A woman whose girlfriend left her “covered from head to toe in bruises and bite marks” wiped away tears as she told a court “she cannot do this to anyone else”. Marwa Saleem strangled and bit her partner and brutally smashed her head against a wall, leaving her with blood pouring from her mouth. Having been left “on the cliff edge of losing her liberty” as a result of the domestic violence, a judge instead told her as she was spared prison: “You could have no complaint whatsoever if I were to impose an immediate custodial sentence upon you. Do not make me regret it.” Liverpool Crown Court heard yesterday, Wednesday, that Saleem first contacted Shannon Ward via Snapchat in February 2025, with the two initially “getting on well” and ultimately entering a relationship. The 21-year-old then travelled from her home in Nottinghamshire to stay with her new partner at her home in Fazakerley on March 22 2025.
