After Olivia Rodrigo announced Friday that Daisy Chain Fields had raised $10 million for women-focused nonprofits, Melinda French Gates has doubled that number, totaling the donation to $20 million. Before her headlining set Saturday night, the “drop dead” singer took the stage to thank all of the musicians who took part in the festival. She began, “The fact that they took the time out of their insanely busy schedules to come and do this festival for free is something I’m so grateful for. Aug 28 : Manchester City’s Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland both struck twice as their side strolled to a 4-1 win away to Crystal Palace on Friday night to notch their second successive Premier League win.  Palace started brightly, but they went behind in the 17th minute when Haaland jumped to reach Antoine Semenyo’s cross and send a looping header beyond the despairing dive of Dean Henderson, for the Norwegian’s first goal of the new league campaign. In an end-to-end affair, City’s Phil Foden spooned the ball over the bar in the 21st minute and Eddie Nketiah wasted an excellent chance for the home side early in the second half before Cherki netted in the 54th minute, dancing through the defence before poking the ball home.  Palace pulled a goal back two minutes later when Yeremy Pino’s free kick came back off the crossbar and bounced off the back of City keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma before hitting the post and dropping into the net. Four years after a pseudo-retirement, Serena Williams is back in the U.S. Open for a shot at redemption. And this time, she’s teaming up with her older sister, Venus. The Williams sisters got a wild card Wednesday and will play doubles together next week, the U.S. Tennis Association announced. Aug 12 : Goldman Sachs will acquire exchange-traded funds provider Neos Investments for as much as $2.25 billion, as the investment bank looks to bolster its presence in active asset management. Neos manages $30 billion in assets across 19 ETFs that cover a suite of index products, while using options to generate additional income and cap downside risk. Demand for such products has surged of late, as institutions look to hedge portfolios with investments that help cushion drawdown risk and provide recurring income in a volatile market environment. Goldman has pursued acquisitions in the actively managed ETF space to strengthen its asset management unit and capitalize on the growing demand.
