With the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, Apple is adding Live Rewind, which relies on an S11 processor and new continual listening features. Live Rewind listens to what’s happening around the wearer, and when activated with a double press on the Digital Crown, offers a transcript of what was said in the last 15 seconds. Apple says the feature will let users catch something they missed or are less familiar with. Snippets can be referred to Siri for further evaluation or saved to the ‌Siri‌ app. Apple users are already expressing privacy concerns about Live Rewind, and likening it to Meta’s much-maligned smart glasses, but no Apple Watch user will be able to activate it surreptitiously. After today’s iPhone event, Apple invited members of the media to test out the new iPhone Duo. We were able to take a look, and we have some initial thoughts to share. The iPhone Duo is priced starting at $1,999, and it feels like it. This is a premium device that’s thin, but feels sturdy. The outer display is 5.4 inches, so it’s smaller than the iPhone 18 Pro when it’s closed, but the inner display is 7.6 inches. Apple used a nano-texture polymer for the inside display, and the material cuts glare but also reduces the visibility of the crease. The display layer has a micro lens texture written pixel by pixel using maskless laser lithography for a perceptually flat, matte surface. It does indeed minimize the look and feel of the fold in the middle of the iPhone Duo. You can still see the crease and it’s visible in certain lighting, but Apple did a better job than Samsung at hiding it. Of course, foldable creases can become more visible as a device …

Apple is adding a new iPhone Handoff feature in iOS 27 that will let you use the same number on two iPhones and swap between them as needed. iPhone Handoff requires carrier support, and Apple says there may be carrier fees when setting it up. The new iPhone Handoff option was mentioned at today’s event and in the iPhone Duo press release, and it turns out it’s going to be limited at launch. Apple says it will only be available on T-Mobile in the U.S. and Deutsche Telekom in Germany when ‌iOS 27‌ comes out. Apple’s ‘Surprise and Shine’ iPhone Event: Follow along with our live blog. Apple today introduced two dedicated accessories for iPhone Duo, its Case and a Folio with Kickstand. The iPhone Duo Case is a thin, two-part design that wraps around both the front and back of the device. It uses built-in magnets that align with th iPhone Duo for what Apple calls a “magical attach experience.” The case is made from polycarbonate with a matte coating and comes in Sand and Navy Blue. The iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand takes a different approach, using TechWoven, Apple’s custom technical fabric, and covering only the back of the device rather than wrapping the edges. It includes an integrated kickstand that snaps flush against the case when not in use and props up at a range of angles for reading, watching video, or FaceTime calls. A perfect storm of sliding demand, shrinking vineyard acreage, and weather-damaged yields has sent France’s Champagne output forecast for this year plunging. Bloomberg cites new data from the Agriculture Ministry showing that Champagne output is projected to plunge 48% from 2025 to 1.34 million hectoliters. The estimate is based on the latest figures through Sept. 1. The ministry also said that nationwide wine production is expected to fall 6% to 34 million hectoliters, putting the harvest 17% below its five-year average and among the smallest in three decades. For French winemakers, the squeeze is coming from many directions: declining wine demand and adverse weather conditions have sent wine and spirits exports into a downward trend. Following some recent speculation that Apple could release its foldable phone under the “iPhone Duo” name, it appears that will indeed be the case, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. For months now, the foldable iPhone has generally been referred to as the “iPhone Ultra,” even internally, but Apple is apparently going in a different direction for the official name, emphasizing the dual-screen nature of the device. Gurman says the iPhone Duo will start at $2,000 for 256 GB of storage and max out at around $3,000. Rumors had suggested the phone would likely start at above $2,000, perhaps as high as $2,500, so a $2,000 entry-level price could help bolster customer demand. The entry-level version will include 256 gigabytes of storage, with Apple offering higher-capacity versions that will take the price all the way up to roughly $3,000. Apple blew through its cost goals due to the recent memory shortage, so it’s eating some of the expense to keep within reach of $2,000.
