XPeng unveils GX flagship SUV with 750 km range, L4-ready hardware for ,000

XPeng unveils GX flagship SUV with 750 km range, L4-ready hardware for $58,000

XPeng officially unveiled the GX, its new flagship SUV, at the Beijing Auto Show today. The full-size six-seater starts at 399,800 yuan (~$58,000) and packs up to 750 km (466 miles) of AWD range in its pure electric version. The GX represents XPeng’s most ambitious push into the premium market yet, bringing together the company’s most advanced autonomous driving hardware, a Bosch steer-by-wire system, and aviation-grade safety redundancy — all in a package that directly undercuts European luxury SUVs. Range Rover looks, but the interior steals the show I saw the XPeng GX in person at the Beijing Auto Show, and it is a stunning vehicle. The exterior is obviously reminiscent of the Range Rover — something we noted when XPeng first revealed images of the GX earlier this year — but dare I say, the interior is even more impressive. The GX measures 5,265 mm (207 inches) long on a 3,115 mm (123 inches) wheelbase, making it slightly longer than a Range Rover. It rides on 22-inch wheels and achieves a 0.255 drag coefficient …

Xpeng is getting serious about selling you an aircraft carrier

Xpeng’s flying car unit Aridge is ramping up its marketing efforts for the new Land Aircraft Carrier designed carry its AeroHT eVTOL “flying car” as it inches closer to production reality. “Born from the cosmos, destined for the city, crafted for the sky,” reads the official copy from Xpeng flying car unit, Aridge (formerly AeroHT). Those words are allegedly the inspiration for the Land Aircraft Carrier’s three new colorways, introduced this week as the Chinese EV brand ramps up marketing efforts and targets a mass production launch for its eVTOL carrier later this year. Dynamic duo The flying car goes in the trunk, via Xpeng. The Xpeng flying car system is a two-part act that consists of a fully electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) flying car and the Land Aircraft Carrier that acts dedicated “mothership” that acts as its transport, garage, and recharge station.  The ground-based part of the flying car system is scheduled for production later this year at a facility Xpeng is calling “the world’s first modern assembly line for flying cars,” …

Xpeng reveals first images of GX flagship SUV with Range Rover styling and steer-by-wire

Screenshot Xpeng has unveiled the first official images of the GX, its new flagship six-seat SUV that takes clear design inspiration from the Range Rover while packing the company’s most advanced technology yet. The Chinese EV maker shared three images of the GX on Weibo today, revealing a sleek full-size SUV that will compete directly with premium rivals like the Li Auto L9, Huawei’s Aito M9, Zeekr 9X, and the upcoming Nio ES9. Range Rover vibes, Chinese tech The GX’s exterior styling makes no attempt to hide its Range Rover inspiration. The profile features the same slanted A and B pillars that give Land Rover’s flagship its distinctive silhouette, along with a split two-piece tailgate design that’s become popular among Chinese luxury SUVs. But where the Range Rover relies on traditional engineering, the GX leans heavily into Xpeng’s tech-forward approach. The SUV is built on the company’s new SEPA 3.0 “physical AI vehicle architecture” and features: Advertisement – scroll for more content Steer-by-wire (no mechanical connection between wheel and tires) Rear-wheel steering for improved maneuverability …

Impeccably dressed and impossibly good-looking, they’re the soothsayers of the industry. I had a day with two of them last week – first with the mercurial Renault Group design boss Laurens van den Acker, who, as well as being all of the above, gave me a secret glimpse into the future. I was sworn to secrecy, but all I can say is: you ain’t seen nothing yet! Later that afternoon, I met Rafig Ferrag, head of creative design for Chinese brand Xpeng. Like many in the car industry, Ferrag had worked for several other car makers before landing at Xpeng, arriving via his homeland France, where he worked for Peugeot and Citroën, and then moving on to Honda. Ferrag was in London hosting a talk at the London Art …
