Xiaomi unveils Vision GT electric supercar concept, with a twist

Xiaomi just revealed a Vision Gran Turismo concept supercar at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, making it the first Chinese automaker to participate in the iconic racing game’s concept car program in its 28-year history. The electric supercar concept sits on Xiaomi’s own 900V Silicon Carbide (SiC) platform and features a radical low-slung design with scissor doors, a massive carbon fiber rear wing, and center-lock wheels hiding carbon-ceramic brakes. A tech company plays in supercar territory The Vision Gran Turismo program, created by Polyphony Digital in 2013, has historically been the playground of legacy automakers like Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Ferrari, and BMW. Each brand designs a concept car unconstrained by production requirements or regulatory hurdles, a pure expression of design and engineering ambition that becomes playable in the Gran Turismo racing game on PlayStation. Xiaomi is now the first Chinese brand to join that exclusive club, and it’s a statement about how far Chinese EV makers have come in just a few years. Xiaomi launches 17 Ultra smartphone, an AirTag clone, and an ultra slim powerbank

Xiaomi launches 17 Ultra smartphone, an AirTag clone, and an ultra slim powerbank

Xiaomi today launched a slew of gadgets ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona including a camera-focused flagship smartphone, an AirTag clone, Xiaomi Watch 5 smartwatch, and an ultra slim power bank. The China-based company has partnered with camera maker Leica to co-brand its Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphone. As part of the partnership, it is using Leica lenses and creating filters in the style of the German camera company. The phone has a 50-megapixel main sensor with an F/1.67 aperture and a 1-inch sensor. But the main attraction is the 200-megapixel telephoto camera that has a variable focal length of 75mm-100mm equivalent. That means you can zoom optically between 3.2x and 4.3x. The phone also has a 50 MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. Image Credits: XiaomiImage Credits:Xiaomi Also notable: The phone packs a 6,000 mAh battery (the Chinese version comes with a bigger 6,800mAh battery). The phone could be charged using a 90W USB PD-PPS, and it supports Xiaomi’s Hypercharge wireless tech at 50W. The device has a 6.9-inch Xiaomi HyperRGB …

Review: Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leitzphone Pack Leica Magic Into a Flagship Phone

Review: Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leitzphone Pack Leica Magic Into a Flagship Phone

A big screen, powerful camera system, and top-notch performance can eat right into your battery life, but Xiaomi has managed to pack a 6,000-mAh battery into the 17 Ultra (up from 5,410 mAh last year). The jump gives it serious stamina, and this phone can go a couple of days between charges. I wish Xiaomi had found a way to include Qi2, as magnetic wireless charging is the one thing I missed in switching from the Pixel 10 Pro XL (though you can sort of add it with the photography kit case). The 17 Ultra does support wireless charging at an impressively fast 50-watt rate, but the camera module makes it awkward to use with some wireless chargers. Wired charging goes up to 90 watts with the right adapter (not included). Software used to be the big caveat, but I didn’t find much to complain about with the 17 Ultra. Xiaomi’s HyperOS apes iOS in places, and I still don’t like the unlabeled quick-settings icons, but it’s mostly perfectly fine. The Leica interface, with minimalist …

Xiaomi 17 Ultra hands-on: The cameraphone with a monstrous zoom

Xiaomi 17 Ultra hands-on: The cameraphone with a monstrous zoom

Xiaomi’s Ultra line of phones has always been about one thing: Peak camera performance. The new Xiaomi 17 Ultra, launched ahead of MWC 2026 in Barcelona, pushes the boundaries once more, though it suffers from similar setbacks as its predecessors. Note that there was no Xiaomi 16 Ultra; the company decided to skip that number and go straight from the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra to Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra, likely to “catch up” with Apple, whose latest models also bear the number seventeen. Despite the change, the new Xiaomi phones are very much an evolution of last year’s flagship models. SEE ALSO: MWC 2026: What to expect at the world’s largest phone show On the phone side of things, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is an extremely capable Android smartphone, with a 6.9-inch, 120Hz OLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, 16GB of RAM, 512/1024GB of storage, and a 6,000mAh battery with 90W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. It comes in three colors: Black, White, and the sparkly Starlit Green (Xiaomi …

