The Real-Life Wardrobe of Chanel Beads’s Shane Lavers, Whose Everyday Pants Are Vintage G-Star Raw Jeans

The Real-Life Wardrobe of Chanel Beads’s Shane Lavers, Whose Everyday Pants Are Vintage G-Star Raw Jeans

Shane Lavers, known by his stage name Chanel Beads, is a week away from releasing the follow-up to his 2024 debut album, Your Day Will Come. In a bizarre and poignant move, he chose to name it the same thing. Fittingly, over the course of my afternoon in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with Lavers, 32, I’ll come to find he loves contradictions and the space in between things. “I had a meandering path,” he says of his upbringing. “I didn’t really have strong ambition or direction. Just this ambient frustration and inability to do anything.” The musician grew up in Minnesota, leaving when he turned 18 in an effort to figure out what he wanted to do with his life and where he wanted to be—to “just take stuff in,” he says. He moved to Montana and then Seattle, where he contemplated moving to LA but ultimately stayed for love. He spent time playing house shows on weekends, experimenting with the boundaries of performance. But when his girlfriend felt moved to move to New York, Lavers decided …

How Much Would You Pay for Timothée Chalamet’s Chrome Hearts NBA Playoffs Wardrobe?

How Much Would You Pay for Timothée Chalamet’s Chrome Hearts NBA Playoffs Wardrobe?

After more than half a century of heartbreak, the New York Knicks are finally NBA champions again. And throughout the entire playoff run, no one rode the emotional rollercoaster harder than Timothée Chalamet. The actor was a constant courtside presence: celebrating wins, screaming at referees, and doing it all in some pretty sick fits. While most fans showed their support with a simple jersey or a cap cap, Chalamet took it up a notch in the cult-favorite Los Angeles label Chrome Hearts. Lots and lots of Chrome Hearts. If you’ve been following his look throughout the postseason, you’ll know that identifying exactly what he was wearing isn’t always easy. Chrome Hearts is famously secretive, with stock varying from store to store and many pieces never appearing online at all. And when you’re one of the most famous guys in Hollywood, the brand is making custom pieces just for you. Still, we’ve done our best to estimate what all that drip would have cost for a normal person shopping for similar pieces on resale site. We …

Inside the Killer Wardrobe of ‘Obsession’ with Costume Designer Blair James

Inside the Killer Wardrobe of ‘Obsession’ with Costume Designer Blair James

What was your biggest challenge? The blood. I had no idea how hard putting blood on clothes would be. I have so much respect for special effects and makeup artists. None of the blood gags in Obsession are special effects—it’s all actually live blood being splattered. When you pour blood on different fabrics, it falls differently, and we were trying to replicate blood falling on a sweater, like, 12 times. I had no idea how much thought goes into it. Obsession was filmed in 20 days with a young feature director. What was the energy actually like on that set? I really got so spoiled. A lot of people say, “Oh, I bet it was so heavy and dark on set.” And I am like, “Actually, it was really light, because Curry and producer Haley [Nicole Johnson] always maintained a very beautiful vibe.” We were all stepping up and picking up different roles. We were there to do it together. And when you watch Obsession, you can feel that everyone was just pouring their hearts …

The Real-Life Wardrobe of Eddie Huang, Who’s Been Watching Knicks Games With a Weighted Vest On

The Real-Life Wardrobe of Eddie Huang, Who’s Been Watching Knicks Games With a Weighted Vest On

Eddie Huang is many things: author, chef, restaurateur, filmmaker, media personality. The list goes on, and Huang wouldn’t have it any other way. Born in Virginia to Taiwanese-Chinese parents, Huang opened his first restaurant, Baohaus, a cult-favorite Taiwanese bun shop, on New York City’s Lower East Side in 2009, later moving the shop to the East Village, where it remained until its pandemic-era closure in October 2020. Between then and now, Huang published two books, directed two films, and got married and started a family. Nowadays, he’s got plenty more on his plate: a Substack, a podcast (which he co-hosts with his wife, Natashia Perrotti), and his first novel, Come Undone, which hits shelves on June 16. He’s currently (superstitiously) rooting on his beloved New York Knicks in the finals. Oh, and just reopened Baohaus this past March, which is where he and I met up in late May. Huang didn’t expect to bring the restaurant back, but when he received a call—over the speakerphone in his car—from his trademark attorney asking him if he …

11 Luxury Summer Wardrobe Essentials For Men

11 Luxury Summer Wardrobe Essentials For Men

Great summer style is all about balance. You want clothes that feel relaxed enough to survive the heat but still look polished and considered. The best wardrobes manage both, leaning on lightweight fabrics, softer tailoring and easy silhouettes without tipping too far into holiday-mode cliché. That’s why understated luxury brands thrive at this time of year. Labels like Luca Faloni specialise in exactly the sort of refined warm-weather staples that make getting dressed in summer feel effortless. Think Italian linen, silk-cotton knits and softly tailored separates that improve even the simplest outfits. Here are the luxury pieces worth investing in this summer, and why they earn their place in your wardrobe. The Linen Shirt A proper linen shirt is one of the few garments that genuinely improves with a bit of wear. The creases soften, the fabric relaxes, and somehow the whole thing looks even better slightly rumpled after a long day in the sun. It’s the easiest way to make summer dressing feel elevated without looking overdressed. Throw one on with tailored shorts and …

The Real-Life Wardrobe of Sage Elsesser, Whose First Fashion Icon Was Bruce Lee

The Real-Life Wardrobe of Sage Elsesser, Whose First Fashion Icon Was Bruce Lee

Sage Elsesser, the rapper, producer, skater, and model, has lived a lot of life for someone under 30. He experienced a meteoric rise at a young age, first making his mark skating in the viral 2014 Supreme film “Cherry.” A year later, he started releasing music under the moniker Navy Blue, initially hoping to keep his identity under wraps. He’s produced beats for some of the biggest names in the underground rap scene, like Mach-Hommy, Earl Sweatshirt, and Armand Hammer. He’s since released six proper studio albums of his own, and he’s got a brilliant seventh on the way, Sir Render, that’s due out June 5. “My upbringing was beautiful,” says Elsesser, 29, after I ask him about his childhood. “I feel really lucky to have had the kind of parents that I had. Very loving, supportive, free, and critical thinkers.” He grew up in Mid City in Los Angeles with three sisters (including supermodel Paloma) and an older brother who died when Sage was a child, a tragedy he says shaped his spirituality growing …

Fear not, options abound, but let’s get into one that can bear the weight of an entire week’s worth of outfits, that might not always get the summer shirt love it deserves: the humble oxford.
