Paramount to Buy ‘The Midnight Sun’ With Florence Pugh, Garth Davis

Paramount is closing in on acquiring hot Cannes film market titles The Midnight Sun, to be directed by Garth Davis and to star Florence Pugh, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. Paramount is paying more than $30 million for the rights to the film. StudioCanal, which is backing the feature project, will distribute the film in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Benelux, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, with Paramount distributing in the rest of the world. The adaptation of the book by Matt Haig is likely the biggest deal out of the Cannes film market. The story centers on Nora Seed, who finds herself in a magical library between life and death, filled with books that offer her to see the many outcomes of lives not lived. Pugh is slated to play Seed. The Midnight Sun won’t be Davis and Pugh’s first collaboration, as the two worked together on the upcoming limited Netflix series East of Eden. Jennie Garth got candid about how her 2012 divorce from Twilight star Peter Facinelli left a devastating impact on her mental health and led to substance abuse issues. The 54-year-old shared with People that she was forced to have her stomach pumped after self-medicating with alcohol and pills one night following her divorce, which led to a stint at the Canyon Ranch rehab center.   “I spent a good amount of years being hurt, sad, just tormented by it, and it eked out into all aspects of my life,” Jennie said of her split from Peter.  “I noticed my light really dimming. Longtime Chelsea Gallery Garth Greenan to Relocate Downtown This Fall

Initially, Garth Greenan didn’t realize that the lease for his current space on West 20th Street in Chelsea would expire on the eve of his eponymous gallery’s 15th anniversary. But once he did, he took it as a sign to start a new chapter for the business. In September, Garth Greenan Gallery will relocate to SoHo and open in two spaces across the street from each other, at 10 Greene Street and 25 Greene Street. The gallery’s solo exhibition for Esteban Cabeza de Baca, which closed on February 27, was its last in Chelsea. Nancy Seltzer, the Hollywood publicist who formerly represented Garth Brooks and the late Sean Connery, has died. She was 79. Seltzer died Thursday in Los Angeles. A cause of death was not given, though an announcement on Brooks’ website noted that she died following a brief hospital stay. “Public relations is the hardest job in show business,” Brooks shared in a statement. “She always handled every situation with the utmost class.” Seltzer served as the longtime representative for “The Dance” singer and Oscar winner, alongside author Danielle Steel, opera singer Joyce DiDonato and Spanish opera singer Placido Domingo. She represented a myriad of talent throughout her career, also including Whitney Houston, Julia Roberts, Bette Davis, Nicole Kidman, Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Ian McShane, Stana Katic, Annette Bening, Kathy Bates and Tom Wilkinson. She ran the boutique publicity firm Nancy Seltzer & Associates, with offices on the East and West coast.
