Sennheiser Momentum 5 review: Great sound, incredible battery life, and few compromises

There are a lot of $300-$400 headphones on the market right now, and most of them blur together. I spent the last few weeks with the Sennheiser Momentum 5 to determine if this pair actually stands out, testing everything from sound quality and noise cancellation to comfort and battery life.  At $399.99, the Momentum 5 sit right in the middle of the premium headphone market. That puts them up against the pricier Sony WH-1000XM6 and Apple AirPods Max 2, while offering a more affordable option for anyone looking for high-end headphones. Starting with sound, vocals sound natural and the bass is strong without taking over. The headphones allow you to start noticing little things in music, like a background harmony or a guitar string that cheaper headphones often tend to miss. If I had to describe the sound in one word, it’d be balanced.   The headphones support Dolby Atmos, which essentially means that music or movies sound like they’re coming from all around you instead of just left and right.  Image Credits:Sennheiser / With this …

As a writer in my second half-century, it’s expected, maybe even legally obligated, that I play some Elton John on every new audio device I test. But I don’t have to like it. Except today, I like it. Today, I like everything I play. It could be that, as a September baby, I’m enjoying the grounded clarity that accompanies Virgo Season. Or it could be that I’m enjoying the equally mindful tuning of the new Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 5. Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless Headphones Review (2026)

Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless Headphones Review (2026)

The Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app is where you can customize ANC levels, transparency, an eight-band EQ, connection preferences, and Dolby Atmos. You can also save sound profiles based on your location, maxing out ANC when you hit the office, for instance. Controls on the headphones themselves are touch controls on the right ear cup, and they work fine: as in, they didn’t annoy me. A tap pauses music, swipes adjust volume and skip tracks, while a double tap toggles between ANC and transparency modes. Active Noise Cancellation comes via eight microphones, and it is good, verging on great. It works well on public transport, provides a cocoon in cafés, and gifts solitude in a shared office. If you’ve never used Sony or Bose ANC headphones, you’ll be delighted with the Momentum 5s, but if you’re switching from those two brands, you might find these a bit of a letdown. We’re talking small margins here, but the Momentum 5 just lacks that eerily quiet sealed-off feeling of the WH-1000XM6 or Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd …

Dollar General Jumps On “Traffic-Led Momentum” As Gas Accelerates Consumer Trade-Down

Dollar General Jumps On “Traffic-Led Momentum” As $4 Gas Accelerates Consumer Trade-Down

Dollar General shares surged 6% in the cash session Thursday morning after stronger customer traffic fueled a second-quarter earnings beat and prompted the discount retailer to raise its full-year outlook. Jefferies analyst Corey Tarlowe wrote in a first take on earnings that “traffic-led momentum drives another beat.” The discount retailer, with 21,000 stores nationwide, most of them located in low-income ZIP codes, reported second-quarter earnings of $2.48 per share, up from $1.86 a year earlier and well above the Bloomberg Consensus estimate of $2. Revenue increased 5.2% to $11.29 billion, while comparable sales rose 3.5%, exceeding the 2.63% expected by analysts tracked by Bloomberg. Operating profit in the quarter jumped 29% to $769.2 million, beating the $637 million estimate. Gross margin expanded to 32.6% from 31.3% one year ago and came in well above the 31.7% consensus forecast. Tarlowe said the results reflected “broad-based category strength” and continued traffic momentum, with customer visits rising 2%. Dollar General raised its 2027 comparable-sales growth forecast to a range of 2.5% to 2.9%, from a previous range of …

The All-New Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5 Look Like Serious Earbud Contenders

The All-New Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5 Look Like Serious Earbud Contenders

Over the years, Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless earbuds have been among the best-sounding buds you can buy, but they’ve yet to truly combine that great sound with top-tier noise-canceling and voice-calling performance. That may be about to change with its new $300 Momentum True Wireless 5 buds, which ship on Sept. 3 in five color options. This fifth-generation model not only has a new external design but also upgraded components, including Bluetooth 6.0, an expanded microphone array (three mics in each earbud) with two bone-conduction voice accelerometers and replaceable batteries in both the buds and case, which supports wireless charging. Spatial audio with head-tracking is also new. The Momentum True Wireless 5 earbuds come in five color options: graphite, cream, copper, denim and lavender.Sennheiser/CNET The buds’ drivers are the same “signature” 7-mm TrueResponse dynamic transducers found in their predecessor that helped the Momentum True Wireless 4 produce clean, rich sound with powerful, well-defined bass. I expect this model to deliver similar, if not slightly better, sound quality, but the real gains should show up more …

Back in January 2025, we visited the Sennheiser factory and Audiophile Experience Center in Tullamore, Ireland, where we explored what goes into headphones that let us get the most out of our music. Having traveled for that Sennheiser sound, we can say we’re equally excited to travel with that Sennheiser sound. So we’re excited that Sennheiser’s natural, nuanced sonic signature and intelligent features first introduced earlier this year in the MOMENTUM 5 Wireless headphones have come to an even more pocketable active noise-cancelling counterpart: the $299.95 MOMENTUM True Wireless 5. DCCC’s DelBene says Dems have momentum

DCCC’s DelBene says Dems have momentum

President Donald Trump’s approval ratings remain low, inflation has been elevated, and the Iran war is dragging on, sending gas prices back up over $4 per gallon with no immediate relief in sight. Some of this may be bad news for the country, but for Democrats, eager to win back majorities in the House and the Senate, the sequence of events leading up to the 2026 midterm election could create opportunities. And according to Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair Suzan DelBene, D-Wash., the party is sitting pretty with 100 days to go until Election Day. “We have great candidates. We have the momentum. We have the message,” DelBene said in an interview with CNBC. “And I think the thing that’s been really critical too is that the American people are with us. They want folks who are going to stand up for the issues they’re facing and support them. And Republicans don’t care. They are a rubber stamp for Donald Trump.” Democrats have been laser-focused on cost-of-living concerns this election cycle, and DelBene said they’ll …

Traders Stunned By Momentum Meltdown As Earnings Quality Problem Simmers Under The Surface

Traders Stunned By Momentum Meltdown As Earnings Quality Problem Simmers Under The Surface

Authored by Lance Roberts via RealInvestmentAdvice.com, 📈Technical Backdrop – Coiling Below The Record Here is where the quiet-index story gets interesting for traders. The S&P 500 closed the week at 7,457.69, and that put it right on top of its 50-day moving average near 7,464. Call it dead flat against the line. The index still sits about 6.8% above its rising 200-day average near 6,985, so the primary uptrend remains fully intact, and it is roughly 2% below the June 2 record high of 7,620. Momentum on the index itself is neutral, not broken. The 14-day RSI reads 48.8, smack in the middle of its range and nowhere near oversold. The MACD is the wrinkle. It just rolled below its signal line for the first time since the April low, and the histogram flipped negative. That is a fresh bearish crossover. One crossover is not a sell signal, but it is exactly the kind of longer-term warning we watch for as a correction builds. The contrast between the index and the factor is the whole point. The Momentum …
