Costume directors and casting directors have gotten increasingly skilled at picking out watches for movies and television. IWC created an entirely bespoke piece for Brad Pitt’s character in F1, while Succession solicited a watch expert to identify the pieces that would best reflect each character’s level of debasement. So, when a timepiece shows up prominently on screen today, it’s worth considering the message behind it. One place the royals tend to summer is the tennis court—just ask Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa Middleton, who, a few days after Kate attended Wimbledon on July 2, joined in on the festivities. For her big return to Wimbledon, following a two-year absence, Pippa wore a white dress with a red floral print by Reformation—perfect for the warm season. Her mother Carole, who has also attended previous years of the tennis tournament, took inspiration from her daughter Kate’s recent sky-blue looks, dusting off a linen jacket in a similar hue. Pippa has a soft spot for romantic floral dresses with puffed sleeves—fitted at the waist, but flowing at the hem. For the afternoon spent in the Royal Box, she chose a fresh, no-frills dress from the Los Angeles–based brand Reformation’s Naira collection, which aims to make sustainable fashion accessible. The Elle actress and executive producer already look eerily similar, despite sharing no DNA. But if you took a look at Minetree’s fashions at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on Tuesday and thought she might be Witherspoon, that’s because Witherspoon has already worn the look. At the U.K. premiere of the Prime Video series, Minetree wore the same Stella McCartney dress Witherspoon herself sported at the 2014 Met Gala. The theme was “Charles James: Beyond Fashion,” and the Academy Award winner was styled by Leslie Framer. Nope, it’s not AI. It’s just a really big flag with bright lights, draped on Hoover Dam for the next several weeks. As a display to mark the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, the states of Nevada and Arizona and the federal Bureau of Reclamation teamed up to hang and illuminate an enormous American flag on the dam on Memorial Day. The display, scheduled to be in place through July 4, is visible to anyone crossing between Arizona and Nevada on U.S. Route 93, which goes across the top of the dam. The flag is 150 feet tall and 300 feet long, spread on the south-facing side of the dam and lit by 550 LED lights (powered by dam-generated electricity).
