A new trailer from ITV shows the moment Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) is rushed to hospital in Coronation Street. She’s had a terribly tough few years, first losing her boyfriend Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) in a knife attack, and then discovering that her ‘dead’ mum Becky (Amy Cudden) was still alive. Becky then made an attempt at reuniting with ex-wife Lisa (Vicky Myers), keeping her partner Carla Connor (Alison King) hostage in an airing cupboard and then bundling her into a shipping container. Believing that Carla had given up on their relationship, Lisa prepared to leave for a new life with Becky and Betsy abroad. When her crimes were uncovered, a new beginning for the Connor-Swains was on the horizon. However, married life won’t be going without a hitch – perhaps the soap gods were signifying that the murder on the night of their wedding was an inkling at darker days to come.
