Major UK airline plunges into liquidation – all flights cancelled | UK | News

A British airline has collapsed into liquidation following a reported attempt to raise £20million. Scottish firm Ecojet Airlines had been heralded as the world’s first all-electric airline, established in 2023 by entrepreneur Dale Vince, a prominent Labour donor and owner of Forest Green Rovers football club. The airline harboured ambitious plans for long-haul flights and European routes, with an initial service from Edinburgh to Southampton mapped out. However, a petition was brought before Edinburgh Sheriff Court to wind up the business and appoint joint interim liquidators, according to documents from the end of January. At the time of launch, Mr Vince stated: “This is a vital frontier in the move to net zero, green living, whatever you choose to call it – and it’s absolutely doable. It’s a matter of when, not if.” The Herald reports that Paul Dounis and Mark Harper, of Opus Restructuring, were appointed as provisional liquidators. Opus confirmed the action followed a “voluntary liquidation initiated by the company’s board.” It added: “Ecojet was a start-up business and has no material assets. …

GAME is closing down ALL standalone shops as the challenging retail environment persists for UK retailers. GAME has announced that all three of the remaining physical stores will shut their doors from April 2026. The online shop is also anticipated to remain operational, and gift cards can still be redeemed. The GAME website will carry on trading as normal, and the retailer will maintain its presence as concessions within Sports Direct and House of Fraser shops, with over 200 locations currently. GAME has been scaling back for several years, shutting shops as their leases expire, and last year, closing its HQ in Basingstoke. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz in 2023, the chain’s MD, Nick Arran, had rejected claims the chain was abandoning its games business to concentrate on other products, such as toys. “Gaming is our core business, and we will be the last man standing selling physical video games.” “We see our place in the market as proving that there is a place for physical, whether that be the collector’s editions, which we see as the …

According to a registry note viewed by AFP, judges set the firm’s official cessation of payments date as 24 December, 2025. The company stated it had sought the redressement procedure to restructure debts that had become too burdensome, including the balance of a French state-backed loan and approximately €8 million of bank debt (£7 million). Established in 2010, Balibaris operates in the upper-middle tier of the men’s clothing market, showcasing collections crafted in Europe and a modern tailoring approach. UK delivery company closing down for good – parcels not delivered | UK | News

Evri has experienced delivery disruptions following the unexpected collapse of a partner courier company. The firm has attributed delays in a UK city to the abrupt failure of its collaborator, Pedal and Post. Pedal and Post has announced it is “ceasing trading without notice”. Evri had utilised the service for deliveries within Oxford’s Clean Air Zone, leaving residents in the city now facing interruptions and hold-ups. Carol Leonard, a Grandpont, Oxford resident, reported that multiple parcels – ordered in late January – had failed to arrive. The packages contained specialist food for her cat along with litter, and despite being dispatched for delivery, they remained stuck at the depot. The items were ultimately delivered on February 10 – a fortnight after her orders were placed. An Evri spokesperson commented: “We successfully deliver more than 900 million parcels each year, with industry-leading on-time delivery rates. “We were disappointed to learn that our e-cargo bike delivery partner in Oxford ceased trading without notice, which caused some temporary disruption for a small number of customers in the local …

GAME was one of the most successful gaming stores, having survived when others had fallen (stock) (Image: James Maloney/Lancs Live) High street retailer GAME is poised to shut its final standalone shops following substantial financial losses. The decision follows the video game specialist, which previously operated hundreds of locations nationwide, indicating late last month that it was preparing to appoint administrators. This would represent the second occasion GAME has faced administration. The company went under in 2012, leading to 277 store closures and more than 2,000 redundancies. Established in 1990, GAME flourished during the boom years of gaming consoles and physical game sales. However, by 2019, the business was in difficulty and accepted a £52million acquisition by tycoon Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct, which subsequently rebranded as Frasers Group. In 2020, GAME revealed intentions to close 40 outlets. Reports emerged last August suggesting another five locations were earmarked for closure. The chain now operates just three standalone premises, all of which are expected to shut. One is thought to be its outlet at the Merry Hill …

Owen Maughan, 27, and his father Patrick Maughan, 54, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, accused of the murder of Peter Maughan, four, on June 1 last year. Prosecutor Richard Jory KC told Maidstone Crown Court that the pair had spent the day drinking in Rochester, Kent, before Owen Maughan began driving them home in a Ford Ranger pick-up truck. Owen Maughan had about 12 bottles of beer, and Patrick had about 13 pints, the jury heard, after they had been drinking in the Jolly Knight pub and City Wall wine bar. During the journey on the A2 motorway, they saw Owen’s cousin Hayley travelling in a second pick-up truck with her partner Lovell Mahon, who was driving, and their children Peter, four, and his then one-year-old sister Annarica Maughan. Mr Jory said: “For reasons that weren’t and aren’t clear, Owen …
