Michelle Obama shares honest reason why raising daughters Malia and Sasha is the ‘hardest thing in the world’

Michelle Obama is thinking of her next chapter, both personally and professionally. It has been ten years since she and husband Barack Obama left the White House, though it has been only in recent years that she has defined what her post-first lady career looks like, returning to the spotlight with ventures such as her podcast, IMO, which she hosts with her brother Craig Robinson, and her books, most recently her fashion book The Look. And though her podcast only just rang in its first year since release, the former attorney is already aware it might be her last professional chapter, and is thinking what that means for her and her family. © InstagramThe Obama women are now based in Los Angeles Speaking with her brother at a live taping of their podcast for SXSW London, Michelle, who shares daughters Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24, with Barack, confessed: “This is probably my last chapter from a career standpoint.” “I am 62 years old. Choices I Make Now Are for Me

Choices I Make Now Are for Me

Things got a little morbid at SXSW London‘s headline Michelle Obama session on Tuesday. The former first lady was speaking with her brother, Craig Robinson, at a live recording of their podcast, IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson. The year-old podcast usually involves a guest, but Obama kicked off the session by declaring they’d be “flipping the script” and, sans guest, would be interviewing each other. The conversation was dappled with sibling banter, of course, as Obama teased her older brother over being a “finance bro” and his marriages, prompting audience laughter. It also featured moments of touching sincerity, such as when Robinson said his little sister “has been this personality since she was three or four years old.” They discussed how their mother’s death has made them reflect on the time they have left and what they want to do with it. The conversation centered on Obama and Robinson’s respective professional journeys and the decisions that would shape their careers, from their parents to relationships and crucial life lessons learned along the way. …

Barack Obama reveals that Donald Trump has caused ‘genuine tension’ in his marriage to Michelle: ‘It frustrates her’

Barack Obama says that the demands of being a Democratic Party figurehead continue to weigh on his marriage — a full 10 years after he and former first lady Michelle Obama left the White House for good. The nation’s first Black president remains a cultural force in American politics, both on the left, where he is one of the party’s most valued centrist voices, and on the right, where he remains a top target of anger and scorn — particularly in the eyes of Donald Trump, his successor and the current holder of his office. In a new interview with The New Yorker’s Peter Slevin, the 44th president reflected on how his hopes that Trump would be restricted by the guardrails of the presidency and the Constitution were quickly dissolved by reality, and how that reality almost immediately supercharged calls for Obama to speak out about Trump’s first presidency, especially as he unveiled the first attempt to ban Muslims from traveling to the United States and later widely expanded U.S. immigration detention programs. Michelle Obama Says We’re In The ‘Janky Version’ Of America

Former first lady Michelle Obama shone a light on the current state of the US on Wednesday, quipping that the country is in its “janky” era, but that Americans can grow from it. “You know, there are versions of the country that happen, right? And the new version doesn’t make the old one bad,” Obama told comedian Hasan Minhaj on the show she co-hosts with her brother, IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson. “It’s necessary for growth, and I think we’re in just a janky version, right?” she said. Minhaj agreed and then asked, “May I curse, Mrs. Obama?” “You may,” she replied. “Yeah, shit is jank right now,” he said. “Super jank.” Obama put an optimistic spin on things, adding that “with each version, we learn something about ourselves as a country.” “Right now, I’m kind of digging the way folks are beginning to respond, right?” she continued. “I mean, Minnesota, powerful stuff. I mean, it was a powerful reminder of what a community of people can do and are willing to do …

Michelle Obama raises questions again as she skips Jesse Jackson’s funeral

Michelle Obama has raised eyebrows again after she failed to attend civil rights icon, Rev. Jesse Jackson’s, memorial service on Friday, over 12 months after she was a no-show at Jimmy Carter’s funeral. The former first lady left her husband, Barack Obama, to fly solo at the ceremony, held at the House of Hope in the Obamas’ hometown of Chicago. While Barack attended without his wife, former presidents Bill Clinton and Joe Biden were joined by their respective wives, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Dr. Jill Biden. HELLO! has contacted representatives for Michelle and Barack for comment. Last January, Michelle raised questions when she failed to join her husband at the funeral of the 39th President, Jimmy Carter, which was held at the Washington National Cathedral on January 9. While no reason was explicitly provided for her absence, The New York Times shared a statement from her spokeswoman, which read: “Mrs. Obama sends her thoughts and prayers to the Carter family, and everyone who loved and learned from the remarkable former president.”  © Getty …
