Best 2-in-1 Laptops (2026): Microsoft, Lenovo, and the iPad

There will always be a use case for owning both a laptop and a tablet as stand-alone products. But the 2-in-1 laptop is the utopian dream of combining these two into a single device. Of all the models I’ve tested, no 2-in-1 laptop is equally good at being both a tablet and a laptop. They always lean toward one or the other. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy one, especially since the convenience of having both in one device makes it an easier pill to swallow, price-wise. The products below should meet most people’s needs. But if none are a fit for you, check out our other computer buying guides, including the Best Cheap Laptops, the Best Tablets, and the Best iPad. It’s been a while since I last reviewed a laptop, and I’m jumping back on the horse with the new Lenovo Yoga 7a 2-in-1, a solid midrange laptop that handles daily office workloads without much friction. It features the flexible hinge devices this model is known for, which let the PC switch between laptop, tablet, and tent modes. Its versatility offers users a range of ways to work and consume media. Also: I used an M.2 PCIe enclosure for data storage, and it made file transfers so much faster At first, I had a great time, but as time went on, its shortcomings became harder to ignore. While it performs well for a midrange laptop, the Yoga 7a doesn’t feel like a product that belongs in 2026. Instead, it feels like a 2024 laptop — decent, but nothing mindblowing. The best Lenovo laptops of 2026: Expert tested and reviewed

As the competition to produce top-tier laptops at increasingly competitive price points intensifies, different brands have leveraged their reputations and specialized offerings to differentiate themselves. We’ve tested machines from all the top brands and can say with confidence that certain brands excel in specific areas. So, where does Lenovo stand? Let’s take a look. Lenovo versus Dell  Lenovo is known for its utilitarian, durable design philosophy, particularly with its iconic ThinkPad line of laptops. They’re robust, versatile, and have a reputation for being workhorses, especially in the office. By contrast, Dell is known for some rather innovative designs. The Dell Premium 16, for example, is a powerful laptop, but visually daring with its flush keyboard, InfinityEdge display, and invisible trackpad. Also: Everything Lenovo announced at MWC 2026, including foldables and modular laptops Many Lenovo laptops are designed for the enterprise and, as such, exude a conservative, business-esque aura. Dell laptops, on the other hand, are versatile and marketed toward a broad range of consumers, from creators to businesses to home users.  Lenovo versus Apple When …

Everything Lenovo announced at MWC 2026, including foldables and modular laptops

I’m a big gamer, so I’m always looking for new ways to enjoy my favorite hobby. It’s for that reason that the Legion Go Fold Concept immediately caught my attention. It builds on the Legion Go, but introduces a foldable POLED touchscreen that expands from 7.7 inches to 11.6 inches. It aims to deliver something close to a whole at-home gaming rig in a portable form factor. Just like the Legion Go, the side controllers are detachable, and you can use the right-side peripheral as a computer mouse. Also: Is Lenovo’s new SteamOS handheld worth the hype? I tested it, here’s my verdict The handheld supports multiple usage modes, such as Vertical Split Screen, which lets you game on one half of the display while playing a walkthrough on the other. There’s also Expanded Desktop Mode. This enables you to pair a wireless keyboard so you can browse and even get some light work done. Under the hood, the Lenovo Go Fold runs on an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor with up to 32GB …

Lenovo’s Latest Wacky Concepts Include a Laptop With a Built-in Portable Monitor

Do you like having a second screen with your computer setup? What if your laptop could carry a second screen for you? That’s the idea behind Lenovo’s latest proof of concept, the ThinkBook Modular AI PC, announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Lenovo is never shy to show off wacky, weird concept laptops. We’ve seen a PC with a transparent screen, one with a rollable OLED screen, a swiveling screen, and another with a flippy screen. At CES earlier this year, the company showed off a gaming laptop with a display that expands at the push of a button. Sometimes, these concepts turn into real products that go on sale (often in limited quantities). At MWC 2026, Lenovo trotted out three concepts. While it’s unclear whether any of them will become real, purchasable products, there’s some unique utility here, and a peek at how computing experiences could change in the future. A Laptop With a Built-In Portable Screen The ThinkBook Modular AI PC has a second screen hanging magnetically off the back of the …

9 Best Windows Laptops (2026): WIRED-Tested Laptops to Buy

9 Best Windows Laptops (2026): WIRED-Tested Laptops to Buy

You’ll want to read our extensive guide on How to Choose the Right Laptop, but for the basics, you’ll want to decide what category of laptop you need. Most people should buy a 13-inch or 14-inch laptop, and spending around $750-$1,000 is a good place to start. You should expect a laptop around this price to get good battery life, have a decent screen, perform well enough for basic tasks, and have a comfortable keyboard and touchpad. You should also expect at least 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Anything more than that gets into premium territory where you’re paying for higher specs, more performance, or extra features. If you want something with a discrete GPU for either gaming or creative workflows, you’ll need to spend more than this. A laptop like the Dell 14 Plus is the ideal example of what you can get while shopping in this price range. You can even find laptops with OLED panels, up to one terabyte of storage, depending on how good the discounts happen …

One of the lightest Lenovo ThinkPads I’ve tested has no business lasting this long per charge

One of the lightest Lenovo ThinkPads I’ve tested has no business lasting this long per charge

Lenovo ThinkPad X13 (Gen 6) ZDNET’s key takeaways The sixth-gen ThinkPad X13 is available now for $1,569. At 2.0 pounds, it’s one of the lightest laptops I’ve tested all year, with a fantastic battery that charges in the blink of an eye. It’s pricey, the display is just average, and the keyboard/trackpad might feel too cramped for some. Follow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. We’re big fans of the ThinkPad here at ZDNET, reviewing several models across the different series each year. It’s quite an extensive catalog at this point, from the powerful P series to the affordable E series to the thin and light X series. So if you forget how to tell them apart, I don’t blame you. Also: I’ve tested dozens of ThinkPads: Here’s the Lenovo model I keep coming back to The X1 Carbon is arguably the ThinkPad’s flagship model, and most premium in terms of design. But it’s expensive, relegating itself to the upper tier of the market as an “executive-tier” device.  Enter: the ThinkPad X13 (Gen 6), Lenovo’s answer to a more …
