See Trailer for New Thomas Crown Affair, with Michael B. Jordan as Art Thief

Amazon MGM Studios dropped this week the trailer for The Thomas Crown Affair, a remake of the acclaimed 1968 film that will open in theaters on March 5, 2027. Directed by and starring Academy Award–winning actor Michael B. Jordan, the trailer already hints at the art-related plot points for the film. About 12 seconds into the trailer, Jordan’s Thomas Crown faces some built-in bookshelves that slide apart to reveal a hidden room where he stores his stolen paintings. On a metal rack, resembling the sliding vertical racks often used in museum and gallery storage, are four paintings. Crown holds another canvas in his hands to add to his collection of looted masterpieces. Related Articles By ARTnews’s estimations, these paintings, from left to right, are Francisco Goya’s Saturn Devouring His Son (ca. 1820–23), owned by the Museo del Prado in Madrid; Henry Ossawa Tanner’s The Banjo Lesson (1893), owned by the Hampton University Museum in Virginia; Kerry James Marshall’s Silence is Golden (1986), owned by the Studio Museum in Harlem; and Caravaggio’s The Fortune Teller (ca. 1594), …

The First Teaser Trailer for Michael B. Jordan’s Remake of The Thomas Crown Affair Is Here

On Tuesday, Michael B. Jordan, Academy Award winner and very muscular movie star, posted the poster for the upcoming remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, a film he directed and in which he also stars as the titular character. And on Wednesday, Amazon MGM Studios released the teaser trailer for the movie, which will arrive in theaters in March 2027. The minute-and-a-half-long clip features everything you’d expect from an MBJ film: tons of action scenes, some glamour shots of his upper body, and a stunning love interest, which in this case is Adria Arjona. It also features most of what one would expect from The Thomas Crown Affair: the interior of a beautiful museum, which here looks like the Great Hall steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art; a prized art piece, which here seems to be one of, or a reference to, Vincent van Gogh’s famous sunflower paintings; and some heist-adjacent behavior. There is, however, one key piece of the puzzle missing: the fashion. This is the fourth version of The Thomas Crown Affair. …

Politics Home | Lord Glasman Wrote A Song For The Exiled Crown Prince Of Iran And Played It To Him

Lord Glasman at a rally outside the US Embassy in London, calling for the end of the Islamic regime in Iran (Amanda Rose/Alamy) 3 min read2 hr Exclusive: Labour peer Maurice Glasman wrote and recorded a song dedicated to Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last Shah of Iran, in support of his exiled dynasty returning to power. Pahlavi, the eldest son of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, was designated Crown Prince of Iran in 1967 before the monarchy was abolished during the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Following the death of his father, Reza Pahlavi declared himself Shah of Iran.  Having lived in the US as a dissident in exile since the revolution, Pahlavi is a prominent critic of the Iranian government and called for the recent protests that led to a brutal crackdown.  He campaigned to step up to become the new leader of Iran, but after Ali Khameini’s assassination in US-backed Israeli strikes did not result in regime change, Khameini was succeeded by his son Mojtaba as Supreme Leader. Pahlavi has said …

The Louvre’s Apollo Gallery Reopens, Without Any Crown Jewels

The Louvre’s Apollo Gallery Reopens, Without Any Crown Jewels

The Louvre reopened its now-infamous Apollo Gallery on July 22, nine months after a group of thieves lifted $102 million worth of Napoleon era jewels from the Paris museum. The brazen daytime heist took less than eight minutes, during which time thieves, disguised as construction workers, used a monte-meubles, or a moving exterior staircase, to break into the Apollo Gallery. Once inside, they quickly absconded with nine bejeweled objects, including a tiara, a necklace, earrings, and a brooch. Only Empress Eugénie’s diamond-and-emerald-encrusted crown, which the thieves dropped while escaping on scooters, has been recovered. Related Articles The lavishly decorated Apollo Gallery, however, will no longer house what remains of the Louvre’s collection of crown jewels. Instead, Louvre director Christophe Leribault told Reuters, the remaining jewels will be on view in a more secure location elsewhere in the vast museum. While the gilded gallery is currently devoid of the glass display cases that once held bejeweled objects and hardstone vessels, there is still plenty to admire in the second-floor space. The vaulted, carved ceiling is covered …

Burnham locks out all rivals to seize Labour crown | Politics | News

Fresh backers flooding in today are said to include Steve Reed, a close ally of the outgoing Prime Minister as Sir Keir’s own inner circle threw in the towel. His backing suggests even those closest to Sir Keir have accepted the leadership contest is now a foregone conclusion. He is then poised to walk into No 10 as Prime Minister on July 20, inheriting a Government still reeling from weeks of Labour civil war sparked by Sir Keir’s shock resignation. With time fast running out, no rival can now scrape together the 81 nominations needed to even mount a challenge, handing Mr Burnham the crown unopposed. It marks a stunning ascent for the former Greater Manchester Mayor, who strolled back into Parliament only last month after storming to victory in the Makerfield by-election. That win lit the fuse under Sir Keir’s premiership, with senior Labour figures rushing to fall into line behind the man dubbed the “King in the North” in the frantic weeks since. Wes Streeting, once tipped as Mr Burnham’s fiercest rival, abandoned …

It’s also time-consuming—preparation, molding, and fitting can require multiple lengthy visits separated by days or even weeks. But for patients who don’t mind the idea of letting a tiny robot into their mouth, there may be a new approach that shortens and simplifies the overall process. At the University of Basel in Switzerland, engineers are developing a wine cork-sized robotic device capable of removing the necessary portions of a tooth in need after scanning it in a single visit. This Miniature Intraoral Robot (MIR) would allow dentists to order the crown at the same time, minimizing the number of return appointments. MIR dental robot in action MIR is about 1.7 inches long and one inch …

SOUTHAMPTON, New York, June 21 : Wyndham Clark will look to claim his second U.S. Open title at Shinnecock Hills on Sunday, after building an extraordinary six-stroke lead through the first three rounds at the challenging Southampton course. The 2023 winner was seven under par through 54 holes and will hope to keep up the momentum when he tees off at 2:30 p.m. (1830 GMT) with U.S. compatriot and world number one Scottie Scheffler.  Scheffler, playing on his 30th birthday, was in a four-way tie in second spot on the leaderboard at one under par, as he bids for a career Grand Slam after winning last year’s PGA Championship and British Open. He was tied for second with South Korea’s Tom Kim and Americans Sahith Theegala and Sam Stevens. Clark has history on his side as he tees off at windy Shinnecock: of the 21 players who have led by six shots or more heading into the final round of a major, all but one have gone on to win. The U.S. Open is known …
