Why Prince Edward is the perfect antidote to his disgraced brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

Why Prince Edward is the perfect antidote to his disgraced brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

I have just got back from Portugal after a whirlwind three days with the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and thought I’d share some of my thoughts with you. I have been on a few overseas royal tours in my time, including with Prince William and Kate and with the King and Queen, whom I joined in Australia in 2023. But this trip was different. While the King travels with a huge entourage and has dozens of members of the press in tow, Prince Edward and Sophie’s trip was far more low-key, and gave me a chance to observe them up close – something I haven’t had an opportunity to do so before. I was one of a very small handful of media who joined this tour, so rather than travelling around on a fleet of buses with writers, photographers and camera crews, we were ferried around in a people carrier and followed the royal couple in convoy – led by police outriders – as they travelled between engagements. I cooked for Andy Murray’s brother at Wimbledon

I cooked for Andy Murray’s brother at Wimbledon

When a surprise Instagram message from one of the most famous surnames on the international tennis circuit landed in private chef Jonny Marsh’s inbox, he had no idea it would lead to some of the best weeks of his career.  Nicknamed the “football feeder” after carving out a career fuelling some of the game’s most beloved players, the Leigh native, 35, has worked inside professional sportsmen’s kitchens ever since a Manchester City player liaison officer headhunted him over a decade ago.  However, the chance to feed Jamie Murray for two weeks while he competed on the grass at Wimbledon was an extraordinary opportunity, even for the likes of Jonny, whose previous clients included Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Curtis Jones and Aaron Ramsey.  Admittedly apprehensive about taking on the challenge, what awaited him – and his wife, Scottish professional footballer Claire Emsley, who came along for the trip – was nothing like the gruelling job he had initially expected.  With an all-access, behind-the-scenes look inside a world he had yet to …

Charles Spencer, Princess Diana’s Brother, Marries Fourth Wife in Arizona

My Phone Told Me My Brother Was Dead

My Phone Told Me My Brother Was Dead

The official statement says my brother and his four-year-old daughter were not the target. But death psychologically blurs the line between intention and consequence. March 12, 2026: Airstrike on a residential building in Lebanon. 1:57 a.m. Mohamad Shehab, 37, and his 4-year-old daughter Taline, were killed instantly together. The target was not the man. There was no warning, it is said. This is not a political tale. It’s a psychological one, about what happens when precision warfare collides with ordinary family life and what that does to the human mind. The Euphemistic Language of “Collateral Damage” Military slang is designed to fulfill a psychological need. Words such as “collateral damage,” or “unintended consequence”, or “kinetic effect” boil human suffering down to bureaucratic categories. This is what psychologist Albert Bandura called moral disengagement, the process of distancing ourselves from the human impact of our actions so they become acceptable. But there is no abstraction for the family receiving the news. A father is missing. The child who used to love to dress up for her mother’s …

Big Brother Is ReTruthing You

Big Brother Is ReTruthing You

The model of an authoritarian leader that the 20th century instilled in the Western imagination is a master of lies. Big Brother commands a machinery of propaganda that bombards his subjects with relentless projections of strength, combined with savaging of enemies real or imagined. Donald Trump resembles this archetype in many ways, both superficially (the obsession with building new monuments to his greatness or renaming existing structures after him) and substantively (pressuring media and business into capitulating, turning the power ministries into organs of vengeance). But he differs in one key aspect: The president is a recipient and victim of propaganda as much as he is an originator of it. Trump’s strange, symbiotic relationship with the world of lies was in evidence last night, when he experienced one of his periodic social-media crashouts. From 10:15 to 10:53 p.m. EST, he shared more than two dozen posts on his Truth Social account alleging a blizzard of conspiracies. Roughly half of them centered on Barack Obama, whom the posts accused of having committed treason, having attempted a …
