A rail signaller who “forgot” about an train travelling from Manchester to Cardiff before a horror crash left six people injured was exhausted after having just four-and-a-half hours’ sleep, according to a report. The shocking lapse came moments before a passenger train ploughed into a tractor trailer at a farm level crossing near Leominster, Herefordshire. Investigators found the signaller failed to keep track of the train before the smash which left six people injured. A passenger bailed from his Waymo robotaxi as the vehicle drove dangerously close to an oncoming railcar. Viral footage of the incident, which took place last Wednesday, shows the car blundering down a stretch of light rail tracks in Phoenix, Arizona, as if it were an actual motorist lane it was supposed to be driving in. The passenger, smelling trouble, exits the car during one of its random stops without looking back. “Oh get out get out get out!” the bystander taking the footage can be heard saying. Moments later, a railcar a few hundred yards directly behind the Waymo can be briefly seen beginning to pull out from the station. But the Waymo’s antics weren’t over yet. A man is suing Tesla after half his family was killed when their Model X, which was running one of the automaker’s driving assistance features, veered across the road line and into a tractor-trailer — crushing his wife, two daughters, son-in-law, and family dog, according to a grim new lawsuit reported by The Independent. The man, Nathan Blaine, is accusing Tesla and CEO Elon Musk of having “intentionally misrepresented the safety of their vehicles” and the driver assistance features, the outlet noted, and says that the misleading claims lulled him and his wife into a “false sense of security.” “Based on representations the Blaines heard made by Musk and Tesla,” the complaint states, per The Independent, “[they] believed [it] was a safer driver than a human driver of convention[al] vehicles.” The suit targets Tesla’s “Autosteer” feature, a punched-up version of cruise control that “detects lane markings, road edges, and the presence of vehicles and objects to intelligently keep your vehicle in its driving lane,” per Tesla.
