The 46-year-old British actor and comedian plays Roy Kent, a retired footballer turned assistant coach, in the Apple TV comedy Ted Lasso, which stars Jason Sudeikis as a Midwestern American football coach hired to manage fictional side AFC Richmond despite having no experience in the sport. Upon its 2020 debut, the show became an immediate success and set a record for the highest number of Emmy nominations received by a first-season comedy, with Goldstein winning the award for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy in both 2021 and 2022. Lesley Manville Joins Brett Goldstein in ‘Escorted’ at Prime Video

Prime Video‘s comedy Escorted, starring and created by Brett Goldstein, is adding Lesley Manville to its cast. The newly crowned Tony Award winner will play the mother of Goldstein’s character in the series. Her casting marks a return to Prime Video for Manville, who also stars in the Amazon-owned streamer’s Citadel. Escorted, which Prime Video ordered to series late last year, stars Goldstein (Ted Lasso, Shrinking) as Denny, a divorced dad in Manhattan who accidentally becomes a male escort. Prime Video describes the show as a “romantic comedy about sexual dynamics, keeping secrets, and whether real intimacy can ever be bought.” Manville (The Crown, Phantom Thread) will play Terri, Denny’s mother and a “charisma bomb” cabaret singer. Her character is a force of nature with a voice to match. Manville won a Tony Award on Sunday for best lead actress in a play for Oedipus. “You Have to Be Born in New York to Be a New Yorker”

“So what’s your take?” That’s Kareem Rahma’s signature question on his buzzy video series SubwayTakes, and he lobbed the question in Jennifer Lopez’s direction on a brand new episode. The veteran superstar, who is in the middle of promoting her new Netflix romantic comedy Office Romance opposite Brett Goldstein, shot back a take that went viral in short order. “You have to be born in New York to be a New Yorker,” said the “Jenny From the Block” singer who hit the block after being born in the Bronx to Puerto Rican parents. “Everybody wants to claim our city, but you have to be born in New York. You have to be born in one of the five boroughs to be a New Yorker.” You have to be born in New York to be a New Yorker!! @JLo pic.twitter.com/20WoZlMxmc — SubwayTakes with Kareem Rahma (@SubwayTakes) June 5, 2026 Rahma then explained that when he moved to New York in 2012, he was told by locals that “in 10 years, you can call yourself a New …

Jennifer Lopez’s Middling Netflix Rom-Com

Jennifer Lopez’s Middling Netflix Rom-Com

The first time I saw some very online person smugly trot out the line “I do not dream of labor” in response to an anodyne prompt about dream jobs, my eyes rolled reflexively to the back of my head. No one dreams of the labor part, I remember thinking. It’s supposed to be a question about your interests, your priorities, your contributions as you see them in the world. But as I watched Netflix’s Office Romance, in which two colleagues woo each other with lines like, “For most people, work is something you have to endure to get to the weekend. But for me, this is the best part,” I found that retort bubbling up in my head again, this time in my own voice. I do not dream of labor. But these people really, really do, to an extent that gives what ought to be a fluffy Jennifer Lopez rom-com vehicle a faintly dispiriting feel. Office Romance The Bottom Line Not worth running afoul of HR for. Release date: Friday, June 5 (Netflix)Cast: Jennifer …
