Corrie favourite confirmed for big soap return – on a different show

Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent has joined the cast of Hollyoaks for a “powerful storyline”. The actress played Sally and Kevin Webster’s daughter Sophie on the ITV soap for 15 years from 2004, before going on maternity leave in 2019. The news of her casting was revealed in a post on the star’s official Instagram account, which featured a photo of herself on set alongside a caption which read: “So excited to be joining the cast of Hollyoaks for such a powerful storyline.” She added: “I am so grateful for this opportunity to be back on screen playing a brand new character plus my family will be happy I’m back in a full time job haha!” Details of her new storyline in Hollyoaks remain under wraps. Crookhaven, featuring Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh and Vigil’s Dougray Scott, has been given a confirmed released date on the BBC – and it’s coming to screens soon! Billed as a “gripping mystery”, the eight-part family-friendly drama from Northern Ireland Screen is based upon the beloved children’s books of the same name by JJ Arcanjo. In a secret academy for crooks, students – or Crooklings as they are dubbed – train in forgery, lock-picking and deception to “do wrong” for the right reasons, with the ultimate goal of restoring balance to the world. The first episode will air at 3:05pm on Sunday 22 March on BBC One with a second episode to follow after at 3:50pm. The entire series will be released on BBC iPlayer at the same time. It’s been revealed that Jim McDonald, the father of long-running character Steve (Simon Gregson), will die off screen in scenes set to air on ITV in March. Charlie Lawson, who played Jim, confirmed the news on Tuesday (3 February). In a post on X/Twitter, the actor told a fan who enquired about Jim’s fate: “I’ve known since early September, but I’ve always respected the confidentiality of the programme.” He added: “It wasn’t a surprise when I was informed last year.” Lawson first appeared in Coronation Street in 1989, remaining a full-time cast member until 2000. Todd and Theo have been together for the last few months, but their romance has turned to horror after Theo’s true nature was slowly revealed, with the Weatherfield newcomer gradually exerting more coercive control over his partner. Over the festive period, the relationship hit a new low after the couple got into a physical altercation, with Theo subsequently manipulating events to position himself as the victim.
