Trump explodes at CNN reporter after question about his blonde aide | US | News

Holmes attempted to attract Trump’s attention to pose a question (Image: undefined) CNN journalist Kristen Holmes clashed with President Donald Trump after he branded the CNN news network “fake news” during a press conference held in the Oval Office. On Monday, 17th August, Trump hosted a press conference at the White House in which he honoured 16 year old heroic lifeguard Ryder Williams. The ceremony took place as he was being recognised for his extraordinary rescue of a 10 year old boy from treacherous waves at Seabright State Beach in Santa Cruz, California, on 25th July. However, the event quickly turned confrontational when CNN’s Holmes stepped in to direct a question at Trump. During the conference, Holmes attempted to attract Trump’s attention to pose a question, but Trump swiftly brushed aside her efforts and rebuked her for speaking over another reporter. Trump told Holmes: “Quiet, quiet, quiet. You are very disrespectful. Quiet. Who are you with?” To which she replied: “I’m with CNN.” Trump then fired back: “Fake news. You’re fake news. You’re a loud …

Aide involved in affair with Gavin Newsom in 2005 speaks out

An aide involved in an affair with Gavin Newsom more than 20 years ago, when he was mayor of San Francisco, detailed their relationship and her journey to sobriety in an essay published by Vanity Fair on Tuesday. Although Ruby Rippey, 54, has spoken previously about her relationship with the now-governor, her first-person essay offers the most intimate description yet of the affair. It comes at a time when Newsom is wrapping up his final year as California governor and considering a presidential run in 2028. Rippey, who had worked as Newsom’s appointments secretary, was married to Alex Tourk, the then-mayor’s close friend, campaign manager and prior deputy chief of staff, when the affair became public in 2007. Tourk resigned after Rippey told him that she had been sleeping with their boss, she writes. At the time, Newsom was newly divorced from Kimberly Guilfoyle and he apologized in front of a gaggle of reporters who packed his office for a news conference, admitting “everything you’ve heard and read is true.” Later, he said he was …

GB News pundit Matthew Torbitt pleads guilty to fraud while Labour aide

GB News pundit Matthew Torbitt pleads guilty to fraud while Labour aide

A GB News pundit has admitted fraud in relation to his parliamentary expenses when he was a Labour aide. Matthew Torbitt, a prominent political commentator who once described himself as “Britain’s favourite lefty”, pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud by false representation at a hearing at Thames magistrates court on Monday. During a brief appearance the 35-year-old, dressed in a navy blue suit and an orange tie, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, address and guilty plea. The offences occurred between 2022 and 2024, when Torbitt was working for Christian Wakeford, the MP for Bury South. The court heard that Torbitt, who claims to champion “positive social change”, obtained free rail tickets and accommodation for trips that did not relate to parliamentary business. Maisha Mannan, prosecuting, said the rail tickets were booked between 23 August 2022 and 29 September 2024 via the parliamentary travel system. She said on 2 October 2024 Torbitt submitted a separate claim for reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses. The court heard that the claims totalled more …

Starmer's Former Top Aide Admits Labour Did Not Do Enough Preparation For Government

Morgan McSweeney, the former chief of staff to Keir Starmer Keir Starmer’s former chief of staff has admitted Labour did not do enough preparation before they were elected into government. Morgan McSweeney, who was forced to quit over his links to disgraced peer and ex-ambassador to the US Peter Mandelson earlier this year, told the BBC his party was not ready to deliver quickly for voters after their landslide win in 2024. His remarks come after Starmer announced he was stepping down as Labour leader and prime minister last Monday. McSweeney told the Political Thinking podcast: “We didn’t prepare enough for what kind of world we were going to. We are now in a very different era than when Labour was last in government. “I think we didn’t have enough conversations at the top of the party about what that meant, how to prepare for it, what that meant for the state. “You have to deliver quite quickly for people, for them to see the change quickly. And I think we didn’t come in with …

Brother of Trump aide Natalie Harp blasts her ‘very unhealthy’ relationship with president after report of adoring notes

The estranged brother of Natalie Harp, Donald Trump’s doting personal aide, has spoken out against his sister, describing her close relationship with the president as “very unhealthy.” Trump’s 34-year-old executive assistant — who has earned the moniker “Human Printer” because Trump regularly has her print out online media reports for him — is never far from his side and is so devoted to the president that she leaves behind admiring notes for him, according to a new book by New York Times reporters that highlights the extent of their close relationship. Preston Harp, who has left the U.S. behind for Nicaragua and appears to have very different beliefs from his sibling, told the Daily Mail that he doesn’t understand how she works for the president. The 38-year-old told the newspaper that Trump, 80, was “a national embarrassment.” “She’s just like his fan club,” he said of his fiercely Trump-loyal sister. Trump’s 34-year-old executive assistant is never far from his side and is so devoted to the president that she leaves behind admiring notes for him, …

Former Starmer Aide Predicts Burnhams Labour Leadership

Former Starmer Aide Predicts Burnhams Labour Leadership

Andy Burnham is likely to become Labour leader and prime minister without a contest if he wins next week’s Makerfield by-election, a former aide to Keir Starmer has said. James Lyons told the HuffPost UK podcast Commons People that “we will see a significant number of MPs nominating Andy in a way that makes it very difficult for the prime minister to fight on”. In those circumstances, Lyons said Starmer could agree to “some sort of stable and orderly transition” to Burnham. The prime minister has told ministers that he will stand in a Labour leadership contest if one is triggered. But Lyons, who was No.10 director of communications between 2024 and 2025, said that once his former boss is confronted with the reality of the situation he faces, he will be forced to think again. He said: “The prime minister can survive, the question is ‘will he’, and I think if Andy Burnham is elected next Thursday, I don’t think he will. “I think there’s every chance that what we will see is a …

Zelenskiy’s Top Aide Says Peace Deal by Winter Is ‘Realistic’

KYIV, June 1 (Reuters) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s chief of staff, Kyrylo Budanov, said on Monday he believed agreeing a deal to end the war against Russia ‌by winter was a “realistic” ‌outcome. Zelenskiy said in an interview aired on Sunday that he wanted to press on with talks on securing peace with Russia, which have stalled in recent months, before the onset of winter to take account of Kyiv’s improved strategic position. Talks brokered by the United States on moving toward a peace accord have ground to a halt as Washington has focused on the conflict in Iran. Budanov said he expected a U.S. delegation to visit Moscow and Kyiv in the near future, without giving details. “This is the president’s instruction: to try to end this war as soon as possible … preferably before winter,” he told reporters at a press conference. “In my opinion, this is absolutely correct, timely, and realistic.” Zelenskiy and other Ukrainian officials have said the advance of Russian forces has slowed on the ground while Ukraine has …
