The 2026 edition took place June 4-7, and featured plenty of six-figure sticker shock and sci-fi designs. But beyond the design-forward statement pieces is some actually approachable gear, as well. We’ve sifted through dozens of press releases to identify where smarter systems are headed and to celebrate old-school hi-fi brands making their heritage feel fresh, presenting all of it as a gallery of beautiful excess. How high-end credit card perks are hurting shoppers who pay in cash

How high-end credit card perks are hurting shoppers who pay in cash

The total credit and debit card fees paid by merchants to card processors, led by Visa and Mastercard, have increased 70% since 2019 to $198 billion in 2025, according to data from the Nilson Report. The rise has been fueled by an overall increase in consumer spending, a shrinking number of people using cash and an uptick in fees charged by credit card companies that largely go toward funding rewards programs. The National Retail Federation, an industry organization pushing for legislation to reduce swipe fees, estimates those fees add more than $1,200 a year in higher prices for the average household. The pain from those costs isn’t being felt equally. For customers paying with credit cards that offer rewards, those higher prices are offset by the perks they get from their card, like cash back, points that can be redeemed for flights or access to airline lounges. But for those paying with cash or a debit or a credit card that doesn’t come with any perks, there is no reprieve: They are bearing the brunt …

Drizzle on top: a new high-end dog food brand is coming for the 1%

Drizzle on top: a new high-end dog food brand is coming for the 1%

The pet food aisle has never been more crowded, which is exactly why Hillary Coles says she was skeptical when Atomic Labs came calling. “I had the same reaction you did,” Coles told me on a call Monday afternoon, a day before her new company, Golden Child, opened for business. “Surely that can’t be what people need.” Coles co-founded Hims & Hers with Andrew Dudum, Jack Abraham, and Joe Spector back in 2016 and spent seven years there overseeing brand, physical products, and consumer strategy before taking a year and a half off to have her children. She describes herself as “a consumer person first” who happened to land in healthcare. Dog food wasn’t “on the bingo card,” as she put it. The pitch that won her over was rooted less in dog food specifically than in a methodology. Atomic, the startup studio founded by Abraham, runs what it calls “painted door tests” — lightweight experiments designed to reveal what consumers will actually do, not just what they say they want. When Atomic ran those …

Beatbot Sora 30 Review: Midrange Price, High-End Results

Beatbot Sora 30 Review: Midrange Price, High-End Results

Charging is done via the same type of power adapter that the Sora 70 uses: a proprietary, blocklike connector that slides into a hatch on the rear of the device. A hinged port cover opens automatically when you slide the adapter into it and snaps shut when it’s removed. It’s not as convenient as a plugless charging dock, but it’s close, obviating the need for screw-on port covers or other waterproofing systems that have to be manually manipulated. ScreenshotBeatbot app via Chris Null In the water, the unit offers a scant three operational modes—floor mode, standard mode (which handles floor, wall, and waterline), and eco mode (which runs a floor-only cleaning for 45 minutes every 48 hours). Both floor and standard mode offer three running-time options: two hours, three hours, or max (i.e., run until the battery’s almost dead). These can all be selected through the Beatbot app, which is available via Bluetooth or either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. You’ll also need to set up Wi-Fi for firmware updates. A Capable Cleaner I …

The Star Trek Communicator Is Now a High-End Wristwatch

The Star Trek Communicator Is Now a High-End Wristwatch

After the damp squib that was Rolex’s anniversary celebration at this year’s Watches and Wonders in Geneva (maybe Rolex will bring back the Milgauss in 2027?), we started to worry that truly WIRED timepieces would be few and far between this year. Then we found the Retrovision ’64 by Hautlence. Clearly channeling none other than Captain Kirk, the high-end Swiss brand has turned Star Trek’s iconic Communicator into a full-on luxury wristwatch—and we’re very much here for it. Fans of the ’60s sci-fi series will be delighted to recognize the characteristic cover and perforated grille, which, oh yes, flips up to reveal the watch workings underneath. However, despite the light-hearted design cues, those workings very much lean into serious horology. The Retrovision ’64 is a high-end wristwatch masquerading as a Star Trek communicator. Inside the retro-futuristic case beats an in-house caliber equipped with a linear jumping hour mechanism developed in collaboration with Geneva-based artisan …

4 New High-End Watches Serious Collectors Are Circling Right Now

4 New High-End Watches Serious Collectors Are Circling Right Now

Welcome to Watch Guy Watches, GQ’s monthly curation of high-end timepieces for the true watch nerds among us. This month, we examine the second design from Fleming, a subtly tweaked Breguet Tradition, a Parmigiani with a lovely rose-colored dial, and one of the coolest Richard Milles we’ve ever laid eyes upon. Fleming crashed onto the scene in 2024 and immediately found a fan base (and ample clients) for its brand-new $50,000-plus watch. The brand and its debut watch, the Series 1, were the brainchild of American collector Thomas Fleming and James Kong, a watch photographer and ex–corporate attorney. The watch’s compact proportions, attractive lugs, precious metal cases, beautiful dial designs, and compelling double-barrel movement instantly won over watch nerds—no small feat! Now, Fleming is revisiting the Series one with a “Mark II” version in which much of the watch—from the case geometry to the movement to the dials—has been reconsidered and tweaked. Two options are available: a rose gold model called “Redwood” fitted with a matching rose gold dial, and a tantalum version called “Pacific” …

Art Market Reaches .6 Billion in 2025 as High-End Sales Drive Recovery

Art Market Reaches $59.6 Billion in 2025 as High-End Sales Drive Recovery

The global art market clawed its way back to modest growth in 2025, reaching an estimated $59.6 billion in sales, according to the latest Art Basel and UBS Art Market Report, by economist Clare McAndrew of Arts Economics. The total represents a 4 percent increase from the previous year, breaking a two-year slide in sales—though the market still sits below its 2022 peak. The recovery, however, came with an asterisk. While auctions bounced back strongly, galleries barely budged, and much of the market’s growth came from a small number of very expensive works. Related Articles Public auction sales rose 9 percent, helping lift the overall market. Dealer sales grew just 2 percent, reaching $34.8 billion globally. Private sales at auction houses, meanwhile, fell 5 percent, reversing the previous year’s trend, when collectors had increasingly opted for discreet deals behind closed doors. The number of transactions barely changed. Sales rose only 2 percent, to roughly 41.5 million, suggesting that the market’s growth had less to do with a surge in activity than with higher prices for a relatively small number of big-ticket works. As in previous …
