For the last few weeks, it’s been heavily rumoured that former X Factor star Cheryl Tweedy will be staging a return to our screens as a new coach on The Voice UK. According to The Sun, Cheryl will be taking over the seat previously occupied by Sir Tom Jones, while former I’m A Celebrity star and rapper Aitch will replace McFly stars Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher, who are also leaving. Fans of Sir Tom needn’t worry, though, as the legendary crooner is expected to remain with the show, albeit in a new role created just for him. A Texas appeals court dramatically reduced the amount conspiracy theorist Alex Jones owes the parents of a 6-year-old boy killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, cutting a nearly $50 million judgment to about $5.6 million. The ruling Friday upheld $4.1 million in compensatory damages awarded to Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, whose son Jesse Lewis was among the 20 first graders and six educators murdered at the Connecticut school in 2012. But the court reduced the $45.2 million in punitive damages awarded by a jury to $1.5 million, citing limits under Texas law. Jones spent years falsely claiming the Sandy Hook massacre was staged and that the grieving families were actors participating in a government plot to restrict gun rights. The parents testified that Jones’ lies resulted in years of harassment and threats from his followers. The Texas case is only one part of the massive financial judgments against Jones stemming from his Sandy Hook lies. Authored via Stacy Robinson via The Epoch Times, A Texas appeals court on Aug. 21 drastically reduced a judgment owed by Infowars host Alex Jones, shrinking the amount from $50 million to around $6 million, over his commentary falsely calling the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut a hoax. Jones and his company, Free Speech Systems LLC, appealed the multimillion-dollar settlement after a jury in 2022 found him liable for “defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress” after the shooting in which 20 children and 6 faculty were killed. The Texas Court of Appeals for the Third District denied many points of Jones’ appeal, and did not reverse a previous $4.2 million judgment for one of the plaintiffs. But it did side with his argument that Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, whose 6-year-old son, Jesse, died in the attack, should not have been allowed to alter their lawsuit after the jury verdict in order to seek more damages. The BBC on Monday released a new action-packed trailer for the third season of hit drama Vigil and unveiled that the show, starring Suranna Jones and Rose Leslie, will launch on BBC iPlayer and BBC One starting on Sunday, Aug. 30. The six-part season, made by World Productions (Line of Duty, Until I Kill You, Showtrial), part of ITV Studios, was filmed in Svalbard, Norway and Scotland.
