More than 70,000 pints worth of Guinness has been stolen by thieves who took two HGV trailers from a depot, police have said. About 800 barrels of the stout, estimated to be worth £115,000, were taken from an industrial estate in Runcorn on Monday, a Cheshire Constabulary spokesman said. The force is hoping for a full recovery of the stolen items and has appealed for witnesses who may have seen a lorry entering the Aston Lane area at about 7.45pm. The lorry is said to have connected to an HGV trailer containing the Guinness and left the site at about 7.55pm in the direction of the Mersey Gateway bridge. A second lorry arrived at the same site at 9.12pm and connected to another trailer, which also contained barrels of Guinness, before leaving at 9.30pm in the direction of Rainhill and Watkinson Way, police said. The stolen barrels, containing around 70,400 pints of the Irish tipple, had been intended to be delivered to pubs. Sony Music Publishing, Warner Chappell and numerous other music publishers have sued Anthropic and co-founders Dario Amodei and Benjamin Mann, alleging the AI lab conducted a “brazen campaign of illegally torrenting, scraping, and downloading copyrighted works.” The lawsuit, which was filed late Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, was first reported by Music Business Worldwide. The publishers accuse Anthropic of “blatant theft” by using thousands of copyrighted works to train its AI model Claude. Anthropic could not be reached for comment prior to publication. TechCrunch will update this article if the company responds. This isn’t the first intellectual property lawsuit Anthropic has faced. A West Lothian mum said her son is “devastated” after a man allegedly entered their property and took his bike in broad daylight. She told Edinburgh Live the theft was “not about the money” and that her son is “heartbroken” by the custom bike being taken. The incident took place on Saturday, June 13, around 3:06pm on the intersection of Longridge Road and Avenue in Whitburn. Her son returned from school on Friday, June 12 and left his bike in its usual spot behind a fence near their bins. Woman Fatally Stabbed “Two Dozen Times” In Brazen Daytime Attack On Atlanta’s MARTA Train
A woman riding a MARTA train in Atlanta was killed in a brutal daytime attack Saturday, suffering nearly 20 stab wounds in what investigators say was a seemingly random act of violence, according to the NY Post. Police allege that 25-year-old John Elijah Matthews approached 66-year-old Margaret Swan after boarding the train Saturday morning. Surveillance video reportedly shows him lingering near Swan before pulling out a knife and attacking her. According to court documents, Swan cried out and attempted to get away, but the suspect allegedly restrained her and repeatedly stabbed her. Investigators say the assault continued as the train neared Oakland City Station. Matthews allegedly forced Swan to the floor and remained over her while she lay gravely injured. The NY Post writes that after the attack, authorities say the suspect exited the train carrying the knife, leaving Swan motionless inside the rail car. Brazen shoplifter walks out of supermarket carrying entire display of Cadbury chocolates
A shoplifter has been jailed after targeting numerous businesses in Swansea including trying to steal an entire display of chocolates. Richard Wolsey, of no fixed abode, entered numerous supermarkets and convenience stores around Cadle, Portmead, Fforestfach, Penlan and the city centre, leaving with items to the value of as much as £657 in one instance. Video footage shared by South Wales Police shows three of the incidents, where Wolsey can be seen brashly selecting items and walking out without making any attempt to pay. On Thursday, April 16 at 7.35am Wolsey is seen entering One Stop Shop on Pentregethin Road. He wanders for a short while before he picks up a three-and-a-half tall pink display case of chocolate before walking off. The value of the chocolate taken was £90. On Tuesday, April 14 at 8.03pm Wolsey is captured on CCTV entering Tesco Express on Carmarthen Road. He appears to reach up to high shelf and grabs a pile of chocolate, which he did not pay for.