Xiaomi’s Rumored ‘iOS Bridge’ to Bring Better Apple Device Connectivity

Xiaomi’s Rumored ‘iOS Bridge’ to Bring Better Apple Device Connectivity

Xiaomi will introduce a new software update at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) that will reportedly improve connectivity between its own devices and Apple products. Alongside the debut of the Xiaomi 17 series, its HyperOS 3.1 update is said to include a new “iOS Bridge” for smoother connectivity between the two platforms. According to GizChina, the features tipped include the following: iPhone call alerts: Incoming calls on an iPhone that appear on connected Xiaomi tablets and PCs, allowing users to answer or manage calls without having the iPhone in their hand. Enhanced AirPods integration: AirPods to integrate better with Xiaomi devices, showing battery levels and offering enhanced controls, similar to how they work with Apple devices. Direct file sharing between iPhone and Xiaomi: A fast, wireless transfer feature enabling file sharing between iPhones and Xiaomi devices without relying on third-party apps. If the features do drop in Barcelona during MWC, which runs from March 2 to March 5, it’ll be another notable win for people who own an iPhone and AirPods as well as …

Xiaomi reveals 990-horsepower YU7 GT performance SUV

Xiaomi reveals 990-horsepower YU7 GT performance SUV

Xiaomi has officially filed for the YU7 GT, a nearly 1,000-horsepower performance version of its popular YU7 electric SUV that will hit a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph), making it one of the fastest electric SUVs ever built. The filing appeared today in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) regulatory catalog, revealing a widebody beast that positions Xiaomi squarely against any high-performance SUVs. And it’s not even an “Ultra.” Nearly 1,000 horsepower from dual motors The YU7 GT packs a dual-motor powertrain with a 288 kW (386 hp) front motor and a massive 450 kW (603 hp) rear motor, combining for a total output of 738 kW, that’s 990 horsepower. The YU7 GT’s additional 230 kW is expected to push acceleration times approaching 2 seconds to 100 km/h. The 300 km/h top speed puts it in rare company among production SUVs. Widebody …

Xiaomi SU7 owner puts 165,000 miles on his EV in 18 months, battery health at 94.5%

A Xiaomi SU7 owner in China has achieved what might be the most impressive real-world battery longevity test we’ve seen yet: 265,000 kilometers (165,000 miles) in just 18 months of ownership, with battery health still at 94.5%. The data, first reported by CarNewsChina, comes from owner Mr. Feng, who drives his SU7 Pro an average of 600 km (373 miles) per day — roughly equivalent to a New York-to-Boston round trip, every single day. “Xiaomi staff told me the results, and I was genuinely shocked,” Feng said. “I had assumed it would be down to 90% at best. To see 94.5% was truly surprising.” The numbers in context Feng’s SU7 Pro has a 94.3 kWh battery pack. Based on estimated energy consumption of 18 kWh per 100 km, the battery has gone through approximately 506 complete charge-discharge cycles. In practice, the actual number of partial charging cycles is likely much higher since most EV owners charge between 20-80% rather than doing full cycles. How iPhones Made a Surprising Comeback in China

How iPhones Made a Surprising Comeback in China

After a prolonged slump, Apple’s business is suddenly thriving again in China. The tech giant said in its latest earnings report last week that revenue from the country rose 38 percent year over year in the last quarter, primarily driven by surging demand for iPhones. The rebound came after Apple’s China sales had declined for 18 consecutive months between 2024 and early 2025. In a call with analysts, CEO Tim Cook said Apple set a new record for iPhone upgrades among Chinese customers and saw double-digit growth in the number of users switching from other operating systems to iOS. “Overall, a great quarter in China. We could not be happier with it,” Cook concluded in his signature monotone voice. Apple’s fantastic performance came as a surprise to many observers of the Chinese smartphone market. In recent years, homegrown brands like Huawei and Xiaomi have chipped away at Apple’s market share by releasing premium, feature-packed devices that directly compete with the iPhone. Huawei, for instance, stunned the tech industry when it released a $2,800 smartphone with …
