Puragen’s approach to search, capture and destroy PFAS

Puragen’s Search–Capture–Destroy framework sets out to effectively manage and eliminate PFAS, addressing the challenges operators face and highlighting the complexities of understanding the problem PFAS has become one of the most pressing environmental issues of recent times – but for operators, the biggest challenge isn’t simply the presence of PFAS in water, waste or industrial systems. It’s the growing complexity around understanding the problem, navigating regulations, and evaluating multiple treatment option solutions. PFAS is no longer a niche technical topic. It’s a regulatory, operational and reputational issue that touches multiple parts of an organisation. Despite this, many operators still find themselves asking the same fundamental questions: Where do we even start? and Where do we go next? Understanding the problem PFAS is not one substance, but a vast family of more than 14,000 synthetic chemicals. As such, PFAS have different behaviours, toxicity, persistence and treatment response. Operators need to understand which PFAS are present and what risks they pose. To add to the complexity, analytical methods are still evolving, and commercial laboratory capacity remains limited, …

Everybody Wants AI to Destroy the World

Everybody Wants AI to Destroy the World

The sky streaked orange and red as my mother drove us home to Albuquerque through the Tijeras Pass, which separates the Sandia Mountains to the north from the Manzanos to the south. “Look out for mushroom clouds,” my father said to her. “If you see them, turn around.” He did this every time we returned to town from the rugged canyon to the east, but the sunsets always egged him on. According to legend, a part of the Manzanos, whose foothills descend into Kirtland Air Force Base and then Sandia National Laboratories, had been hollowed out to hold live nuclear warheads. My father insisted that, in the event of a nuclear attack, Albuquerque was slated to receive two bombs from the sky, one each for these secret government sites. He delivered this information as if it were a law of physics or the known terms of an international treaty. I was a child, so I took it as such, staring bug-eyed at the red sky that might evaporate me. Nearly two decades later, I looked …

Russia issues horror threat to nuke America – ‘Destroy them’ | World | News

A Russian propagandist and top ally of Vladimir Putin has issued a horrifying threat to America, warning of nuclear strikes. TV and radio presenter Vladimir Solovyov reacted to a video of US Senator John Kennedy saying the US must “choke” the Russian President “to death”. Mr Kennedy told NBC News on Sunday: “We got Putin down. We’re choking him to death. We’re choking him. We’ve got to choke him to death. That’s what he understands. I’m not putting down any of the talk, and I think talk is good and it can be helpful. But I won’t faint with surprise if our guys don’t come out of there without a deal.” Solovyov responded to the senator’s comments during an episode of his radio show Full Contact, warning that Russia could retaliate with a “nuclear strike that will destroy” the US. He said: “What is the point for Americans to fight against us? What can they get? A nuclear strike that will destroy them? … “If America takes Ukraine’s side and gets involved in direct military …

You Can Now Destroy Flock Cameras for Cash in GTA V

People are not happy about Flock Safety’s automated license plate readers and the cops that allegedly misuse them. If you’re one of those ALPR-haters, you can now take out your rage in the video game Grand Theft Auto V by installing Grand Theft Automated License Plate Reader, a mod built by artist Morry Kolman. The mod installs 235 Flock cameras around the fictional Los Santos, a riff on the real-life city of Los Angeles. Players can smash and shoot down the cameras and get paid $600 for each one they destroy, which Kolman priced based on a teardown of a Flock Falcon Flex Camera by the Iowa-based civil liberties group Eyes Off of Cedar Rapids. The in-game cameras log every time a player destroys and drives by one, and players can render a photo album of their interactions. In real life, vigilantes have allegedly wrecked Flock cameras in their communities using spray-paint, saws, bullets, and even flaming projectiles. An NPR analysis found that Flock cameras have been vandalized in at least 36 states. “GTPLR is …

Destroy the Stormtrooper: On the Perils of Dehumanization

Destroy the Stormtrooper: On the Perils of Dehumanization

Consider, for a moment, the Stormtroopers in the movie Star Wars. We like to joke about how they cannot seem to fire their guns accurately or how they are simple-minded. But there is also something very unnerving about them. They are humans, but at the same time, they are also monstrous. They have arms, legs, a head, and a torso, just like the rest of us. But they are completely armored, with no skin showing. They wear a mask that resembles a skull, and they speak as if through a robotic filter. They are, to put it one way, uncanny. In a famous essay on the uncanny, Freud asserted that there is great fear to be had in things that look human but are not-quite-human, such as wax figures. The wax figure resembles a person, but it is not. It might seem amusing at first, but also unnerving. Similarly, the Stormtrooper walks and talks like a human, but it is also so armored and robotic that it becomes uncanny. And, of course, the Stormtrooper is …

“We’re Here To Destroy The White Race”: Democratic Socialist Of America Hero Declares War On West

Marxist streamer Hasan Piker has emerged as an increasingly visible, if unofficial, spokesman for the Democratic Socialists of America’s rapidly expanding political action network. He campaigned for Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong while cultivating close ties with socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. From an electoral-risk perspective, Piker is becoming a liability for Democrats. His far-left, anti-American rhetoric provides Republicans with what we called “a gift” last week. Even Hillary Clinton warned on Friday that the GOP’s “anti-communist messaging is very effective.” 💥NEW: Hillary Clinton: “It’s not just about Michigan — but the Republican messaging is: ‘communist, socialist.’ It’s gonna be a VERY effective attack.” pic.twitter.com/PS6ObKoZli — Jason Cohen 🇺🇸 (@JasonJournoDC) August 7, 2026 The Democratic Party’s failure to formally denounce Piker and distance itself from his agenda… Piker calls on his followers to “kill capitalists”: Hasan Piker calls on his followers to kill capitalists: “Yeah kill them! There have been no immediate reports of deaths or injuries. The fires are among 17 statewide, officials said. Speaking to NPR’s Morning Edition, Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown said nearly half of the city’s neighborhoods have either been evacuated or are at risk as the fire that has engulfed about 12 square miles has yet to be contained. “A very large geography has been labeled Level …

Dramatic video shows wildfires raging in east London as flames destroy 10 acres of grassland

Huge areas of country park in east London were reduced to charred earth after a raging wildfire. Dramatic video showed flames tearing through the grassland at Ingebourne Hill, in Rainham, where around 70 firefighters battled to control the blaze. It broke out at around 5pm on Saturday and led to the destruction of 10 acres of grassland, London Fire Brigade said. There were no reports of injuries but around 35 residents living on a nearby street were evacuated as a precaution. Station Commander Kevin Morgan, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters worked hard in hot, arduous conditions to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to any properties. “The fire was producing a significant amount of smoke, and we urged local residents to keep their windows and doors closed where possible. “We asked people to avoid the area, particularly around Palmerston Road, where crowds gathered. This helped firefighters and emergency services to work safely and efficiently.” Firefighters received more than 20 calls from 5.02pm and sent crews from Barking, Romford, East …
