Man With Alzheimer’s Who Couldn’t Speak Suddenly Finds His Words When His Dog Walks In

Lisa Abeyta posted a video that is a must-watch. Abeyta’s father suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia, which in his case has robbed him of most of his speech. But when presented with the dog he so loves, a small miracle occurs.  A man with Alzheimer’s who couldn’t speak suddenly finds his words when his dog walks in. One of the cruelest things about Alzheimer’s disease is the way it takes language away. Researchers explain that what is happening is that the disease changes the brain’s temporal lobe over a period of time, eventually reducing a person’s ability to find words or follow a conversation, until speech disappears completely. For families caring for someone with Alzheimer’s, the silence can be one of the hardest things to navigate. RELATED: The One Thing You Can Do Each Day To Prevent Alzheimer’s That Takes Less Than 2 Minutes Abeyta’s father, Charles Sasser, a Korean War veteran, had been living with Alzheimer’s for several years when Lisa shared the video. In the months leading up …

Ronnie O’Sullivan walks out minutes after start of World Open match with bizarre complaint

Ronnie O’Sullivan walks out minutes after start of World Open match with bizarre complaint

Ronnie O’Sullivan walked out during the first frame of his World Open match against Ross Muir because a sponsorship logo on his waistcoat appeared to be distracting him. The “Rocket” was put off by the red advert stitched to the right side of his chest when lining up a black, midway through a break during his first-round match. He briefly scratched at the patch in an attempt to remove it before exiting the auditorium, causing a delay of several minutes. Muir was left confused in his seat until O’Sullivan returned, following some alterations, to claim the first frame on his way to a 5-1 win in Yushan, China. Ronnie O’Sullivan was distracted by a sponsorship logo (Danny Lawson/PA Wire) Despite the irritation caused by his garment – he continued to fiddle with his waistcoat as the match progressed – O’Sullivan played well in his first tournament appearance since the World Grand Prix in early February. The seven-time world champion, 50, polished off the victory against Scotland’s Muir with consecutive centuries. The opening frame had already …

Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Actress Gillian Anderson made a surprise appearance on the runway as she closed the autumn/winter 2026 show for Miu Miu during Paris Fashion Week. The X-Files star walked the final look wearing a mustard-yellow embellished shift dress, bringing the presentation by designer Miuccia Prada to a close as guests looked on from either side of the grass-covered runway. Also appearing on the catwalk was actress Chloë Sevigny, who has long been associated with the brand’s offbeat aesthetic. Sevigny walked in a dark-tailored blazer layered over a short skirt, paired with burgundy heels, continuing the show’s theme of understated yet slightly unconventional styling. Initially launched in 1993 as an accessories-heavy “anti-fashion” counterpart to Prada, Miu Miu has steadily evolved into a standalone label with its …

When Money Walks In, Does God Walk Out?

When Money Walks In, Does God Walk Out?

After their conversation with Dr. Che “Rhymefest” Smith, Amber and Tom return to a provocative line attributed to Quincy Jones: “When money walks in the room, God walks out.” Is that true – or does money simply expose what already has our attention? Drawing on listener responses, spiritual traditions, and pop-culture moments like “We Are the World” and “Man in the Mirror,” they explore whether money is a rival to faith or just a tool – and why the real question may be what sits at the center of our lives. They consider real-world dilemmas: What do you do when funding threatens to soften your message? How do you use influence without losing integrity? And how might PEMDAS (that’s right: Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally) provide us with a roadmap? It’s a thoughtful, wide-ranging conversation about money, power, and the courage it takes to keep meaning at the center – especially when the stakes get high, and the commas increase. See some of Los Angeles’ best architecture on these staircase walks

See some of Los Angeles’ best architecture on these staircase walks

Here’s another quintessential L.A. walk through the Hollywood Hills’ High Tower neighborhood, the Hollywood Bowl and Whitley Terrace inspired by “Walking Los Angeles” Walk 15. The roughly three-mile route winds through historic neighborhoods with excellent views, incredible century-old homes and (literally) breathtaking climbs along with an intriguing collection of gates and doors. The walk also gives you a chance to admire the Hollywood Bowl without jillions of people milling around (and, if necessary, visit its lovely restrooms without waiting forever in line), but be sure to check the Bowl’s schedule ahead of time. The route won’t be possible when it’s having a concert. Traffic and parking are always a challenge in this part of L.A. and nearly impossible in the High Tower area. I recommend finding a place to park across Highland Avenue on Milner Road because it’s less traveled (and very lovely). One final note: This route has few sidewalks, and those that exist are uneven, so keep an eye open for traffic and trip hazards, which is tougher than it sounds, because there …

