Heidi Klum opted for a bold look to kick off this year’s Coachella in Palm Springs. The supermodel donned an all-white ensemble with a distinctly retro festival feel. The outfit featured a daring bodysuit with dramatic cut-outs across the bodice and bust, accented by mesh paneling and buckle details. It was paired with oversized white trousers, worn unzipped and finished with distressed brown burn marks along the sides. Heidi accessorized with a pair of oversized sunglasses, white chunky sneakers, and a white beanie. If you know anything about me, you’ll know that I’m, first and foremost, a sneaker guy. I can ID a pair from across the street just by the shape of the tongue or the panel layout or the way the sole’s cut. My lovely editor Mahalia Chang calls my talent “scary,” which I choose to take as a compliment. But as much as I’m into trainers, I can also appreciate a good non-sneaker shoe. And one of the best non-sneaker shoes out there is the Paraboot Michael—the same one that Robert Pattinson happens to wear in The Drama. In the A24 movie, Pattinson’s character, Charlie, isn’t exactly what you’d call a high-fashion guy. He’s a museum director who clearly prioritizes comfort over anything else. He’s in Patagonia raincoats most of the time, worn over washed-out checkered shirts or open-collar button-ups with the tails hanging out. What happens at the Vanity Fair Oscar party evidently doesn’t always stay there. Following Hollywood’s biggest night and the 31st annual afterparty organized by Vanity Fair, comedian Robby Hoffman discovered an unexpected party favor: “Let it be known that I found a diamond watch on the floor of the Vanity Fair party…” Hoffman took to Instagram Stories with a post showing the Boucheron watch, belonging to the Vendôme Liseré collection, with the strap broken into several pieces. While a price for the item isn’t listed, the brand’s other watches go for up to $36,900. Later, Hoffman posted an important update, tagging fellow Vanity Fair Oscar party attendee Selma Blair, after she was identified as the wearer of the lost accessory. Hoffman, who is married to The Traitors’ Gabby Windey, confirmed that the watch had been handed over to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) security. It’s coming up on five years since Ryan Gosling signed on with TAG Heuer as the brand’s Hollywood ambassador-in-chief, and in that time, we’ve seen him wear just about every cool and notable watch in its expansive modern oeuvre, and a few choice vintage pieces, as well. But for serious Heuer nerds, none of these quite compares to the timepiece he’s been wearing all week at the international premieres of his new sci-fi action flick, Project Hail Mary. If you’ve been down the Heuer rabbit hole, then you know that in the late 1940s, Abercrombie & Fitch—then a respected outdoor retailer and a seller of Heuer watches—approached the Swiss watchmaker to design a timepiece with a tide indicator based on solunar theory, which tracks the position of the Sun, Moon, and tides in order to determine the best times for hunting and fishing. Once a season or so, Jordan Brand reissues a sneaker that Michael Jordan wore on the basketball court in an iconic original colorway—the Air Jordan 3 ‘Black Cement,’ say, or the Air Jordan 1 ‘Bred’—and that shoe inevitably flies off the shelves. But this week, an OG Air Jordan that’s only been released twice since its days on the United Center hardwood makes its return—and it’s unclear if sneakerheads will be lining up to cop. For the first time since 2017, the Air Jordan 13 is back in its original red-and-white ‘Chicago’ colorway. The Tinker Hatfield-designed 13 was one of the last signature shoes Jordan wore during his prime with the Chicago Bulls, and he only wore four makeups of it on the court. ‘A lot of late 70s bands wore grey. But we were determined to have fun’: the return of the mega-influential Swell Maps after 46 years | Punk

Swell Maps were a punk band, but only because that word meant something different when they started making records in 1977. It didn’t mean bands called Knuckleheadz or Gimp Fist; it meant unfettered freedom, curiosity rather than rage. Theirs was a music that wandered off in unexpected directions, where songs barely hung together before falling apart, punctuated by peculiar sounds made by whatever happened to be around. It was psychedelia and it was prog and it was krautrock, every bit as much as it was punk. Most of all, it was DIY. So Swell Maps’ descendants weren’t the kind to get sleeve tattoos and don leather. They, like Swell Maps, were nerds. Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore described them as “part of my upbringing”. Stephen Malkmus noted that Pavement formed, more or less, as a tribute to Swell Maps and their kindred spirits Desperate Bicycles. When it comes to formalwear, nailing the shoe choice is always a challenge. A brown lace-up or a boat shoe may tank your nice blue suit; a two-toned Oxford may read too twee if you’re trying to look suave. After a banner year for the loafer, your pennies might be looking a tad too busted to pair with a bowtie. But there’s a fun new-ish silhouette in the mix—the black-tie opera pump—that’s really been sticking the landing as of late. Colman Domingo stepped out in the opera pump—the dressier brother of the men’s ballet flat (don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it)—this week when he attended the New York Theatre Workshop Gala, an undeniably dressy affair.
