A pregnant woman and her husband were found hanging from a tree in a forest. The couple who had married just six months ago went missing while on their way to get a mobile phone repaired in Uttarakhand’s Pauri district, India. The husband had gone to his in-laws’ house four days earlier to bring his wife back home. On July 16, the couple left their home in Bijnor for Kotdwar to get their mobile phone fixed. When they failed to return by evening, their worried family members informed the police and a search operation was launched. On July 17, their bodies were discovered in a forest area 30 miles from their location. The man’s body was brought to Alwar on July 18. The victim’s father, a Havildar in the Indian Army, alleged that his daughter-in-law was pregnant and claimed she was gang-raped before the couple was murdered and their bodies hung from a tree.
