However, it’s a different story in the fantastical vision that he shares with supporters on social media. Over Labor Day weekend, Trump and the White House unleashed an extraordinarily heavy torrent of memes that portrayed the president as singularly powerful. One video depicted Trump as a superhero wielding Green Lantern’s ring to effortlessly build a wall to keep out migrants and erect a slew of busy factories. Another post showed him in a U.S. hockey uniform looming over Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney as Carney cowered on the ice. And another had Trump on a military ship as it bombarded an enemy fleet. Trump’s allure has always relied on a mythical version of himself, from “The Apprentice” to the White House, but the gap between meme and reality has become glaringly stark ahead of the midterm elections. Researchers from the University of Essex analysed data from 17,661 patients with knee or hip osteoarthritis and found participation in higher-impact physical activity, such as running or tennis, was associated with 36 per cent to 48 per cent lower odds of needing a total hip replacement within 12 months. It also found that participating in higher-impact activity was not associated with increased odds of needing a total knee replacement within 12 months. The authors say their findings “challenge the assumption that high-impact activity is inherently harmful in osteoarthritis”. They added that the findings suggest that higher impact physical activity “should not be routinely discouraged based on joint replacement risk alone”. The drumbeat by President Donald Trump and his allies about the perceived threats of voting by people who are not U.S. citizens is getting louder as the November election approaches. This week, the Republican candidate for governor in Maine confirmed an audio recording in which he said he plans to ask Trump’s border czar to send U.S. marshals and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to polling places in the state to ensure that only legal voters are casting ballots. Evidence of noncitizens voting is continuing to “pile up,” White House spokesperson Lauren Bis said when asked about the census report. In fact, voting by noncitizens is extremely rare and is punishable as a felony that carries the potential for deportation. Kalshi is disputing a New York Times report about the expanding legal and political battle over prediction markets, including questions about sports betting, taxes, consumer safeguards and federal intervention. The company responded August 27 as 20 states face active litigation involving Kalshi or other prediction markets. A meta-analysis of more than 4.2 million people revealed that recreational exercise—such as walking, cycling, running, swimming, or playing sports—is linked to a substantially lower risk of dementia. Physical activity performed as part of employment appears to be associated with a higher risk of developing the condition.
