British defence coach Aden Durde inspires Seahawks to Super Bowl LX victory over Patriots
Aden Durde became the first British coach to win the Super Bowl on Sunday night and how proud the Londoner should be. They say defence wins Championships and after Seattle’s relentless demolition of New England that maxim now can never be doubted. Durde is the defensive co-ordinator of the Seahawks and rarely will any coach see his work so emphatically rewarded as the west coast franchise savoured their second Super Bowl triumph in a convincing 29-13 victory. It is a long way from Enfield to California and an even longer trip from the Scottish Claymores to the biggest show of all. But Durde, 46, has proved what is possible and so opened up a pathway few in his homeland would have believed was possible.
