Researchers explain mysterious cause of 6,000-kilometer cloud wall on Venus

A sharply defined cloud front on Venus, stretching about 6,000 kilometers across, has puzzled planetary scientists since Japan’s Akatsuki spacecraft spotted it sweeping around the planet’s equator. The feature looked too large, too persistent, and too strange to fit neatly into existing models of Venusian weather. Now a team that included the University of Tokyo says it has pinned down the cause: the largest known hydraulic jump in the solar system. That phrase may sound exotic, but the basic effect is familiar. It happens when a fast, shallow flow suddenly slows and deepens. In a kitchen sink, you can watch water spread thinly from the faucet before it abruptly thickens into a raised ring. On Venus, researchers say, something similar happens in the atmosphere. However, it occurs on a planetary scale and inside a world wrapped in sulfuric acid clouds. “We identified the phenomena, but for years we couldn’t understand it,” said Professor Takeshi Imamura of the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Frontier Sciences. “However, thanks to this research, we’re now able to show …

Life Is Really Good For 2 Zodiac Signs Between Now And April 19, 2026

Life is really good for two zodiac signs between now and April 19, 2026. According to professional astrologer Evan Nathaniel Grim, these signs can breathe a sigh of relief while Venus is in Taurus.  Venus is at home in Taurus. While the planet of value and beauty spends time here, “We seek security and value those things that are long-lasting,” the astrologers at Cafe Astrology explained. According to Grim, this energy makes things run a lot smoother for two lucky astrological signs that “can attract more of what they want” until Venus changes signs again. 1. Taurus Design: YourTango Whenever Venus is in your sign, life usually improves. So if you’ve felt stuck or scatterbrained, Taurus, life is about to get really good for you. You’re not only feeling creative and inspired again, but “no one will be capable of resisting your charms,” wrote astrologers Ophira & Tali Edut, known as The AstroTwins.  This makes it much easier for you to meet new people, both romantically and work-related, especially since you’re feeling a lot more …

Let’s learn about Venus

Let’s learn about Venus

3-D: Short for three-dimensional. This term is an adjective for something that has features that can be described in three dimensions — height, width and length.  air pressure: The force exerted by the weight of air molecules. atmosphere: The envelope of gases surrounding Earth, another planet or a moon. atmospheric pressure: The pressure exerted by the weight of the atmosphere. carbon: A chemical element that is the physical basis of all life on Earth. Carbon exists freely as graphite and diamond. It is an important part of coal, limestone and petroleum, and is capable of self-bonding, chemically, to form an enormous number of chemically, biologically and commercially important molecules. carbon dioxide: (or CO2) A colorless, odorless gas produced by all animals when the oxygen they inhale reacts with the carbon-rich foods that they’ve eaten. Carbon dioxide also is released when organic matter burns (including fossil fuels like oil or gas). Carbon dioxide acts as a greenhouse gas, trapping heat in Earth’s atmosphere. Plants convert carbon dioxide into oxygen during photosynthesis, the process they use to make …

Fast Heybike Venus e-bike launched with 28 MPH at under 50 lbs!

Fast Heybike Venus e-bike launched with 28 MPH at under 50 lbs!

Electric bike maker Heybike has just officially unveiled its latest model, the Venus, a lightweight commuter-focused e-bike designed to bridge the gap between practical urban transportation and relaxed recreational riding. The new model launches with a starting MSRP of $1,499 and brings together a relatively powerful drivetrain, long-range claims, and a lighter frame package aimed at everyday riders.  The Heybike Venus is built around a step-through aluminum frame intended to make the bike approachable for a wide range of riders, with a recommended rider height range spanning from 4’11” to 6’2” (150-188 cm). The company describes the bike as a “dual-use lightweight e-bike,” meant to handle both the harder weekday commuting jobs and the more casual weekend cruising rides without forcing owners to choose between efficiency and comfort.  Power comes from a 750W rear hub motor that produces up to 70 Nm of torque, which should provide enough punch for quick acceleration in traffic or tackling moderate hills. The bike is capable of reaching speeds up to 28 mph (45 km/h), placing it squarely in …

Scientists Spot Huge Cave on Venus

Scientists Spot Huge Cave on Venus

RSLab / University of Trento Astronomers say they’ve spotted a vast cave lurking beneath the surface of Venus — providing the strongest evidence yet that the planet is tunneled with lava tubes. The discovery of the cave, described in a new study published in Nature Communications, adds to our understanding of how Venus was shaped by its hellish preponderance of volcanos. “Our knowledge of Venus is still limited, and until now we have never had the opportunity to directly observe processes occurring beneath the surface of Earth’s twin planet,” said coauthor Lorenzo Bruzzone at the University of Trento in a statement about the work. “The identification of a volcanic cavity is therefore of particular importance, as it allows us to validate theories that for many years have only hypothesized their existence.” Scientists have long suspected that Venus harbored lava tubes, which are also known as pyroducts. Its surface is scattered with perhaps tens of thousands of volcanoes, and is scarred with volcanic plains and lava channels. Several studies have indicated signs of recent volcanic activity …

Scientists find evidence of a massive lava tube hiding on Venus

Scientists find evidence of a massive lava tube hiding on Venus

Volcanic caves are not just an Earth thing. Scientists have spotted signs of lava tubes on the Moon and Mars. Now, researchers at the University of Trento say they have strong evidence that one exists on Venus as well, deep below its hostile surface. The discovery comes from a detailed study of radar images collected decades ago by NASA’s Magellan spacecraft. The work, funded by the Italian Space Agency, was published in the journal Nature Communications. It points to what appears to be a massive, empty lava tube beneath a collapsed pit near a Venusian volcano called Nyx Mons. Lorenzo Bruzzone led the research. He is a full professor of telecommunications and heads the Remote Sensing Laboratory at the University of Trento’s Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science. He says the finding fills a major gap in what scientists know about Earth’s closest planetary neighbor. Venus skylight in the Nyx Mons region reveals a subsurface cave, hypothesized to be a lava tube. The feature was identified through analysis of radar images acquired by the …

Radar data reveals cavernous underground lava tube on Venus

Radar data reveals cavernous underground lava tube on Venus

WASHINGTON, Feb 9 : A fresh examination of radar data for Venus obtained by NASA’s Magellan spacecraft in the 1990s indicates the presence of a large underground cavity created by a lava flow, the first subsurface feature ever detected on Earth’s planetary neighbor. Researchers said the radar data was consistent with a geological feature called a lava tube that is found in certain volcanic locations on Earth. Lava tubes also exist on the moon and are thought to be present on Mars. Venus has carefully guarded its secrets, with its surface shrouded by thick noxious clouds. But radar can peer through these clouds. Scientists had theorized the presence of lava tubes on Venus, considering its history of volcanism. “Moving from theory to direct observation marks a major step forward, opening the door to new lines of research and providing crucial information for future missions aimed at exploring the planet,” said Lorenzo Bruzzone, a radar and planetary scientist at the University of Trento in Italy, senior author of the study published on Monday in the journal …
