This September will mark 40 years since we first stepped foot into Holby City Hospital. A new trailer released tonight (25 July), which can be viewed below, has shown how Casualty – the longest-running primetime medical drama in the world – plans to mark the milestone anniversary. Set to the tune of “Happy Birthday”, we see a fireball engulf the skies of Wyvern, from the view of Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge. Clinical lead Flynn Byron (Olly Rix) is walking along the bridge as the explosion erupts. Outside of the ED, consultant Dylan Keogh (William Beck), clinical fellow Rash Masum (Neet Moham), senior staff nurse Rida Amaan (Sarah Seggari) and her junior Cam Mickelthwaite (Barney Walsh) stand in shock, and there’s a brief glimpse of an unnerved Dr Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless). The actor rose to fame in the 1980s with roles in films such as John Hughes’s Sixteen Candles (1984) and Better Off Dead (1985). He went on to enjoy a successful film career with credits including High Fidelity, Being John Malkovich, Serendipity, Con Air, 1408, Say Anything, and Grosse Pointe Blank. More recently, however, Cusack has largely turned away from Hollywood films in favour of smaller projects. He has also focused on his interests beyond acting, such as writing. Love 972 is marking its 32nd anniversary with a new Mandarin musical, Legend Of The Ten Bruh. Written by Dennis Chew and directed by George Chan, the musical is inspired by the Chinese folktale of the ten brothers, which follows 10 siblings, each born with a different supernatural ability, who join forces to fight against oppressive forces. According to the synopsis, the brothers are separated from their loved ones after an unexpected crisis and set out on a rescue mission. Along the way, they encounter General Qiang Wei, his strategist Li Li Li, and a series of comic obstacles. The production stars Love 972 DJs including Chew, Chen Biyu, Bukoh Mary and Chua Lee Lian, alongside guest artistes including actor Elvin Ng. It will also feature Mandarin pop classics from the 1980s to the early 2000s, woven into the story. Legend Of The Ten Bruh will be staged at The Theatre at Mediacorp on Sep 25 and 26. Earlier this month (July, 2026), I attended a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis, in Lausanne, Switzerland. The ISPS had been founded there, in 1956, by two young Swiss psychoanalysts, Gaetano Benedetti and Christian Muller, who were dissatisfied with reductionist, biological understandings and treatments of “schizophrenia.” Today, ISPS has branches in more than 20 countries. Nearly 500 members and supporters came to Lausanne for our 24th international congress, entitled “Back to the Future; Inspired by Pioneers.” Thank you Dag Söderström and Phillipe Conus for organizing this wonderful event. Although I only joined in 2000, it seems I have been actively involved long enough to qualify as a pioneer, as I was invited to give the opening keynote address to the conference—a real honour. In those 26 years of membership, including 10 years on the International Board and six as chair of the New Zealand branch, I have seen ISPS grow and change in leaps and bounds. It’s now an integral part of the capital’s bustling Latin Quarter, and as it celebrates its centenary, worshippers are reflecting on being Muslim in today’s France. The rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris sees it as a symbol of interfaith dialogue and France’s diversity, but worries about religious tensions in the country linked to conflicts in the Middle East and the polarizing campaign for next year’s presidential election. “It’s the responsibility of everyone to see Muslims as a part of the national community,” Chems-eddine Hafiz told The Associated Press. Apple is reportedly prototyping a larger iPhone display measuring roughly 6.96 inches, which would likely be marketed as a 7-inch panel if it reaches production. According to Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, Apple is testing the display internally in preparation for the 20th anniversary iPhone, which is expected to launch next year. The leaker said that the screen ratio is the same as the current iPhone 17 Pro Max, but whether the display is ultimately used in the iPhone 20 Pro Max remains unconfirmed at this stage. Last month, Bloomberg reported that Apple had started ramping up work on two sizes of the 20th anniversary iPhone. Multiple rumors have suggested the device will have an edge-to-edge display with curved glass at all sides for a nearly borderless visual effect.
