Apple TV’s New Camboy Crime Thriller Is the Perfect Summer Binge

Apple TV’s New Camboy Crime Thriller Is the Perfect Summer Binge

Apple TV and sex workers — who’d have thought they’d make such a delightful pairing? Earlier this year, the streaming service released the drama series Margo’s Got Money Troubles, based on the book of the same name, which follows a young woman as she turns to cam work to support herself and her new baby.  It’s a great show, and you definitely should check it out. That said, I should point out that this article isn’t about that Apple TV show; it’s about a different one involving the same sorta thing — and it involves blackmail, fraud and murder. That sounds heavy, I know, but I assure you, the show I am talking about is a comedy. A dark comedy, mind you, but still.  Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed is the program I’m talking about. The series drops new episodes each Wednesday on Apple TV and is in the middle of its first season. If everything I’ve said thus far has piqued your interest, keep reading, because this here’s a show you should be paying attention to. …

Binge Drinking Has Never Been Easier

Binge Drinking Has Never Been Easier

Until recently, cocktails were a rarity at baseball stadiums. Beer was far easier to grab on the go, and getting rowdy fans liquored up was in no one’s best interest. Liquor was limited, sometimes exclusively to air-conditioned suites where cosmopolitans could be sipped far from the masses. And yet, on Memorial Day weekend, I found myself squeezed into the stands at Wrigley Field drinking a mai tai, next to a stranger drinking a margarita. My seatmate and I were having Cutwaters, a line of canned cocktails from Anheuser-Busch. The stadium’s beer stand offered canned Long Island iced teas, canned palomas, even canned espresso martinis. Alcohol companies have been trying to make the idea of portable cocktails stick for more than a century, and they have finally succeeded. In 2025, Americans consumed nearly 11 billion servings of ready-to-drink cocktails, according to IWSR, a data firm that tracks trends in the alcohol industry. Depending on your state, you can now buy Cutwaters at CVS, Walmart, and Trader Joe’s. A four-pack, which contains about six to eight shots’ …

Eating ultraprocessed foods may be linked to rise in binge eating

Eating ultraprocessed foods may be linked to rise in binge eating

Get the Well Enough newsletter with Harry Bullmore for tips on living a healthier, happier and longer life Get the Well Enough email with Harry Bullmore Get the Well Enough email with Harry Bullmore There’s a lot we know is risky about eating ultraprocessed foods. Cookies, candies, fries and smoked meats have been tied to risks to heart, brain and immune health in studies conducted in recent years. Now, a new 50-year analysis from the University of Michigan ties these foods to binge eating that can raise blood sugar, blood pressure and levels of harmful cholesterol that lead to artery blockages. A whopping 70 percent of foods people ate during binge episodes were ultraprocessed, research from 1973-2023 revealed. Just 15 percent were minimally processed, such as fruits and vegetables, and it was rare that people only binged minimally processed foods. The findings point to a “major blind spot in eating disorder research,” the Michigan authors suggest in a related release. The foods in binge eating episodes have largely been ignored when studying the disorder. “Binge …

Monkeys discover unusual tactic that lets them binge on junk food – don’t try this at home | UK | News

Monkeys discover unusual tactic that lets them binge on junk food – don’t try this at home | UK | News

Gibraltar’s famous Barbary macaques have hit upon a clever but dirty solution to the perils of tourist handouts: swallowing soil to settle their stomachs after gorging on chocolate, crisps, ice cream and other junk food. A University of Cambridge study has, for the first time, documented regular “geophagy” – intentional dirt-eating – among the only free-ranging monkey population in Europe. Troops with the closest contact with holidaymakers eat far more soil, with rates spiking during the busy summer season. Researchers believe the high-sugar, high-fat, low-fibre snacks disrupt the monkeys’ gut microbiome and cause digestive misery. Eating dirt appears to act as a natural buffer, lining the gut, supplying minerals and beneficial bacteria, and limiting the absorption of irritating compounds. Dr Sylvain Lemoine, a biological anthropologist at Cambridge, explained: “Foods brought by tourists and eaten by Gibraltar’s macaques are extremely rich in calories, sugar, salt and dairy. This is completely unlike the foods typically consumed by the species, such as herbs, leaves, seeds and the occasional insect.” The behaviour lets the monkeys keep bingeing on calorie-dense …
