Last night at the National Television Awards, the Call the Midwife cast won the Returning Drama award for the second year in a row. Taking place at the O2 Arena in London on Tuesday 8 September, the ceremony saw the cast reflecting on the end of series 15, while creator Heidi Thomas teased the show’s potential future. When asked in the winners’ room if there was any news on series 16, Heidi told HELLO! and other members of the press: “I don’t have any news on series 16 yet. I’ve been completely immersed in Sisters in Arms. Call the Midwife star Helen George has revealed her ADHD diagnosis. Appearing on the podcast, I’m ADHD! No You’re Not, the 41-year-old mum-of-two explained how she was learning to live with the condition in order to “function best so that you can mother best”. Helen George enjoyed a star-studded date night with her beau, Dan Innes, on Thursday evening. Pictured at the Ham Yard Hotel in London, the couple – who confirmed their romance in January 2025 – got dressed up for a private screening of Call The Midwife‘s season 15 finale. Viewers hail the BBC’s 6-part drama Informer as the ‘best British crime drama’ as it returns to iPlayer

With so many good TV shows knocking around, sometimes it’s difficult to catch everything you want to do. Thankfully, for those who missed Informer the first time around, BBC iPlayer has recently added the six-part thriller back to its archive. The crime drama follows Raza (Nabhaan Rizwan) after he is coerced into becoming a police informant for the CTSU, a fictional anti-terrorism unit. The show’s synopsis reads: “Gabe (Paddy Considine), who has a past he wants to remain secret, is joined by Holly, his new and ambitious partner (Bel Powley) whose endless curiosity becomes a threat to him. As the central counter-terrorism investigation heats up, the stakes for all three, their families and relationships, get higher and higher. “Informer tells a story about identity in a world where lines are increasingly being drawn and sides are being taken. The BBC has unveiled a first look at its upcoming drama, Two Weeks in August – and it looks like a must-watch. The series, which features a star-studded cast led by Call the Midwife‘s Jessica Raine and Bergerac actor Damien Molony, follows a group of friends reuniting for a summer holiday in Greece. Call the Midwife fans, rejoice: we’re officially getting a prequel! The beloved period drama series, which follows a group of midwives living in the East End of London in the late ’50s and beyond, is not only coming back for a 16th season, but is getting an exciting new spin-off this year.  While viewers eagerly await the prequel set in the Second World War, the show’s creator, Heidi Thomas, has already teased what we can expect. Heidi shared at the Radio Times Covers Party 2026 that Sister Julienne, Sister Evangelina and Sister Monica Joan are all set to return. It seems to be getting serious for Helen George, who looked happier than ever in new photos from her recent family holiday to Lapland, featuring her new boyfriend, Dan Innes. The Call the Midwife actress, 41, jetted off for a winter escape with her adorable daughters, Wren, six,  and Lark, three, and felt it was time that her new beau join in the fun. The quartet were photographed enjoying the snowy sights, witnessing the Northern Lights, as well as paying a visit to Father Christmas. “Lows of -32°, highs of Aurora, Husky’s, whiskeys, sauna hats. Magical memories in Lapland,” Helen wrote, captioning the post.  Helen shared a series of photos featuring her beau from the trip “Love love love these photos. Call The Midwife star Christopher Harper, who plays Trixie’s brother Geoffrey, has teased that season 15 will “hit people’s hearts” when it returns to the BBC on Sunday at 8pm, picking up after the emotional Christmas special.
