Aston Villa v Bologna Europa League TV channel, live stream, kick-off time

Aston Villa are back at Villa Park on Thursday to finish the job in the deciding leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Bologna. Unai Emery’s side won the first leg 3-1 in Italy last week to seize control of the tie and take a step toward the semi-finals of Europe’s secondary club competition. Emery, a four-time winner of the Europa League, will know his side cannot afford to take anything for granted despite their advantage. Bologna scored four goals in the second leg away at Roma to make it through the last 16 and bounced back from last Thursday’s defeat by beating Lecce on the weekend. The visitors have to go for it at Villa Park, which should make for an end-to-end encounter. Porto v Nottingham Forest Europa League TV channel, live stream, kick-off time

Nottingham Forest travel to Estádio do Dragão on Thursday, aiming to become just the second team to beat Porto at home this season. The Reds have been drawn against the Liga Portugal leaders in the quarter-finals of the Europa League after beating Midtjylland on penalties. Nuno Espírito Santo’s side will head into the first leg with plenty of confidence, having beaten Porto in the League Phase in October, but with a lengthy list of missing players, including star midfielder Elliot Anderson. The Portuguese side have not lost a Europa League game since they came unstuck at the City Ground and made light work of Stuttgart in the last round, winning 4-1 on aggregate. Francesco Farioli’s team have been particularly impressive at home, where they’ve won all five of their European games – scoring 12 goals and conceding just three. Notts Forest relish break from relegation fight after shoot-out win to reach Europa quarter-finals

Notts Forest relish break from relegation fight after shoot-out win to reach Europa quarter-finals

It is a shame for Nottingham Forest supporters that they have not been able to fully enjoy the possibilities of a first European campaign in a generation because of an ongoing fight against relegation. Forest will need to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Danish club Midtjylland and reach the Europa League quarter-finals, but a pivotal domestic fixture at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday looms. Forest are above West Ham United and the relegation zone on goal difference, and one point behind Spurs. Vitor Pereira, appointed as Forest’s head coach following Sean Dyche’s departure, played down the possibility of wholesale changes. He said: “We are in a moment where we need to be united. I cannot have players for one game and other players for another game. “They worked a lot to be here [in the Europa League]. We need them for tomorrow. We need to see the team united and everyone in condition to help. “We don’t have a big squad. It means it is important we feel we are together in this game, trying to …

The Europa League has become Forest’s unwanted distraction after Midtjylland take control

The Europa League has become Forest’s unwanted distraction after Midtjylland take control

The Europa and Conference Leagues have reached the last-16 stage and we will be focused on two English clubs in action tonight. At the City Ground, Nottingham Forest host Midtjylland. When these teams met on this ground during the league phase, Midtjylland won 3-2 over Ange Postecoglou’s Forest in early October. Fast forward a couple of managers later and Forest head into this last-16 tie with Vitor Pereira at the helm. Forest are only outside of the relegation zone on goal difference but Pereira is not writing off Europe to solely focus on Premier League survival. “For now, we try to be competitive in both, in the Europe League and try to get points and results in our league,” Pereira said. “I need to try to balance, but to be competitive in the next game and afterwards against Fulham. It is important for the players to be ready to help the team, we need to be ready to challenge and perform. We have quality in the squad, they are working hard, with good energy, trying …

Stuttgart v Celtic Europa League TV channel, live stream, kick-off time

Celtic have a mountain to climb in the second leg of their Europa League play-off round tie against Stuttgart on Thursday. The Hoops were hammered 4-1 by the Bundesliga side at Celtic Park last week to leave their hopes of reaching the last 16 hanging by a thread. Martin O’Neill must rally the troops for the trip to Germany after things went from bad to worse for his side on the weekend, with defeat at Hibs denting their Scottish Premiership title hopes. The visitors can take some hope from Stuttgart’s 3-3 draw with Bundesliga bottom-club Heidenheim on the weekend but the numbers are against them. Stuttgart have an unblemished home record in Europe this season, while Celtic have won just one of their last 17 away games in continental competition. ‘Four Minus Three’ Wins Berlin’s Europa Cinemas Prize

‘Four Minus Three’ Wins Berlin’s Europa Cinemas Prize

Austrian director Adrian Goiginger’s film Four Minus Three, the true story of a professional clown struck by tragedy, has won the Europa Cinemas Label as best European film in the Panorama section of the Berlinale. The film, based on Barbara Pachl-Eberhart’s autobiographical novel, follows Barbara (A Hidden Life actress Valerie Pachner), a professional clown who lives with her partner Heli (Robert Stadlober), also a clown, and their two children. When Heli and the children die in a car accident, Barbara’s belief in humor, hope and humanity is put to the ultimate test. The Europa Cinemas jury said the film “succeeds in giving us a very moving and inspiring experience … the excellent script manages to evoke a sense of hope while not hiding away from the despair of loss.” Four Minus Three will now benefit from promotional support from the Europa Cinemas group, which operates, with its partners, more than 3,200 screens across 39 European countries. The group, backed by funding from Europe’s MEDIA program and France’s national film board, the CNC, is the first …
