Frankie Muniz reveals if Malcolm in the Middle will return again

Frankie Muniz reveals if Malcolm in the Middle will return again

Creator Linwood Boomer and star Frankie Muniz have revealed the door isn’t closed on a potential second season of Hulu’s revival of Malcolm in the Middle. The reboot of the beloved Fox sitcom – which is subtitled Life’s Still Unfair – has been billed as a limited series of only four episodes. But in a new interview with TVLine, star Muniz and creator Linwood Boomer revealed there remains a possibility of more episodes. “For now it is,” Boomer said when asked if the series is a one-and-done event, before continuing: “I’m an old man. I’m very tired, but it was such a great experience, and I think creatively, it really worked. So, you never know. I don’t think it would have happened the way it happened if the idea was to do an entire series again.” Muniz added that the likelihood of further episodes could come down to the show’s popularity, saying: “I’ll say this: I would love to be Malcolm again. [However,] the intention of this was just these four episodes. “I don’t think …

‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival Starts Strong on Hulu, Disney+

‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival Starts Strong on Hulu, Disney+

The revival of Malcolm in the Middle has turned out to be a welcome family reunion for viewers. Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, a four-episode update of the 2000-06 comedy, scored solid returns for its opening weekend on Hulu in the United States and Disney+ internationally. In fact, Disney says, the show had the best season premiere of any show on the two platforms so far this year. Life’s Still Unfair drew 8.1 million views worldwide in its first three days (it premiered April 10), calculated as total viewing minutes divided by running time. That equates to more than 900 million minutes/15 million hours of watch time globally (the show’s running time clocks in at 112 minutes for the four episodes). The show performed especially well in Latin America, racking up 3.6 million viewers on Disney+. That ranks second all time for a season premiere weekend on Disney+ in the region, behind only the first season of Loki in 2021. The revival’s premiere also gave a boost to the original series: It had …

Frankie Muniz Crashes NASCAR Truck as Malcolm in the Middle Premieres

On Friday night, Frankie Muniz celebrated the premiere of Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, a revival series of the show that brought him fame. But hours after it debuted on Hulu and Disney+, Muniz was involved in a crash — in his Malcolm in the Middle decorated race truck. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racer crashed his F-150 truck in a wreck with Tyler Reif and Timmy Hill at the Bristol Motor Speedway. The incident took Muniz out of the race and damaged the themed vehicle. No serious injuries were reported. The Hollywood Reporter reached out to Muniz’s rep for comment and has not yet received a response. After the race, the Agent Cody Banks actor spoke to reporters. “I actually thought we were running pretty good. I felt pretty quick,” he told Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass. “We were in the lucky dog position, so I was just trying to do some good lap times. I think there was like 10 to go on the stage.” “I think [Reif] maybe got impatient, I don’t know. …

The ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Reboot Is Mostly Bad, Except for This Unmissable Episode

The ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Reboot Is Mostly Bad, Except for This Unmissable Episode

The following article contains minor spoilers for Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair. It’s been a couple of decades, but I can’t say I remember Malcolm in the Middle being this much of an unfunny bore. Which is strange, because the four-episode reboot now streaming on Hulu is reminiscent enough of the OG: one-time kid whiz Malcolm (Frankie Muniz), now a doting dad in his 30s, still endures a fractious relationship with his chaotic family. There are the fourth-wall-breaking narrative asides that serve as a window into our titular lead’s neurotic self-torment. And yes, the four episodes largely sustain the original series’ signature anarchism. But as with many of the questionable nostalgia-baiting reboots that have become a cornerstone of the streaming era, it’s hard to shake the jarring dissonance between its dated sense of humor, resurrected from the early 2000s, and its simultaneous desire to modernize. Perhaps it’s as simple as this: Malcolm in the Middle shouldn’t be in 4K. It just looks and feels wrong. Not that it’s all bad. There are funny …

Malcolm In The Middle OG Turned Down ‘Buckets Of Money’ To Appear In Reboot

Malcolm In The Middle OG Turned Down ‘Buckets Of Money’ To Appear In Reboot

Former Malcolm In The Middle cast member Erik Per Sullivan evidently had no interest in returning for the show’s new revival. As a child performer, Erik played Malcolm’s younger brother Dewey in all seven seasons of the family sitcom, which is about to be rebooted for a new generation. However, in the show’s new iteration, the character of Dewey will be played by new addition Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, after the OG actor declined to return. During a new interview with The Guardian, Malcolm In The Middle star Jane Kaczmarek made it clear that Erik was approached about coming back – and producers were more than willing to make it worth his while. “They offered him buckets of money to come back, and he just said: ‘No thank you’,” Jane said, pointing out that Erik is happier focussing on his studies at Harvard, where he’s pursuing a master’s degree in literature. Outside of Malcolm In The Middle, Erik went on to appear in Christmas With The Kranks and Finding Nemo during his career as a child actor. …

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair review – the TV magic they’ve created here is absolutely miraculous | Television

At this point, Bryan Cranston is firmly entrenched as one of the world’s finest actors. He has seven Emmys, two Tonys and a Golden Globe to his name. History, quite rightly, will remember him as one of the greats. That said – and this really wasn’t a sentence I expected to write a couple of hours ago – there is a distinct possibility that the greatest work of his entire career might be the scene in the Malcolm in the Middle revival where he thrashes around naked as he is overcome by a drug-induced ego death. Perhaps this does make some small amount of sense. Although Malcolm in the Middle became best known as an absurd counterpoint to Breaking Bad – the sheer dramatic intensity of the latter playing against the generic sitcom daddery of the former – those of us who always loved the show knew that Cranston spent a lot of it going full throttle. Malcolm in the Middle, after all, was the sitcom that kept cutting back to Cranston having his back …

How to watch the Malcolm in the Middle revival Life’s Still Unfair

Another beloved sitcom is stepping out of retirement this week as (almost) all of the original stars assemble for Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair. The hit series made an overnight star of Frankie Muniz, who played the title role, but later stepped away from acting to pursue a career as a race car driver. He returns to set for this four-part miniseries, alongside on-screen parents Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston (who landed the lead role in Breaking Bad shortly after Malcolm in the Middle ended). Other returning cast members include Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield as Malcolm’s siblings Francis and Reese, but notably absent is original Dewey actor Erik Per Sullivan. He was replaced by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark (Fargo) after declining to reprise the fan-favourite role, despite being offered “buckets of money” to return (according to Kaczmarek in a recent interview with The Guardian). That major substitution aside, Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair seems to have captured the spirit of the original – here’s everything you need to know about how to …

Four new episodes of the hit 2000s sitcom are being released on Disney+, with Muniz returning as the titular child prodigy, who is now grown-up with a daughter of his own. Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek are back as Malcolm’s parents, Hal and Lois, with Chris Kennedy Masterson and Justin Berfield returning as his older brothers, Francis and Reese. However, a notable absence from the revival is Erik Per Sullivan, the former child star who played Malcolm’s younger brother Dewey. After the show ended in 2006, Sullivan, who was 14, retired from acting to pursue his education. He was approached to return for the reboot, with Kaczmarek revealing he is so set on his …
