Denmark’s former monarch will stay in the hospital over the weekend for observations and further examinations. The announcement said that Margrethe is in good spirits, albeit tired. How the Danish Royals Celebrated Queen Margrethe of Denmark’s 86th Birthday

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has officially turned 86 and to celebrate it, the queen posed at the gates of Fredensborg Palace with her sister Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, son King Frederick, and daughter-in-law Queen Mary. The former monarch’s dachshund Tillia was also present and posed as a member of the family for the occasion. The foursome and their furry friend went out to greet the citizens who had gathered in front of the palace to congratulate Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and to enjoy the concert performed in her honor by the band of the Royal Guard during the relay. Margaret and Anne-Marie listened to the concert seated on two chairs prepared for the occasion, while Frederick and Mary remained standing.