Accessible Walks Bring the Joys of Birding to People With Mobility and Other Limitations

Accessible Walks Bring the Joys of Birding to People With Mobility and Other Limitations

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Wearing an oxygen pack on her back for her COPD, Marcia OBara is leading a group of nature enthusiasts on a mission to see birds. They carry walking sticks on the flat trails, moving at their own pace, without pressure or competition and enjoying a sense of community. This is Birding for Every BODY, one of numerous such excursions offered each month by the nonprofit Tucson Bird Alliance with Arizona’s Pima County. It’s part of a growing national movement to help people with physical and other limitations experience birding and nature in general. “It’s an opportunity for people to get out and see birds without pressure, no matter how long it takes or how many birds we see,” said OBara, a retired nurse who has been leading the accessible outings for three years. She said disabled people often cannot keep up on traditional outings, especially when competitive birders are focused on checking off a list of the greatest possible number of species. For her accessible walks, OBara ensures that all trails …

Vivian Wilson, Estranged Daughter of Elon Musk, Walks For Gucci at Milan Fashion Week 2026

Earlier this year, Wilson was even chosen by Rihanna for her Fenty brand’s new lingerie campaign. Last year, Vivian Wilson spoke to Vanity Fair after her first lingerie campaign, for TomboyX: “I was terrified,” she said. “Before this, I was very much the person who, like, didn’t show any skin, ever, at all. Even in my day-to-day, like going to the beach with friends, I would, like, not wear a swimsuit. So it was very, very nerve-racking, but I wanted to do [the shoot] because I wanted to have more confidence in my own body. I do feel confident in my own body, but I wanted to, like, prove that confidence to myself, if that makes any sense. But also I was really scared, but what got me together on the day was the hairstylist and makeup artist, who are two amazing and hyper-talented trans women. We were just joking around and cutting it up before the [shoot].” At the time, she was planning future runway shows, but was concentrating on photo shoots and being …

Netflix Walks From Warner Bros. and Wins?

Netflix Walks From Warner Bros. and Wins?

After the bidding war over Warner Bros. Discovery ended with streaming giant Netflix bowing out of the race, leaving the field to David Ellison’s Paramount late on Thursday, the David Zaslav-led Hollywood studio is expected to soon make the $111 billion megadeal from Team Ellison official. Wall Street analysts have started chiming in on what the decision means for Netflix, especially since it pulled the plug on its pursuit of WBD very quickly, well ahead of a final Wednesday deadline to improve its own offer, and on a day that saw co-CEO Ted Sarandos travel to Washington, DC. Why did Netflix fold on the high-stakes game of Hollywood poker, and what does it mean for its strategic focus and potential future spending? In a sign that the company has taken back at least some control over its stock narrative, many on Wall Street rejoiced that Netflix can now return to focus on its pure-play streaming strategy. A key data point underlining excitement about that: the streamer’s stock jumped 7.9 percent in Friday pre-market trading to …

Netflix Walks Away From Warner Bros Deal, Paramount Set to Take Over

Netflix Walks Away From Warner Bros Deal, Paramount Set to Take Over

Netflix has dropped out of the takeover battle for Warner Bros. Discovery, putting Paramount Skydance on course to win the whole WBD business. The world’s largest streaming service had been pegged to land a deal in which it would acquire Warner Bros., HBO, and HBO Max in a cash-and-stock deal valued at $72 billion in equity and $82.7 billion, including debt. But after Paramount submitted a final offer, valuing WBD at $111bn including debt, Netflix declined to match it. In an announcement on Thursday, Netflix co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters said: The transaction we negotiated would have created shareholder value with a clear path to regulatory approval. However, we’ve always been disciplined, and at the price required to match Paramount Skydance’s latest offer, the deal is no longer financially attractive, so we are declining to match the Paramount Skydance bid. We believe we would have been strong stewards of Warner Bros.’ iconic brands, and that our deal would have strengthened the entertainment industry and preserved and created more production jobs in the U.S. But …
