The MacRumors Show: Gemini Announcements and Apple Watch Series 12 Rumors

On this week’s episode of The MacRumors Show, we discuss Google’s latest wave of announcements for Android and Gemini, the newly announced Fitbit Air, and Apple Watch Series 12 rumors. The centerpiece of Google’s announcements this week was Gemini Intelligence, Google’s new umbrella platform for AI across phones, watches, cars, and laptops. Its headline capability is cross-app automation: users can photograph an event flyer and ask Gemini to find tickets on Expedia, or pull up a grocery list and have it build a cart in a shopping app. A companion feature called Create My Widget lets users describe a home screen widget in natural language and have Gemini generate it, drawing from Gmail and Calendar to build a personalized dashboard. Google also unveiled the Googlebook, a new laptop category designed from the ground up around Gemini with partners including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo arriving this fall. Gemini in Chrome for Android gained an agentic browsing layer rolling out end of June, and Android Auto received AI-generated contextual replies and DoorDash voice ordering. A …

The Android Show I/O Edition: All the biggest announcements

Google I/O 2026 takes place on May 19, but today, Google hosted a livestreamed warm-up event called The Android Show: I/O Edition. As you might have guessed, it’s mostly focused on Android news. In the past, Google I/O was focused on new Android developments. Now, Google gets that stuff out of the way a week in advance, clearing the decks for Gemini and artificial intelligence to take center stage at I/O. Much of what was shared at The Android Show was fairly small and incremental, but between a new Google laptop brand and some useful-sounding Gemini features, there’s some meat to chew on here. So, let’s dig into everything we learned at The Android Show. Mashable 101 Fan Fave: Vote for your favorite creator today! To close out his Nvidia GTC keynote on Monday, CEO Jensen Huang brought out an unexpected guest: a walking, talking robot version of Olaf, the animated snowman from Disney’s Frozen movie. Huang explained to robo-Olaf that he’s run on Nvidia’s Jetson platform and learned to walk inside the company’s Omniverse simulator Olaf’s responses didn’t always make sense — the conversation was awkward, but the idea was clear: in the future, robotic characters could be wandering around Disneyland using Nvidia’s tech.  Also: Nvidia wants to own your AI data center from end to end Physical AI — AI systems embedded in machines like robots or cars that navigate real-world environments, as opposed to models stuck in the cloud or on your phone — has been gaining steam over the last …

Missing From Apple’s Announcements: iPad 12 With Apple Intelligence

Missing From Apple’s Announcements: iPad 12 With Apple Intelligence

In his newsletter over the weekend, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman said Apple was likely to announce at least some but possibly not all of the following products between March 2 and March 4: the iPhone 17e, MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, updated entry-level iPad and iPad Air models, and a lower-cost MacBook with an iPhone chip. As it turns out, Apple announced nearly all of those products, with the sole exception being an updated entry-level iPad. In fact, we got two more products on top, in the form of an updated Studio Display and a higher-end Studio Display XDR. Apple is not expected to unveil any additional products this week, so the wait for an iPad 12 continues for now. The device is expected to have two key upgrades over the iPad 11, including a faster A18 chip and Apple Intelligence support. In fact, one rumor claimed that the iPad 12 might even be powered by Apple’s latest A19 chip. No other major changes have been rumored so far for the iPad 12, so we expect the …

I went to MWC 2026, and these are the best announcements I saw at the mobile show

I went to MWC 2026, and these are the best announcements I saw at the mobile show

It isn’t the first time I’ve seen a modular phone, and it likely won’t be the last, but this concept device from Chinese smartphone maker Tecno caught my eye. It’s an exceptionally thin Android smartphone with a couple of connectors on the back that’s used to attach various gadgets. One module turns the phone into a complete camera system with a massive lens. The display acts as a viewfinder, though the weight distribution didn’t feel quite right when I tried it – I almost dropped it when I picked it up. Other smaller, less unwieldy modules can attach to the phone, including a smaller camera lens, a speaker, a vanity mirror, a wallet and a wireless microphone. A Bluetooth tracker that’s compatible with both Apple and Google Apple recently announced a new AirTag, but at MWC, Chinese company Xiaomi announced its first-ever tracker, and it works with both Apple’s ‘Find My’ app and Google’s ‘Find Hub’. A coin cell battery powers the Xiaomi Tag, which it says with last for around a year like Apple’s …

MWC 2026 Updates: News, Updates and Product Announcements

The entrance to Mobile World Congress in 2025. Tara Brown/CNET Mobile World Congress 2026 is kicking off on Monday, teeing up a week that’s likely to be filled with product announcements and futuristic phone concepts. Our expectations for this year’s MWC 2026 include upcoming phones that we already know about — including the Nothing Phone 4A that’s set to launch March 5 — along with launch events from companies like Xiaomi and Honor. Motorola’s also attending, and considering the company revealed its upcoming Razr Fold at CES 2026, we’d expect the company to provide more details about the book-style folding phone. We’ve also historically seen concepts at MWC that have never made it beyond the development stage but are still so cool to see. That’s included Motorola debuting a flexible phone concept that you can wear on your wrist and Lenovo showing a solar-charging laptop. And even though Apple isn’t expected to attend MWC, it’s quite possible that the company might be debuting the rumored iPhone 17E over the course of the week. Apple has …
