Kia aims to sell 250,000 electric vans by 2030, with the PV7 and PV9 accounting for a larger share combined than the PV5. Kia bets on bigger electric vans to drive growth “The real game begins now,” Kia president and CEO Ho-Sung Song said after unveiling the PV7 for the first time at IAA Transportation on Monday. The PV7 is the second electric van from Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) series, following the PV5. Song told reporters at the event (via Yonhap News) that “We are in negotiations with more than 300 companies” and is working to secure fleet contracts ahead of launch. Including the PV5, Kia has “about 4,000 units on standby and more than 17,000 units under negotiation,” Song said. Royal Enfield’s new Flying Flea electric motorcycle has officially spread its wings beyond India, with the retro-inspired C6 now launching in Europe and the UK. And perhaps just as importantly, we finally know what Western riders can expect to pay for it. The Flying Flea C6 is opening for bookings at €5,990 across Europe and £5,300 in the UK, with deliveries expected to begin in October. The initial European rollout includes Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Berlin, and London, according to local Indian sources. That’s a fairly significant milestone for Flying Flea, Royal Enfield’s new all-electric sub-brand. We’ve been following the C6 since it was first unveiled, but one of the lingering questions has been when the bike would actually start making its way into major export markets – and what it would cost once it got there. The Starship 3.0 concept truck has been busy of late, testing a battery pack that uses an immersion-cooling system to manage battery heat, improve range performance, and enhance the durability of electric semi truck batteries. Co-developed by Chinese truck brand FAW and Shell oil’s chemical division, the new battery pack surrounds the truck’s battery cells in an electrically insulating immersion cooling fluid, enabling more effective heat management than conventional EV battery cooling. Electric farm tractors are a great idea that hasn’t quite found a way to succeed in the market, but Ohio-based GoSun thinks the time is right to try again – this time with integrated solar charging technology that could give its all-electric tractor a serious advantage over the diesel-powered competition. Co-developed with Indian tractor brand Moonrider, the descriptively named Moonrider 27 All-Electric Solar Tractor from GoSun features a 20 kW (~27 hp) electric motor that sends torque to all four wheels for maximum traction and pulling power on any kind of terrain. Low-intensity induced electric fields slowed tumor growth and reduced lung metastases in a mouse model of triple-negative breast cancer, while healthy mice showed no major adverse effects during 30 days of exposure. The treatment also altered the tumor immune environment, increasing signs of cancer-fighting immune activity while reducing several signals associated with immune suppression and tumor invasion. Researchers envision delivering the fields with an external wearable device, but the results remain preclinical. Human trials are needed to determine safety, dosing and whether the approach can improve cancer outcomes. A gentle electric field may one day help fight one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer. New research from The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute shows that low-intensity electric fields reduced tumor growth and spread in preclinical models of triple-negative breast cancer. A new fleet of British-designed and built battery electric trains has been announced, promising thousands of new jobs, faster and more reliable rail service, and significant reductions in carbon emissions across northern England. Often the butt of jokes for its frequent delays and confusing ticketing practices, the British rail system is set to receive a significant upgrade thanks to a broader series of transit contracts totaling more than €1.2 billion.
