Jacobi targets PFAS crisis with activated carbon technology

Jacobi Group addresses the PFAS issue using a sustainable solution approach, the only operator offering activated carbon as well as ion exchange resins, supported by their fleet of mobile filtration units across Europe In recent years, awareness of the PFAS contamination crisis has rapidly grown, and, consequently, the drive for effective and safe treatment options has gained momentum too. At Jacobi, we tackle our customers’ PFAS problems with an environment and people-first philosophy where we work within, but often exceed, local directives and regulations, delivering effective treatment that is environmentally conscious and safe for our personnel and the public. Jacobi Group’s entry into PFAS treatment solutions Our first PFAS client came to us before the situation had made headlines or was a big talking point. This was a drinking water customer that was set next to an airbase (widely known as PFAS hotspots) and needed help ensuring the water safety for local people. Here at Jacobi, our goal is to become the most sustainable supplier of activated carbon in the industry. Tackling the PFAS crisis, …

Houseplant hacks: is activated charcoal good for pot plants? | Houseplants

The problemOnce you have graduated from novice plant parent, how can you take your level of care to the next level, helping your houseplant not only survive but thrive? Is activated charcoal the answer? You will find it listed in terrarium recipes and soil amendments. It promises to filter toxins, absorb odours, prevent mould and keep roots healthy. The bag looks purposeful, and the price suggests it is doing something important. The question is whether any of that holds up in an ordinary pot on an ordinary windowsill. The hackActivated charcoal works by adsorption, trapping impurities on its porous surface. In a closed terrarium or bottle garden, where water recycles and there is no drainage, a charcoal layer can slow the buildup of gases and bacteria. But does that translate to standard houseplant pots? The methodAdd a thin layer of activated charcoal at the base of your pot before filling with compost. You can find it in garden centres, houseplant shops or online. A little goes a long way. The testI used charcoal in half a batch …

Before the Summer House Scandal Took Over Your Feed, Lindsay Hubbard Was Spotted Getting “Activated” Downtown

It was just another day of lunch service at the Odeon, the Tribeca restaurant recently depicted on FX’s Love Story, when word of a reality TV scandal began to spread. In the bustling dining room, Lindsay Hubbard, a former publicist and original cast member on Bravo’s Summer House, was sipping wine with a couple of other women, getting up from their table to take a few frantic phone calls. In recent weeks, whispers that two of her costars were secretly dating had been floating throughout New York City and when she rejoined her table, Hubbard appeared to have received some form of confirmation. “Ciara just said…” she urgently told her tablemates, dissolving into a hushed, but excited tone, according to a fellow diner and source close to Vanity Fair. (Hubbard’s reps declined to comment to VF.) Just 24 hours later, the rest of the world learned what Ciara Miller may have told her “activated” costar over day drinks: Miller’s ex-boyfriend West Wilson had been covertly dating her best friend Amanda Batula, all of whom share …

Iran Sleeper Cells ‘Activated’; Threaten To “Eliminate” Trump

Authored by Steve Watson via Modernity.news, US intelligence intercepts reveal Iran may be triggering covert operatives abroad, as Tehran issues direct warnings to President Trump following the airstrike death of its former supreme leader. U.S. intelligence has intercepted an encrypted message from Iran that appears to be an “operational trigger” for sleeper cells embedded in foreign countries, raising alarms about potential attacks. This development comes amid ongoing conflict, with Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, facing threats from multiple fronts after his father’s death in a U.S.-Israeli airstrike. 🚨 ABC News reported that Iran may be activating sleeper cells. pic.twitter.com/4AkUMTH2a2 — Breaking911 (@Breaking911) March 9, 2026 The intercepted communication, reported by ABC News, was flagged shortly after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death on February 28. Analysts believe it originated in Iran and was directed at “clandestine recipients” using passcodes, with characteristics suggesting it was meant for operatives outside the country. The alert describes the signal as resembling historical methods used to activate covert assets without internet reliance. “The signals could be intended to activate or provide instructions to prepositioned sleeper assets operating outside the originating …

Two Polish Airports Reopen After NATO Jets Activated Over Russian Strikes on Ukraine

WARSAW, Feb 7 (Reuters) – Poland’s Lublin ‌and Rzeszow airports reopened on ‌Saturday after authorities said they had ended military aviation operations including flights by NATO aircraft in the country’s airspace, triggered by Russian strikes ‍on Ukraine. There was no violation of Polish airspace, the Polish army’s operational command said. In a post on social media platform X, it thanked NATO and the German air force, “whose aircraft helped ensure safety in Polish skies today”. “Operations of military aviation in our airspace, related to strikes by the Russian Federation on Ukraine, have been ‌concluded,” the operational command said. “Ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have returned ‌to standard operational activities,” ‍it added. Ukraine said on Saturday that Russia had launched a massive air attack on Ukrainian energy facilities overnight, including hits on power stations in western Ukraine. The Polish military operation was of a preventive nature and aimed at securing and protecting airspace in areas adjacent to threatened regions, Poland’s army said earlier in the day. The two airports, both in southeastern Poland, had …

Norit’s global activated carbon solutions for a safer future

Norit discusses the current PFAS regulatory landscape, the scientific factors influencing PFAS adsorption on activated carbon, and how the company is demonstrating PFAS destruction at scale in its reactivation plant. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have emerged as one of the most pressing challenges to water quality in our time. These synthetic chemicals are extraordinarily persistent due to their carbon and fluorine bonds, earning them the name ‘forever chemicals’. Their widespread use in firefighting foams, textiles, electronics, food packaging, cosmetics and industrial applications has resulted in pervasive contamination of water sources across the globe. Scientific studies link PFAS exposure to cancer, immune dysfunction, elevated cholesterol, and other health impacts. In response, regulators in both the US and the European Union are implementing increasingly strict limits on PFAS in drinking water, wastewater, and groundwater. Utilities, industries, and remediation projects face the dual challenge of complying with evolving standards while balancing costs and sustainability. Activated carbon has proven to be one of the most effective and commercially viable tools for PFAS removal. Norit, with more than a …
