I was done with OnePlus until OxygenOS 16 gave me 5 reasons to stay

I’ve had my OnePlus Open since it launched in 2023, and I’ll be honest: I don’t use it as often as I thought I would. The company’s next iteration, the Open 2, was put on pause, leaving the original feeling like a one-off. And the software, while capable, hasn’t given me much reason to stick around. Then Oxygen OS 16 dropped and I just installed it. A few things in it changed the way I use the phone, now, so I might stick around a bit longer. Here’s what kept me interested. Related I found 3 Android features so useful I’m confused why they ship disabled Why aren’t these already on? Home screen resizing gives me more control than I had before One phone, two screen sizes, one layout system that handles both The new OxygenOS 16 lets you resize icons and folders right on the home screen using a drag handle. It also lets you scale the dock up to five apps. The Flux icon pack also auto-themes your icons system-wide to match your …

5 Best Android Tablets in 2026: OnePlus, Lenovo, and Pixel Compared

IPad? Never heard of it. I have been using Android tablets pretty much since the first one came out, and I’ve never felt the need for anything made by any fruit companies. Android tablets make great “nice to have” entertainment centers, or they can be complete lightweight laptop replacements for travel. Whatever your use case, I’ve tested just about all the Android tablets out there, and these are the best, depending on what you need them for. The New OnePlus Pad 4 Is Thin and Fast, but Not Yet in the US

The New OnePlus Pad 4 Is Thin and Fast, but Not Yet in the US

OnePlus launched the Pad 4 on Thursday, the latest iteration of the company’s Pad series, a tablet with a good screen size, a big battery and a fast processor — all thinner than a pencil. The Pad 4 has a 13.2-inch screen, a 13,380-mAh battery and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, the fastest available for Android systems. Snapdragon is a system-on-a-chip processor made by Qualcomm and is found in smartphones, tablets and laptops. CNET liked the OnePlus Pad 3, and early indications are its successor may build on its strengths. Our review called the Pad 3 the “best new high-performance Android tablet” among our best picks for 2026, and longtime CNET reviewer David Carnoy said it was “powerful and elegant,” if a bit pricey. The Pad 4 is available only in India for now, and the company did not say when the device would be coming to the US market. A representative for OnePlus did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Pad 4 is even more powerful than its predecessor. OnePlus said …

I switched to Samsung’s $450 Galaxy phone from my OnePlus, and didn’t regret it

pros and cons Pros Consistent performance 6.7-inch AMOLED screen Great cameras Cons Gets warm Minimal updates over A36 more buying choices Follow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. Samsung’s Galaxy A37 is the company’s latest midrange smartphone and direct successor to the A36. It closely follows last year’s formula, sharing many of the same but reliable features. That may sound disappointing, but it doesn’t make for a bad mobile device — far from it. Coming from my OnePlus, the new Galaxy A37 is a well-rounded, dependable phone that’s easy to recommend to anyone looking for a great value option. However, it might not be enough of an upgrade to warrant buying over the Galaxy A36 for some people. Here’s why. Best mobile deals of the week Deals are selected by the CNET Group commerce team, and may be unrelated to this article. Performance The most notable change is in the internal hardware. Samsung’s latest midrange phone runs on the Exynos 1480 chipset, while the A36 uses the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. I haven’t personally …

OnePlus Reveals New Phones Despite Uncertain Future

OnePlus Reveals New Phones Despite Uncertain Future

There’s uncertainty about OnePlus’ future in the UK and Europe, but it’s full steam ahead in Asia for now. The Chinese-based tech company said Monday in a post on X that it will launch two new phones — the Nord CE6 and Nord CE6 Lite — in India on May 7. OnePlus didn’t say when the phones would be available in the US and other markets and didn’t say how much they would cost. That’s unfortunate, as both Nord phones build on the brand’s recent set of phones with large-capacity batteries. But whereas last year’s flagship OnePlus 15 has a 7,300-mAh one, the Nord CE6 has a massive 8,000-mAh battery, which should last for 2.5 days on a full charge, according to the phone’s listing. While it doesn’t share how fast the phone’s wired or wireless charging is, it does note that the Nord CE6 has 27-watt reverse charging to donate battery charge to other devices. The Nord CE6 Lite, presumably the cheaper version, has a 7,000-mAh battery. The Nord CE6 and CE6 Lite, visible in …

