Finneas on Making Score for Netflix’s ‘Beef’ Season 2

Finneas on Making Score for Netflix’s ‘Beef’ Season 2

In a word, the score for the long-awaited second season of Netflix’s chaotic comedy-drama Beef is inescapable. From the opening moments of episode one, the music is the first thing viewers hear — the dominant sound ushering in the show’s establishing shots and dialogue for the next 10 minutes of the series before it finally reaches a notable halt.  “It wasn’t until I was on the mixing stage for episode one, which was pretty near the end of the whole process of scoring the show, that I realized it,” says mononymous singer-songwriter Finneas. “We were watching episode one, and I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ There’s so much music in this series, and it’s used so prominently. Sometimes a score really is a background character.”  Like any good character, Finneas’ score contains multitudes. The 10-minute track, “Cold Open,” weaves between tranquility and the anxiousness of being on pins and needles, while “Music for Hospitals” is a bit more sinister and winding, like spelunking in a dark cave. “Vicious Thoughts,” by contrast, is pretty — and …

Finneas O’Connell to Score ‘Beef’ Season 2

Finneas O’Connell to Score ‘Beef’ Season 2

Finneas O’Connell will score season two of Netflix‘s Beef, the streamer and the anthology series’ studio A24 jointly announced on Thursday. “Spent the last 12 months in Beef land. All eight episodes out April 16, All Original music by me,” O’Connell said in a statement. “Very grateful to Sonny for involving me, very grateful for the incredible performances from the entire cast; I probably watched every scene 100 times while I scored the show and I felt it every time. True fan of this show, very honored and proud to be a part of it.” O’Connell is, of course, a very accomplished singer, songwriter, producer and composer, with two Oscars and 11 Grammy Awards already under his belt. To Billie Eilish, he is also big brother (and a regular collaborator). “Finneas is the brilliant mind behind most of the music that has soundtracked my personal life over the last decade, so it’s an absolute honor to collaborate with him on the new season,” Beef creator and showrunner Lee Sung Jin added. “He has an incredible …

Finneas Slams Critics Of Sister Billie Eilish’s Grammy Awards Speech

Billie Eilish’s brother and musical collaborator Finneas is sticking up for the Birds Of A Feather singer after her acceptance speech at this year’s Grammy Awards sparked the ire of conservative critics. On Sunday night, the brother-and-sister duo were awarded Song Of The Year at the 2026 Grammys for their hit Wildflower. While accepting the accolade, Billie was one of several musicians during this year’s awards show to speak out against the current political administration, and in particular the recent actions of ICE officers. “I feel so honoured every time I get to be in this room,” Billie told the audience. “And as grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land. “And it’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I just feel really hopeful in this room and I feel like we need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting. Our voices really do matter and the people matter – …

Finneas Slams ‘Old White Men’ Who Hated Billie Eilish’s Grammys Speech

Finneas Slams ‘Old White Men’ Who Hated Billie Eilish’s Grammys Speech

Finneas O’Connell is coming to his sister Billie Eilish‘s defense. The Grammy winner took to Threads on Wednesday to clap back at haters who criticized the “Wildflower” singer’s Grammys acceptance speech, which saw her slam ICE. “Seeing a lot of very powerful old white men outraged about what my 24 year old sister said during her acceptance speech,” O’Connell wrote. “We can literally see your names in the Epstein files.” After winning the award for song of the year for “Wildflower,” Eilish used her time on stage to speak out against the Trump administration’s intense and controversial immigration enforcement. She and O’Connell also wore “ICE OUT” pins on their outfits. “I feel so honored every time I get to be in this room,” she said in part. “And, as grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything, but that no one is illegal on stolen land. … It’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I feel really hopeful in this room.” …
