Best Heart Rate Monitors (2026): Polar, Coros, Garmin

Best Heart Rate Monitors (2026): Polar, Coros, Garmin

FAQS We tested and recommend all of the heart rate monitors below, which do a pretty impeccable job. But what do all these terms mean? Heart rate zones: If someone tells you they’ve been doing 80/20 training, they’ve been doing heart rate zone-based workouts. Heart rate zones are an easy way to break down your range of effort during exercise. Zones go from 1 to 5, with 5 indicating working at 90 to 100 percent of your maximum heart rate. Zone 2 represents training at 60 to 70 percent of maximum heart rate and represents light training. 80/20 training is intended to build endurance and means that 80 percent of your runs should be in Zone 2. If your heart rate monitor doesn’t tell you your zone, you can calculate it using Polar’s simple tool. Maximum heart rate: Some monitors can inform you of your maximum heart rate, which is the number of beats your heart can reach during exercise. This is useful for knowing when you’re training at peak intensity and can be used …

The Best Monitor Arms in 2026 to Clear Up Your Desk Space

The Best Monitor Arms in 2026 to Clear Up Your Desk Space

OK, so you’ve decided it’s time to buy a monitor arm, but there are hundreds of options out there, especially if you’re shopping on Amazon. Here are some of the most important factors to consider. Type of arm: These days, the most common kind of monitor arm is fully articulated. This is most likely what most people imagine when you say “monitor arm.” It resembles a robotic arm. However, there are some simpler pole designs, which only let you adjust the height of the monitor. I don’t usually recommend these, as the adjustments are very limited. The in-between option is a pole design with an articulated arm, which is how some multi-arm designs function. Brand: Stick with a well-known brand. Amazon has some best-selling options from lesser-known names like Huanuo or Ergotron, which offer great value. Monitor manufacturers also often make monitor arms and are a good place to look, whether that’s Asus, MSI, BenQ, or Acer. Lastly, more high-end names in the home office game like Branch and Herman-Miller also make monitor arms with …

Apple Studio Display XDR Review: Too Much but Not Enough

Apple Studio Display XDR Review: Too Much but Not Enough

Squeezing in more dimming zones is only half the equation for great HDR. You also need as much brightness and contrast as you can crank out, and the Studio Display XDR delivers on an unprecedented level. Apple says this can go up to 2000 nits of peak brightness, and when I measured it myself with my colorimeter, it maxed out at 1905 nits in a 25 percent window. That’s really impressive. Meanwhile, it can even do 1701 nits at 49 percent and 948 nits at full screen. This is easily the brightest computer monitor I’ve ever tested. While the contrast and color performance can’t quite compare with OLED, creators working in HDR will get a lot more from the Studio Display XDR. For example, I’ve tested the Dell 32 Plus QD-OLED, which can do HDR quite well, but only maxes out at 946 nits. And that’s only in a 1 percent window. Most of your use of the Studio Display XDR will be in SDR, not HDR. Here, there are a few tradeoffs. First, I …

The best baby monitors – including audio and video options

The best baby monitors – including audio and video options

Millie Poppins, a baby expert and motherhood mentor, says: “The first choice is whether you want video and audio, or audio only. The second consideration is whether the camera is connected to a smartphone app, or has a separate monitor.” Range will be another factor; either go for a model that uses a direct link between the camera and parent unit, or one that uses the home Wi-Fi, or both. We found the range – the maximum working distance between the camera and parent unit – was seldom as far as advertised. Walls and floors reduce it, so the true range will depend on your home internet strength. Anyone with dodgy Wi-Fi, should opt for a monitor that can function without it. “A good battery lifespan is also a must,” says Millie. “My number-one tip is to fully charge the battery before you use the monitor for the first time, to improve its battery life potential long-term. I also love monitors that are easily moved, as opposed to mounted to the wall. This allows you …

Best Budget Monitors: I Found 3 Impressive Screens Under 0 (2026)

Best Budget Monitors: I Found 3 Impressive Screens Under $200 (2026)

I’ll be honest. Testing out the latest OLED gaming monitor or eye-popping 6K monitor is a lot more fun than the cheap stuff. But I’m not delusional. I know that when it comes to computer monitors, most people just want something affordable that gets the job done. Not miserable to look at or use. But also not expensive. The truth is, I don’t come across as many affordable monitors as I’d like. They’re not the hottest and most exciting thing that monitor manufacturers want to talk about. So I had to do a bit of hunting to find cheap monitors that are actually good. The Best Monitors Under $200 When you’re shopping in the “budget” tier for monitors, you’re looking at anything under $200. And in today’s landscape, monitors under $100 will still always be 1920 x 1080 resolution. These are usually 23.8-inch or 27-inch size options, while even the cheapest 32-inch monitors will cost you over $100. (For more information, check out our How to Choose a Monitor guide.) I will get to this …
