Inside Filipino Girl Group BINI’s Historic Coachella Debut

Inside Filipino Girl Group BINI’s Historic Coachella Debut

It’s a blistering 89 degrees in Indio, California, and the eight members of girl group BINI are packed inside a small trailer. With their team surrounding them, some carrying the flag of the Philippines, the young women are abuzz with nervous excitement. Electropop singer Slayyyter can be heard faintly through the not-so-soundproof walls of the trailer. Outside, a group of longtime fans and curious music lovers at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival await the moment the group takes the Mojave stage. BINI, sporting intricately beaded blue-turquoise ensembles, begins putting warrior-like gold dresses on top of their outfits thanks to the help of their backup dancers, a group of seven men who traveled with the girl group from the Philippines. For a moment, the chaos is put on hold as they begin a group prayer. “That’s the first time we’ve done something like that, where [our performance director] asked us to repeat after him,” BINI member Aiah, 25, tells me that night, hours after their performance is done. Aiah and the rest of BINI …

Trump's Claim Of Historic Peace Talks Between Israel And Lebanon Causes Confusion

Trump's Claim Of Historic Peace Talks Between Israel And Lebanon Causes Confusion

President Donald Trump waves to reporters as he walks on the South Lawn upon his arrival at the White House, Sunday, April 12, 2026, in Washington. Donald Trump’s surprise claim that historic peace talks between Israel and Lebanon will soon be taking place is causing some bewilderment. Ambassadors from the two warring countries held direct talks on Tuesday in Washington – their first in decades – and agreed to launch direct negotiations at a mutually agreed-upon time and place. But there was a lack of clarity about just when these next discussions might happen. However, the US president wrote on TruthSocial overnight: “Trying to get a little breathing room between Israel and Lebanon. It has been a long time since the two leaders have spoken, like 34 years. It will happen tomorrow. Nice!” He did not elaborate or offer any further detail on who might be present. Officials in Beirut then told several media outlets they are unaware of any contact or meetings arranged with their Israeli counterparts. AFP news agency reported an official source …

Secondary teacher job adverts hit a historic low – report

Secondary teacher job adverts hit a historic low – report

The teacher labour market has “contracted”, with the number of secondary school job adverts down by around a third compared to last year, a new report suggests. The latest annual recruitment and retention report from Teacher Tapp and SchoolDash shows secondary teacher vacancies have hit the lowest level in the nine-year period data is available. The study, which draws on job advert monitoring as well as daily polls of a pool of more than 10,000 teachers, shows secondary school teacher job adverts are down 32 per cent compared to last year, and 46 per cent on 2018-19. ‘Contraction’ in secondary labour market The report suggests schools are anticipating falling pupils rolls, while a weak wider labour market appears to be suppressing teacher turnover. Teacher Tapp co-founder Becky Allen said: “Schools know their intakes are shrinking, so they’re not replacing staff who leave, and with fewer opportunities elsewhere, fewer teachers are leaving in the first place. “The result is that staffing problems have gone underground: fewer advertised vacancies, but more classes covered by non-specialists and more teachers …

Israel & Hezbollah trade fire a day after historic talks in Washington

Israel & Hezbollah trade fire a day after historic talks in Washington

Israeli strikes rocked southern Lebanon overnight and into Wednesday, a day after a first round of historic talks between Lebanese and Israeli officials in Washington. Smoke rose over the coastal city of Tyre, underscoring the fragility of diplomatic efforts. Though Israeli strikes in Beirut have eased since last week’s shattering 10-minute bombardment without warning that killed over 350 people across the country, areas in southern Lebanon remain under frequent attack. Ambassadors meet for historic talks in US amid deeply fraught Lebanon-Israel tensions

Eve Irvine is pleased to welcome Simon Mabon, Professor of International Politics and Director of the Richardson Institute for Peace Studies at Lancaster University. He sees the current conflict between Lebanon and Israel as one defined more by layered, overlapping sovereignties. The talks between Israeli and Lebanese officials are, on the surface, historically significant. Yet they risk being misunderstood if treated as conventional diplomacy. The central issue is that Israel is not confronting the Lebanese state, but rather Hezbollah, a hybrid political and militant group. Keywords for this article Source link
