Sharyn Alfonsi, the longtime “60 Minutes” correspondent who clashed with CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss over a story on Trump White House immigration policies, said Wednesday her contract is not being renewed. “Over the weekend, my contract with CBS News expired, drawing to a close nearly twenty years with the network, including more than a decade at ’60 Minutes,’” Alfonsi, 54, said in a statement to The Times. “Following an intense editorial dispute over our CECOT story, repeated attempts by my representation to establish a path forward were met with absolute silence from network executives,” she added. “The message could not be clearer: my time at 60 Minutes is apparently over.” CBS News declined to comment on Alfonsi’s remarks. Her contract expired this past weekend but she remains employed at the division on an “at will” basis, which means she can be terminated at any time, according to people familiar with the discussions. Janne Sirén, the director of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum in Upstate New York, will depart his post in October after more than a decade, opening up yet another top role at a US art institution. Sirén oversaw the museum as it expanded dramatically in 2023, adding another building to its campus that doubled the AKG’s square footage. The expansion, which cost $230 million, was well-received, both within the art press and by locals, who flocked to the museum. Two ships owned by an Iranian company that the United States has accused of supplying material to Tehran’s ballistic missile program departed a Chinese chemical-storage port this week laden with cargo and headed for Iran, according to a Washington Post analysis of ship-tracking data, satellite imagery and Treasury Department records. Shawna Thomas, executive producer of CBS Mornings, is leaving the program as the new owners of Paramount are expected to reshape the network. Thomas has headed the morning show for the past five years and will step down at the end of March. Senior broadcast producer Jon Tower will run CBS Mornings on an interim basis once Thomas departs.  The news comes a day after anchor Gayle King renewed her deal to remain as co-host of CBS Mornings, after speculation about her future at the network under the new leadership of editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and president Tom Cibrowski.
