Mashable 101 creator Grace Reiter joins ‘Saturday Night Live’ Season 52

Grace Reiter has built a following by committing to the bit. Now she’s taking that energy to Studio 8H. The comedian, whom we named one of our Mashable 101 creators earlier this year, is joining Saturday Night Live as as a featured player for Season 52. If you’ve seen Reiter on TikTok, you’ve likely laughed at the way she takes a weird thought and runs with it. In one video, she gives her last clean pair of underwear a hope-core edit. In another, she pretends she’s on Love Island, trying to sleep next to two Islanders who are “getting freaky.” Across her videos, Reiter uses physical stunts, body humor, and candid confessions accompanied by a jarringly icy stare. As Haley Henschel wrote in Mashable’s profile, “‘Grace videos’ have practically become their own genre on TikTok” (where she has 3.9 million followers). Reiter told Mashable back in June that her comedy comes from wanting to know whether other people share her strange thoughts and habits. “[My comedy] comes from a place of connection or reassurance,” she …

Benfica earn win in Milan as Sunderland celebrate historic night

Sept 16 : Benfica claimed a 2-0 Europa League victory over hosts AC Milan, while debutants Sunderland edged AZ Alkmaar and Olympique Lyonnais defeated Anderlecht in Brussels in the opening round of the league phase of the competition on Wednesday. Benfica took the lead in the 16th minute when Dodi Lukebakio was given time on the edge of the box to fire low into the far corner. It was 2-0 eight minutes into the second period as Jakub Kaminski volleyed into the net with a superb, controlled finish from 15 yards and the Portuguese side were full value for the win. Enzo Le Fee scored Sunderland’s first-ever Europa League goal when he slotted home a penalty in the 66th minute as they defeated Alkmaar at the Stadium of Light. Le Fee had won the spot-kick when he was fouled by Weslley Patati as he attempted a shot. Sunderland then rode their luck as Alkmaar missed several superb chances. A Svit Seslar own goal and a strike from Facundo Medina earned Bayer Leverkusen a routine 2-0 …

The season got off to a rocky start when technical difficulties forced ABC to disregard all votes cast online during night one of the premiere. Only text message votes were counted. Despite the glitch, the season’s first elimination went ahead as planned. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Conner Leavitt and new pro dancer Adele Zaikman were sent packing after receiving one of the lowest scores from the judges and not enough viewer votes. Scores from returning judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli were encouraging, if on the lower side. But co-hosts Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro did remind viewers that the judges tend to score dances low at …

Stephen Colbert’s nuclear reaction to CBS as Jimmy Kimmel brings him on late night show

Get the latest entertainment news, reviews and star-studded interviews with our Independent Culture email Get the latest entertainment news with our free Culture newsletter Get the latest entertainment news with our free Culture newsletter Stephen Colbert has returned to late night in a special guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show. Colbert, 62, has not appeared in a late slot since the cancelation of his eponymous CBS show, which aired its final episode in May. When Kimmel told the former host he looked “happier” and “healthier” at Monday’s Emmy Awards — during which Colbert won a trophy for the final season of his show — Colbert didn’t mince words about why. “Like, I don’t drink a cup of poison every day?” Colbert began. “Because part of the job is… the old gig as I remember it was to be lowered like carbon rods into a radioactive pool every day and then to be pulled out and put in front of a camera and to irradiate it back at the audience at a non-lethal rad level.” “That’s …

The pair were caught on camera rubbing shoulders with the bar’s resident drag queens and delivering impromptu renditions of their respective floor-fillers Fight For This Love and Commander. Carolina Herrera Brought Back Mortimer’s, the Famous Upper East Society Restaurant, For One Night Only

The owner, Glenn Bernbaum, fastidiously organized the seating arrangements: Well-known regulars got the tables along the walls, whereas up-and-comers were seated at tables down the middle. “A food critic dining anonymously at Mortimer’s once described the welcome accorded walk-ins as a greeting normally given to bill collectors,” wrote The New York Times of the restaurant. To be fair, no one really went to Mortimer’s for the food. “The professional dieters in the crowd often make a meal out of an appetizer selection, asparagus vinaigrette, say, or tomatoes basil, cucumber, and dill salad and mushrooms with fines herbes,” read a 1980 account of Mortimer’s in The Daily News. Instead, it was about vibes. Regulars included Henry Kissinger, Oscar de la Renta, and Brooke Astor—the latter of two threw a buzzy dinner for Renata Adler’s made-for-television movie Reckless Disregard. Bill Paley (CBS Chairman and husband of Babe Paley) often dined there with his daughter, Kate (the step-aunt of Belle Burden, the New York Times best-selling author of Strangers.) Farrah Fawcett dined there with Ryan O’Neal and Valentino …

That is what we found in a study we published in July 2026. We gave more than 1,100 undergraduates at University of Pittsburgh a Fitbit – a wearable activity tracker that looks similar to a watch – and an app that sent bedtime reminders and morning feedback. We randomly chose 468 students and paid them about $5 for every night they slept at least seven hours, over the course of four weeks. We verified how much they slept using the device they wore. The students were about 19 years old, on average, and half of them were first-year students. Roughly …

A Night for Actor’s Actors, Not Movie Stars

A Night for Actor’s Actors, Not Movie Stars

When the Widow’s Bay creator Katie Dippold accepted her Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series last night, she joked that she was so proud of her win, she intended to display her trophy as prominently as possible in her home. The award would be mounted on a rotating turntable, she explained; mirrors would be set up around the space so that visitors could always see it, wherever they were. “This is going to become my entire personality now,” she warned. This year’s Emmys essentially turned Widow’s Bay into its personality too. The Apple TV series about a haunted island town full of eccentric inhabitants swept the field, winning six categories over the course of the evening, including Outstanding Comedy Series. The show’s star, Matthew Rhys, even made Emmys history: With his win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, he became the first-ever nominee to score a trophy in all three lead-actor categories. (Earlier in the night, he was awarded for his work on The Beast in Me, a limited series; in …
