ByteDance’s New AI Video Model Can Make 30-Second Clips From a Single Prompt

ByteDance’s New AI Video Model Can Make 30-Second Clips From a Single Prompt

The Chinese tech company ByteDance revealed Seedance 2.5, the latest version of its artificial intelligence video generator model, during a conference in Beijing on Tuesday, according to a report from The Information. AI video generation has come a long way since its debut, with each new version becoming increasingly better at producing realistic imagery. We’re far from the first time we saw Will Smith eating spaghetti, which was horrifyingly bad.  Now, we need watermarking for these AI-generated videos to help identify deepfakes and other synthetic or false content.  The latest version of the video model allows users to provide up to 50 reference pieces, whether they’re images, videos or audio files — up from 12 in its predecessor, Seedance 2.0. Increasing the number of references will give you greater control over the video creation process. The model can generate 30-second, 4K videos with a single prompt.  ByteDance has consistently released some of the most impressive AI video generation models, rivaling those of OpenAI’s now-dead Sora and Google’s Veo 3. ByteDance, which previously held a majority stake in …

First look at the PV7 [Video]

Kia’s first electric van has quickly become a fan favorite. With the larger PV7 coming soon, will it have the same impact? When is Kia launching the PV7 electric van? After launching the PV5 last year, Kia’s electric van proved to be a bigger hit than most expected. In the first three months of 2026, it accounted for 9% light commercial electric vehicle (eLCV) sales in Europe. The PV5 is a midsize, fully electric van, and the first from Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup. Kia’s PBVs are much more advanced than the vans or any vehicle we are accustomed to. Kia calls them “total mobility solutions” that use Hyundai Motor Group’s software-to-everything (SDx) and advanced batteries, powertrain, and other EV components. Alannah Keyser, a 21-year-old film student, was introduced during Sunday’s episode as one of the six new girls brought in for the hit dating show’s famous Casa Amor twist, which was meant to shake up the relationships that have been established in the three weeks of season eight so far. But just hours after audiences saw Keyser dressed in an angel costume while she flirted with the boys in Fiji, a 10-second undated video began circulating on social media that appeared to show her mouthing the N-word as she sang along to lyrics at a Miami party. The origins of the video remain unclear, but the backlash was swift. …

Alibaba’s AI video model rises to No. 2 in global rankings, as OpenAI’s Sora and ByteDance’s Seedance fall away

Alibaba’s AI video model rises to No. 2 in global rankings, as OpenAI’s Sora and ByteDance’s Seedance fall away

Alibaba Cloud on Sunday released HappyHorse 1.1, a major upgrade to its AI video generation model that the company says delivers production-ready video synthesis across core content creation scenarios. The model is now live on Alibaba Cloud Model Studio with full API access for enterprise customers and developers, accompanied by a 40% sitewide launch discount for the first two weeks. The release arrives at a moment of remarkable upheaval in the AI video generation market — and Alibaba appears keenly aware of the timing. OpenAI discontinued Sora after it proved financially unsustainable. ByteDance indefinitely shelved the international rollout of Seedance 2.0 following a barrage of copyright complaints from Hollywood studios. For enterprise procurement teams that had been evaluating or integrating those tools into marketing, advertising, and content production workflows, the competitive landscape has contracted sharply in a matter of months. That contraction creates both an opportunity and a test for Alibaba. HappyHorse 1.1 is not a research demo or a consumer toy — it is an API-first product built for integration into enterprise software stacks, …

Amazon Prime Video Cancels ‘Kevin’ Animated Series

Amazon Prime Video Cancels ‘Kevin’ Animated Series

Amazon‘s Prime Video has opted not to renew the animated series Kevin, about a cat who moves into a pet rescue in Queens after his humans break up and bonds with the other animals, according to co-creator Aubrey Plaza. Plaza shared the news on Instagram on Saturday, calling the decision “very disappointing since we were just getting going.” “I want to say thank you to all the fans that watched our show and all of the incredible cast and crew that worked so hard to make this dream come alive,” she wrote. “I remember on the early days of Parks & Rec when we all thought we would be cancelled because our ratings weren’t great. Our numbers. But we had some special humans over at NBC that believed in the show and let us grow and let audiences fall in love with our characters.” She added, reflecting on changes in the TV business: “I was hoping for this for Kevin but sadly we are living in a different time in our industry. I hope the …

Retro video game therapy helps stroke survivors regain arm movement

Retro video game therapy helps stroke survivors regain arm movement

A familiar challenge follows many stroke survivors long after the emergency has passed. The ability to move an arm, reach for an object, or complete simple daily tasks can remain limited for years. Now, a new study suggests that a simple, game-based therapy may help restore lost movement in a way that feels both engaging and effective. Researchers at Northwestern University have developed a retro-style video game paired with a wearable device to help retrain arm movement. The results show that this approach can significantly improve function, even in people who experienced a stroke many years earlier. Participants used the system mostly at home. This allowed them to practice far more than traditional therapy programs. The increased repetition appears to be a key factor in their recovery. A New Direction In Stroke Rehabilitation Stroke remains one of the leading causes of long-term disability. Many survivors continue to struggle with arm movement months or even years later. Prime Video quietly canceled 4 shows in 2026 including one with incredible Rotten Tomatoes score

Prime Video quietly canceled 4 shows in 2026 including one with incredible Rotten Tomatoes score

Prime Video established itself as the streamer for romance and action, with Off Campus, Every Year After, Reacher, and Cross all huge hits for the service.  But Prime Video has also canceled several popular shows in recent years, including Jack Ryan, which had reached its natural creative conclusion;  Countdown, which ended with a cliffhanger that will never be resolved; and The Wheel of Time, which faced a massive budget-to-viewership problem. That trend has continued in 2026, with four shows already canceled before the end of Q2, although seven have been renewed – three of which came before their premiere episode had even dropped… Prime Video shows canceled © Jasper Savage/Prime Gen V Prime Video canceled Gen V after the second season concluded, despite The Boys spin-off being a critical hit, with a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon,” said VCU executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg. “You’ll …

He made your free video player run smoothly. Now he’s doing that for robots.

He made your free video player run smoothly. Now he’s doing that for robots.

You’ve probably used VLC Media Player, the free video player with the orange traffic-cone icon — it’s been downloaded more than 6 billion times. But according to its lead developer, Jean-Baptiste Kempf, robots will soon be almost as ubiquitous as his open source video software. Convinced that “hundreds of millions of robots and drones” will be roaming the streets in a few years, this French serial entrepreneur and open-source legend has been building Kyber, an infrastructure layer for controlling remote devices in real time. Its core software is an SDK that synchronizes video, audio, sensor data, and control inputs with minimal latency. This lines up well with the rise of physical AI, and it’s part of why the Paris-based startup was able to raise a $5 million round led by Lightspeed, which has also backed Anthropic and Mistral AI. “Physical AI is only as good as the underlying systems running it,” the American VC firm wrote in a LinkedIn post announcing its investment. Kyber’s potential applications go well beyond AI, though. Kempf told TechCrunch the …
