A knifeman remains at large after police said a man in his 60s was approached from behind and stabbed on a public golf course footpath. Police rushed to Stafford Castle golf course on Newport Road, Staffordshire, just before 7pm on Thursday, May 14 after the victim was found on a bench by a member of the public who raised the alarm. He had been walking in the Castlefields area from Redgrave Drive towards Stafford Castle when the horrific incident occurred. The man remains in critical condition in hospital, and specialist officers are continuing to support him and his family. Staffordshire Police described the suspect as a man in his mid-to-late 20s, possibly of Eastern European background, with an average build and dressed in dark clothing.
