Canada’s Prime Minister Doubles Down On Militant Anti-US Rhetoric

Canada’s Prime Minister Doubles Down On Militant Anti-US Rhetoric

Well before Mark Carney was elected as Canada’s Prime Minister in the wake of numerous scandals surrounding Justin Trudeau, critics noted that the candidate represented a far greater threat to Canada’s freedom largely because he is far more devious than Trudeau ever was.  Carney is a central banker and high level World Economic Forum globalist well acquainted with the liberal “Reset” agenda, and it is no mistake that he has taken control of Canada at a time when European elites are pushing for an economic and geopolitical separation from the US.  The plan is obvious – To isolate the US in an effort to stop the spread of conservative and nationalist movements throughout the west. In other words, the globalists/leftists are trying to build a new empire in a last-ditched scramble to prevent their liberal order from fading away.  Carney pretends as if they are breaking from the old system and starting something new by “calling out” the US.  In reality, it was the US that broke from the liberal system and refused to “go …

Matthew Brown More Than Doubles Los Angeles Space

Matthew Brown More Than Doubles Los Angeles Space

Dealer Matthew Brown is more than doubling his Los Angeles footprint with a move to a former warehouse at 1145 Seward Street in the Hollywood Media District. It’s just a mile or so from the two Hollywood spaces he has occupied since opening in 2019, at 712 N La Brea Avenue, but the design is worlds apart, he said in a phone conversation. “It’s night and day,” said Brown. “It’s the details, it’s the lighting, it’s the placement of the skylights, the way offices are built out, the way the viewing rooms are built out. When we built the first gallery, I just didn’t have the experience I have now.”  Related Articles The new facility is in the same neighborhood with a number of galleries, including Jeffrey Deitch, Karma, Lisson, Nonaka Hill, and Regen Projects. Brown went with a builder he has worked with before, tapping architect Markus Dochantschi of StudioMDA, who designed Brown’s New York gallery, at 390 Broadway in Tribeca. Brown’s gallery will be the first in Los Angeles for the architect, who …

The Download: murderous ‘mirror’ bacteria, and Chinese workers fighting AI doubles

The Download: murderous ‘mirror’ bacteria, and Chinese workers fighting AI doubles

These lab-created microbes would be organized like ordinary bacteria, but their proteins and sugars would be mirror images of those found in nature. Researchers believed they could reveal new insights into building cells, designing drugs, and even the origins of life. But now, many of them have reversed course. They’ve become convinced that mirror organisms could trigger a catastrophic event threatening every form of life on Earth. Find out why they’re ringing alarm bells. —Stephen Ornes This story is from the next issue of our print magazine, which is all about nature. Subscribe now to read it when it lands this Wednesday. Chinese tech workers are starting to train their AI doubles—and pushing back Earlier this month, a GitHub project called Colleague Skill struck a nerve by claiming to “distill” a worker’s skills and personality—and replicate them with an AI agent. Though the project was a spoof, it prompted a wave of soul-searching among otherwise enthusiastic early adopters. A number of tech workers told MIT Technology Review that their bosses are already encouraging them to …

Canva doubles down on AI and marketing automation with Simtheory, Ortto acquisitions

Canva announced on Wednesday the dual acquisition of Simtheory, an AI collaboration and agent management platform, and Ortto, a customer data and marketing automation company. The financial terms of the deals were not disclosed. Canva says the acquisitions are part of its continued investment in AI and marketing infrastructure.  Both companies were founded by Chris and Mike Sharkey, previously founders of vacation rental service Stayz, which was acquired by Fairfax Media. The pair will join Canva in leadership roles across the company’s AI and marketing technology teams. Canva says the acquisitions add strengths in agentic AI, data infrastructure, marketing automation, and customer engagement, helping Canva evolve from a design tool into a system where teams do all of their work from start to finish. The additions extend Canva’s capabilities across the full workflow, from early ideas to campaign scaling and measurement. Trump Doubles Down On Iran Wipeout Threat

Trump Doubles Down On Iran Wipeout Threat

Donald Trump has doubled down on his threat to take out Iran by claiming the entire country could be wiped out in one night. The US president claimed over the weekend that Tehran had until Tuesday 8pm ET (12am GMT) to open the major oil shipping lane, the Strait of Hormuz, or face total wipeout. In a post on TruthSocial on Tuesday, he said: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! “Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.” The country closed the waterway, which carries around a fifth of the world’s oil supply, in response to US-Israeli strikes five weeks ago – knocking the global economy in the process. While describing the US military’s “historic” mission to rescue two airmen from Iran during a press conference on Monday, the president interrupted himself to reissue his warning. “The entire country could be taken out in one night. And …

A year later, Trump doubles down on tariffs

A year later, Trump doubles down on tariffs

Thursday marked an important anniversary: It was one year since Donald Trump summoned the press corps to the White House Rose Garden — before its destruction — to declare “Liberation Day.” That afternoon in 2025, with his shellacked coif flapping against his bronzed forehead in the wind, the president held up hastily-assembled poster boards bearing the names of the world’s countries and territories.  Trump announced he was imposing “reciprocal” tariffs on all of them, even the ones with which the U.S. had a trade surplus — America’s trading partners, its adversaries, tiny countries that are basically subsistence economies and even small islands inhabited only by penguins which, to the best of anyone’s knowledge, are not involved in foreign trade. The tariffs were large and had no legitimate rationale, the numbers seemingly drawn at random. When asked for the formula that was used to determine how each country would be charged, the White House provided this: This “formula,” it was quickly discovered, actually just represented the trade deficit with each country. It didn’t capture trade in …

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie review – A joke-free sequel that doubles down on its own blandness

Get the latest entertainment news, reviews and star-studded interviews with our Independent Culture email Get the latest entertainment news with our free Culture newsletter Get the latest entertainment news with our free Culture newsletter The Super Mario Galaxy Movie might be the first film intentionally made so it can be divided into parts and uploaded to TikTok with the caption “prime mario aura farming [flame emoji]”. It certainly feels that way. If The Super Mario Bros Movie (2023) depersonalised the Nintendo games by casting a bored Chris Pratt as Mario the plumber and – mamma mia! – not asking him to even try the Italian accent, then The Super Mario Galaxy Movie doubles down on its own blandness. There’s barely a plot here. Not a single memorable character. Not even another piano ditty for Jack Black to sing. It’s a series of large, vaguely connected explosions that Mario, his bro Luigi (Charlie Day), and his love interest Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) can land in front of in a superhero pose. Is it OK to ask …
