Tough break, Big Break x Good Good winner. Golf Channel has canceled its fully filmed 2026 season of Big Break, the Versant-owned cable network’s signature reality competition series. It sort of had no choice — or at least no ultimate purpose for airing the season as planned. “Following recent developments involving Good Good, and including the fact that the intended outcome of the series can no longer be fulfilled, Golf Channel will not be able to complete this season of Big Break as planned,” Golf Channel said in a statement. “While we are disappointed for the 12 competitors, our production team that worked tirelessly on the season, and the show’s passionate fans, we look forward to Big Break’s return to Golf Channel in 2027.” Big Break aired on Golf Channel from 2003-2015. The ministry of justice’s rehabilitation bureau announced on Friday that it was ending its tie-up with Badly in Love season two, which follows young men and women from Japan’s “yankii” subculture as they live together, pursue relationships, and confront difficult pasts. Yankii refers to a Japanese youth subculture associated with delinquent behaviour, rebellious attitudes, and distinctive styles, particularly from the 1970s onwards, with yankii often portrayed through dyed or styled hair, modified school uniforms, motorcycles and, in some cases, involvement in street gangs. Dreame is no longer planning to build the electric hypercar it unveiled in April, which it had said would have solid rocket boosters to achieve 0-60mph in 0.9 seconds. It’s also shuttering the rest of its car-related ambitions. As the trend continues of basically every company on the planet saying they’re thinking about building an electric car, Dreame, a Chinese company known for its robot vacuums and other home appliances, announced starting last year that it wanted to build luxury electric hypercars. Dreame went on to unveil its first hypercar at CES this year, and even said that it plans to make an SUV to compete with the Rolls Royce Cullinan. But then its announcements got even more wild. In April, it hosted an event in San Francisco to describe the future of its brand and products, and one of the announcements included a rocket-powered version of its hypercar. David Mitchell may be seeing success as the lead in Ludwig, but another of the actor’s BBC shows is faring far less well. Sitcom Upstart Crow has been cancelled despite a dedicated fanbase and Bafta nomination. Written by Blackadder‘s Ben Elton, the comedy series starred Mitchell as William Shakespeare and follows his early career in Elizabethan London. Liza Tarbuck also starred as Anne Hathaway with Mark Heap playing the Bard’s rival Robert Greene; the series was named after an insulting nickname that Greene had given to Shakespeare. Sir Kenneth Branagh, Lily Cole and Ben Miller were among the special guests to cameo. The BBC has now cancelled the show, making the third Christmas special, which aired in 2020, its final bow. Hulu has decided not to renew the Mindy Kaling-created series Not Suitable for Work for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The comedy series, which premiered in June and ran for nine episodes, starred Ella Hunt (AJ), Avantika Vandanapu (Abby), Will Angus (Davis), Jack Martin (Josh), Nicholas Duvernay (Kel) and Jay Ellis (Bill). It centered on “five work-obsessed 20-somethings striving for professional success and, if they have time, personal happiness in Manhattan’s most glamorous neighborhood, Murray Hill,” per the show’s logline. Warner Bros. Television, which produced Not Suitable for Work, plans to shop the show around for a potential new home. A planned Monday meeting between David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance and California state officials, designed to kick off ‌settlement talks over the state’s lawsuit to block the entertainment company’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, has been called off at the last moment, California attorney general Rob Bonta said. He is one of a group of state attorneys general (AG) that have taken aim at the planned mega-merger. “Not only did Paramount leak the alleged substance of settlement discussions, but they misrepresented these discussions, demonstrating a lack of good faith,” Bonta said in a statement. “As soon as Paramount stops playing games and engages sincerely, my office is happy to meet again.” A dozen AGs, led by Bonta, whose antitrust lawsuit last month seeking to block the merger has been a thorn in Ellison’s side, have spoken out against the mega-deal, which could lead to the divestiture of Warner Bros. assets and cost more than $1 billion in “ticking-clock” fees ahead of a March trial, among other potential fallout. The Swift space observatory has been in operation since 2004. It specializes in gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), the most energetic electromagnetic explosions known in the universe. Its original mission was supposed to last just two years. More than two decades later, it continues to explore some of the most violent phenomena in the cosmos. Now it is nearing the end of its life. Swift doesn’t have a propulsion system capable of significantly raising its orbit. Although it is hundreds of kilometers above the Earth’s surface, there are still atmospheric particles at that altitude that exert a small but constant drag on the satellite. With each orbit around Earth, it loses a tiny amount of energy and, little by little, altitude as well. If this process continues without intervention it will eventually reenter the atmosphere. NASA knew that Swift had limited time left. Some models had indicated that the observatory could remain in orbit until the 2030s, but increased solar activity during 2024 changed those projections.
