A popular national footwear brand recently published a collaborative Instagram post with a fraternity, despite two former members being recently accused of disseminating nonconsensual intimate images of a fellow college student. On September 25, HEYDUDE, a viral shoe brand that was acquired by Crocs in 2022, posted a photo on its Instagram account promoting shoes that appeared to be UF versions of the brand’s popular “Wally” loafer, a lightweight slip-on sneaker with a foam insert. “@heydude called, @thetachiflorida answered,” the caption read, alongside photos of Theta Chi members clowning around and wearing orange-and-blue sneakers. The brand also posted a video on its TikTok account outside of the Florida fraternity house with the caption “wtf is any shoe besides a HEYDUDE?” The post led to backlash in the comments section, with many questioning why the brand would choose to work with the fraternity. “#CancelHeyDude,” one person wrote. Another chimed in: “I would boycott if I wore fucking ugly shoes but I don’t so I can’t.” As WIRED previously reported, two former members of the UF chapter …

Don Johnson enjoyed some father-son time with his youngest child, Deacon, during a visit to his fraternity house at the University of Southern California. The Miami Vice actor, 76, smiled as he sat beside the 20-year-old on a sofa, with Deacon wrapping an arm around his famous father for the photograph. Don’s wife, Kelley Phleger, shared the family moment alongside a caption that suggested she was taking the college visit in her stride. “Parent visit to the Frat House! Hide the evidence,” she joked. © InstagramDon with his youngest son Deacon A visit to Deacon’s college The photograph offered a glimpse of Deacon’s university life, two years after his parents helped him settle into USC. Don and Kelley dropped their youngest son off at the university in 2024. Wisconsin frat leaders arrested after 30 pledges found in filthy basement, injured and covered in condiments

Two leaders of an underground University of Wisconsin-Madison fraternity were arrested and charged with hazing after dozens of pledges were found injured, shirtless and covered in condiments in a sweltering basement. The Madison Police Department said Thursday it received an anonymous tip about an event in the basement of an off-campus chapter house. Alpha Epsilon Pi was kicked off campus as a recognized chapter in 2015, but the organization maintained a presence at the Madison home. Police say about 30 pledges, most of whom were 18, were found partially-clothed in a filthy basement around 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday. The apparent hazing victims were “covered in food, condiments, and other liquids” and “had visible injuries consistent with being physically assaulted.” The thermostat was set to 81 degrees, making the basement hot and humid, police said. Brayden Klein and Samuel Vane, both 20, were charged with hazing and disorderly conduct. Madison police are still investigating the matter.
