After taking over Malibu Pier early Friday evening to present its summer 2027 runway presentation, Zegna brought the party to West Hollywood’s Bar Marmont for a post-show celebration lit up by a surprise performance by the Sparks. Front row stars from the worlds of fashion, film, music and sports including Rami Malek, Stellan Skarsgard, Paul Dano, Roman Coppola, Gael García Bernal, Kevin Love, Ludwig Goransson and others turned up on Zegna’s curated scene, which was designed to “blur the line between fashion show, cinema and cultural gathering.” To accomplish this, Zegna recruited Ron and Russell Mael and their Sparks band — on a night off from their international tour — to perform a rousing set that got the crowd dancing. I’m perched on a tall stool at a new Manchester bar, perusing a menu of fishy things and various aquatically adjacent items: Lindisfarne oysters, devilled eggs with brown crab and trout roe, hand-dived razor clams and scallop tartare with elderflower dressing. Bar Shrimp sits on New York Street, which feels weirdly fitting, because this place is much more “quietly sceney” New York than anything remotely “aren’t we edgy?” London. Glass-fronted, with discreet net curtains and a Tracey Emin-esque neon name sign, inside it’s draped, floor-to-ceiling, in red, just like in those red room scenes in Twin Peaks. The State Bar of California has charged the partners of Downtown LA Law Group, a law firm at the center of a scandal that has consumed Los Angeles County’s $4-billion sex abuse settlement, with signing up clients in states where they had no license to practice. The bar charged Farid Yaghoubtil and Daniel Azizi, two founding partners of the personal injury firm, and Igor Fradkin, a litigation attorney, on Monday with signing up accident victims across the U.S., despite having no attorneys who could litigate the cases outside California. The firm took on clients in Texas, Florida, Maryland, Arizona, Iowa, Michigan, Tennessee and Virginia, according to the complaint. Downtown LA Law Group, or DTLA, said in a statement that the cases highlighted by the bar “are multi-jurisdiction with California defendants.” “DTLA is confident they will be able to resolve the matter to the satisfaction of both the State Bar and our law firm,” the firm said. WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republicans cleared the first hurdle on Thursday as they are struggling to pass legislation to fund President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement agencies, narrowly beating back a Democratic effort to permanently block Trump from creating a $1.776 billion settlement fund for payouts to allies who claim they were persecuted by the government. Republicans still face a gauntlet of Democratic amendments before the bill can advance, setting up a daylong test of party unity. More votes on the settlement fund are planned, including proposals from Republicans, and it was unclear if GOP leaders would be able to fend them all off and pass the legislation. “I can’t predict how it comes out,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters between discussions with some of the holdouts off the Senate floor. Shia LaBeouf has pleaded guilty to charges relating to an altercation during an extended Mardi Gras bar crawl that erupted into violence. During an arraignment on Wednesday, magistrate Judge Juana Lombard issued LaBeouf a six-month suspended sentence with two years’ probation. He must also receive rehabilitation for alcohol abuse, sensitivity training and anger management classes. The actor was charged with three counts of battery for fighting two men involved in ejecting him from a bar, where he was allegedly causing a disturbance and displaying violent aggression. Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 30-year-old woman died following a shooting outside a bar in Sheffield, police have said. Officers were called to the scene at 2.45am on Monday morning following reports of a shooting outside the One Four One bar on West Street, South Yorkshire Police said. Police attended the scene where the woman was found with serious injuries and treated. She was taken to hospital where she later died, according to the force. Formal identification has yet to take place, but the woman’s family have been informed and is being supported by officers.
