A new trailer from ITV shows the moment Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) is rushed to hospital in Coronation Street.
She’s had a terribly tough few years, first losing her boyfriend Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) in a knife attack, and then discovering that her ‘dead’ mum Becky (Amy Cudden) was still alive.
Becky then made an attempt at reuniting with ex-wife Lisa (Vicky Myers), keeping her partner Carla Connor (Alison King) hostage in an airing cupboard and then bundling her into a shipping container. Believing that Carla had given up on their relationship, Lisa prepared to leave for a new life with Becky and Betsy abroad.
When her crimes were uncovered, a new beginning for the Connor-Swains was on the horizon.
However, married life won’t be going without a hitch – perhaps the soap gods were signifying that the murder on the night of their wedding was an inkling at darker days to come.
The seemingly never-ending cycle of misery continues for the beloved couple next week when Betsy is found unconscious on the floor of their kitchen after making spaghetti with boyfriend Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).
As the trailer shows, the teenager is rushed into Weatherfield General, and following an MRI scan, begins to suffer a seizure.
Betsy’s parents keep vigil by her bedside, but as this week’s spoilers revealed, detective Lisa soon makes it her mission to discover who was responsible for her daughter’s sudden bout of ill health.
But what exactly has happened to Betsy? And why does Lisa point her finger towards Dylan?
The youngster seemingly has no idea himself, and proudly shows Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) the gifts he’s bought for Betsy’s hospital stay.
Although she pleads with her mum not to blame Dylan, suspicion continues to grow. Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) becomes increasingly concerned when his son shuts down the offer to visit Betsy together, while Lisa later publicly accuses Dylan of causing her daughter’s condition.
She then heads to the police station to report a crime.
When Lauren tells Dylan that Betsy doesn’t want to see him, his world comes crashing down. Soon afterwards, Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) is stunned to witness officers arresting him in the precinct, and Betsy is horrified to learn that her mum was responsible.
Later, Dylan makes a dramatic accusation of his own by claiming Brody was really responsible for what happened to Betsy.
But how will Brody and Betsy respond as the blame game takes another explosive turn?