OnePlus and Oppo to Raise Smartphone Prices as Memory Costs Climb

OnePlus and Oppo to Raise Smartphone Prices as Memory Costs Climb

Chinese smartphone-makers OnePlus and Oppo plan to raise prices on some existing models starting next week, according to a 9to5Google report citing GizmoChina and a notice posted on Oppo’s China online store. In its notice, Oppo said it would adjust pricing after evaluating rising costs for several key components used in its mobile phones. The changes are expected to take effect around March 16 and will affect some of the company’s more affordable smartphones, as well as some OnePlus models.  Flagship devices — like those in the Find and Reno series — are not expected to be affected for now. The reported adjustments currently appear to be limited to China. The move highlights growing pressure across the smartphone supply chain as component costs climb. Analysts say prices for memory and storage chips used in phones have been rising in recent months as demand surges across the tech industry.  Much of the chip demand is coming from the rapid buildout of AI data centers, which rely on large amounts of high-performance memory.  That pressure isn’t limited to Oppo and OnePlus. Analysts say …

The best phone of 2026 might be the year-old OnePlus 13

The best phone of 2026 might be the year-old OnePlus 13

We might never see a phone like the OnePlus 13 again. A perfect storm allowed the OnePlus 13 to become arguably the best Android flagship of all time. Qualcomm’s groundbreaking Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a stunning and unique design, a pro-caliber camera system, a sharp eye-friendly display, and mature OxygenOS software combine to make the last-generation OnePlus handset a complete package. It’ll be hard for Samsung or Google to beat it in 2026. OnePlus itself couldn’t even beat it. The OnePlus 15 is an upgrade in just three major ways — processor, battery capacity, and display refresh rate — and a downgrade in many others. I’m absolutely convinced I’d pick the OnePlus 13 over the OnePlus 15. For that matter, I doubt I’d choose the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL or Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra over it, either. Is the OnePlus 13 the most well-rounded phone ever? It has a lot of power, a giant battery capacity, and great cameras OnePlus should partly thank Qualcomm for why the OnePlus 13 continues to be my recommendation …

OnePlus 15 vs. OnePlus 15R: High-End Refinement or Lower-Priced Power

OnePlus 15 vs. OnePlus 15R: High-End Refinement or Lower-Priced Power

Continuing the same strategy OnePlus has followed the past few years, the company released two flagship phones at the end of 2025, the top-tier $900 OnePlus 15 and the mid-range $700 OnePlus 15R. This is the third year that OnePlus has used this phone strategy, which began with the then-$500 OnePlus 12R. At the time, I said OnePlus had killed its own flagship.  The $800 OnePlus 12 was the true flagship that year with the latest Snapdragon chip, tons of RAM and storage, a fantastic display and smooth software. Yet the 12R delivered almost 90% of the power and performance of the 12, but at several hundred dollars less. Much the same is true this time with the 15 series. OnePlus made a few small changes to the 15R that don’t really lessen the overall experience of using the phone, while still delivering a flagship-level phone. It has a fast new processor, a giant battery with fast charging, an expansive screen and the same software as the more expensive OnePlus phone. As such, it’s worthwhile to …

Save $50 on the OnePlus Watch 3, Which Has Revolutionary Battery Tech

Tired of having to remember to charge your Apple Watch or Pixel Watch every night? The OnePlus Watch 3 boasts an incredible five days of battery life, letting you go almost a full week without finding an outlet, and it’s currently marked down to just $300 on Amazon in both the Emerald Titanium and Obsidian Titanium colorways. Photograph: Julian Chokkattu Photograph: Julian Chokkattu Photograph: Julian Chokkattu OnePlus has employed two main tricks to achieve such a long battery life on such a small watch. The first is silicon-carbon batteries that have a higher storage density than other batteries of the same size, so this watch has a 631-mAh battery in its surprisingly svelte bezel. There are also two operating systems running at the same time, with the Qualcomm chip handling all the Wear OS 5 features and a BES2800 running all the background tasks. The result is a massive five-day run time in normal mode or up to 16 days in power-saving mode, enough for an entire trip. It boasts a 1.5-inch AMOLED, which may …
